Masculinity?

I just finished “The Joker Presents a Puzzle Box” and, it’s a very fun read. The whole Rouges gallery makes an appearance but, there’s this one part that bothers me and, that’s the portrayal of Harley as the bitter ex girlfriend. (Why does DC have to write that stereotype for her character?) Everyone gives their stories from their own perspective. Harley’s is this:

Harley sees the Joker in a warped perspective but, her Joker has always been warped, she used to see him as a hunky muscle man of which he is definitely not. Anyway what really made me do a double take is “Toxic Masculinity”, really? This guy?:

Yeah… there’s a lot wrong with Joker but, Toxic “Masculinity” isn’t one of them. (FYI all of these comic panels are official DC works of art not fan art.)

WOW…sooo, @maxfreeman456 informed me of X-Men ‘97 episode 3. So slight spoiler but, I’m not going to reveal the plot. I legit thought Wolverine and Morph were going to have just a buddy buddy relationship but, then we had the “Shower Scene”.

It’s not graphic, this is still Disney people but, yeah it’s definitely an “interesting” friendship.

X-Men ‘97 as addictive as Morphine!

At first I honestly thought people were reading way too much into it. That Morph and Wolverine are just best friends. You can have a close relationship with someone without being attracted to them. Tween girls just don’t understand that you can have a platonic love.

BUT THEN, someone pointed out on Reddit that the ship name for Morph and Wolverine would be Morphine and now I want it to happen. How hilarious would it be to see on a bunch of peoples blogs “I <3 Morphine, “My OTP is Morphine”, “Morphine 4-Ever!”, “I wish I had a love like Morphine”. MAKE IT HAPPEN DISNEY!!!

A Heart Breaking Moment for all Fans.

Spoilers for Batman #142

Everybody is talking about Batman #142. Mostly fans are talking about hidden meanings and “Batjokes” moments but, I would like to address this one panel.

This one panel is honestly heart breaking because, of what it implies, Jeannie has always been the small part of Joker that is still human. In JLA Annual Specter tells Martian Man Hunter that he will spare the world if he could find the smallest bit of good in the most evil person. Martian Man Hunter found this small bit of good in the Joker and, it was him peacefully sitting and talking with Jeannie.

However in the panel from Batman 142 we see the Joker talking to a woman who he calls Sally. He tells her he’s going to fix everything and, that he loves her before running off.. Joker thinks this is his wife “Jeannie” only he calls this woman Sally but, this woman isn’t Sally, this woman isn’t Jeannie her name is Jody as we learn from the man standing beside her. In the 2019 movie Joker we see that Arthur has developed a relationship with Sophie only to find out that the relationship between them was all in his head and never actually real. This one panel implies that Jeannie was never real but, a figment of Joker’s imagination. This is heart breaking because, this means that the only happy memory, the only thing that is still sane in the Joker, the only memory that gives him peace was never even real. How tragic and brutal must a persons life have been that they can only find solace in a dream?

I dunno I kind of agree with Batman. She didn’t have a love with Joker like she does with Ivy, Harley was just infatuated with the Joker. Also She’s unaliving people to impress an unalived man. She chose to do that. Jokers not making her do anything, he’s DOA. Too many people write off Harley’s misdeeds and let her off the hook for things that they wouldn’t normally let someone off for because, she gives them a pity story so they A.) Forgive her because, they feel sorry for her or, B.) Forgive her because, of her cleavage.-It’s actually a narcissist trait she’s displaying. She can blame everyone except herself. Joker is a POS but, at least he admits to his wrong doings and, is also oddly proud of them.

Ok, so this is from Batman Arkham Knight #22 and I can’t not talk about it.

There are so many ways that the Arkham series has been a massive nod to Batman: The Animated Series, and this part of the prequel particularly stands out to me as unbelievably problematic because of that.

Batman ALWAYS worked to understand his adversaries however he could – ESPECIALLY when it came to Doctor Harleen Quinzel and her gradual self-realization of the mental issues that she suffered at the hands of the Joker, and attempting to overcome them. She’s always been a sympathetic character when it came to her larger arc, and the games generally seem to understand this interaction, acknowledge it, and show that Batman is more than a set of fists to punch the bad guys. This comic not only misses that mark, but even goes into weirdly uncomfortable victim blaming in his response.

I don’t know what Peter J. Tomasi was attempting to do when writing this part, but this AWFUL and it most certainly isn’t Batman.

The Swamp Kitty and The Sewer Clown

I’ve been reading the Novelization of “No Mans Land”, it’s honestly better than the comic. Here’s an expert from the book

“As the winter continued, Joker took to trapping what animals he could find, then had hours of fun putting them through therapy. The opossum had been his most successful patient, and now was charming in its blood lust.

Later that night, though, sleeping comfortably with opossum beneath Dr Arkham’s big oak desk, he heard it again. This time, though, he was certain it wasn’t himself who was singing, and after some investigation, tracked the noise to the nearest air duct.”

The fact that he made friends with an opossums and named it “Opossum” just seems right. He looks like an opossum person.

More Evidence that Sewer Rat Joker is actually the Real Joker.

In the Man who stopped laughing we follow along with who we think and, are eventually told is imposter Joker, lovingly dubbed Sewer Rat Joker by the fans 😂 In a previous post I revealed that I was able to identify which Joker actually won by an X shaped scar on his chest. The winner was our beloved sewer rat Joker, the imposter, however looking through some old comics I found something interesting. In Harley Quinn #25 2016 Harley goes to beat up the Joker in his cell and bite his lip off because, she can, I guess. While the two are fighting I noticed that this Joker has an X shaped scar on his chest. The “Real Joke” has no x scar at all on his chest in TMWSL 2023. I want to point out That HQ#25 was released in 2016, The 3 Jokers was released in 2020, So this Joker with the X shaped scar predates any Joker switches. Could this mean our winner Sewer Rat Joker/Imposter Joker was the real Joker all along?

The Joker’s Pronouns

I’ve noticed that the Joker has never referred to himself as a he in comics and, this is not recent so people can’t blame it on current events. Joker has always done this. He mostly refers to himself as a “girl”. The closest he has gotten to calling himself he is when he refers to himself as the Clown Prince. None of the hero’s, villains or regular citizens call Joker she/her. They always refer to Joker as he/him. Joker never protests or gets upset by it. I think Catwoman has referred to Joker a few times as She/Her but, that’s when they were friends. Harley and Punchline have never referred to Joker as She/Her. I was told by a Redditer that the DCU states Joker as being Non-binary but, I don’t want to state that as a fact since I can’t actually find it anywhere. (I’m not saying they lied or were wrong it’s just that people demand proof and, then when you give it to them they get mad. I’d hate to see what they do if you don’t have proof.) So am I saying the Joker is transgender? No I don’t think so. He’s definitely more effeminate than some men but, he’s way too comfortable in his own skin to be suffering from gender dysmorphia. Is he Non- binary? Maybe? I honestly don’t think he gives it much thought. I think he just does what he wants. I just find it odd with current events and current comics of cringey mpreg that no one has talked about how he refers to himself as She/Her. I don’t think the other villains refer to Joker as he/him because, they are transphobic. I think Joker just never bother correcting them. Maybe he feels like only he can call himself she/her and others aren’t allowed? DC has never really explained it but, they’ve done it for decades. For example Joker’s said the following lines in comics, “It’s not nice to keep a girl waiting, Let me tell you something girl to girl, Beat it girls only, You know girl talk, Do you tell that to all the girls, What’s a girl gotta do? I have to use the little girls room. Come on Bats don’t keep her waiting while pointing to himself. She wants what she wants, once again talking about himself. He’s also described himself as Not a basic Bitch to Harley, while once giving Batman information about Two-Face, Batman showed disbelief and Joker told him, Never doubt a woman’s intuition. When Batman cuffs Joker to take him back to Arkham, Joker often replies, I’m not that kind of girl Bat’s” it happens far too often for Joker to be using She/Her in a Joking manner. Maybe it’s because, of his childhood. When Guzzo kidnapped and assaulted “Sonny” (aka child Joker) Guzzo seemed the type to refer to Sonny as a “girl”and, other derogatory names normally reserved for women in order to emasculate him. Maybe it’s Jokers way of taking back the power Guzzo had over him or, maybe he just became accustomed to referring to himself that way since it was quite literally beaten into him since childhood. The oddest part about this whole thing is, Why has no one ever talked about it? Why hasn’t anyone ever pointed it out? I guess even DC staff is too afraid to question the Joker.

The Cursed Licca-Chan Doll

In Asia not many little girls play with Barbie’s because, they are actually very hard to find. Instead of Barbie we have Licca-Chan. Licca-Chan has many accessories and fashions just like Barbie but, unlike Barbie there is a very dark story that goes along with Licca-Chan. Pictured above is my Licca-Chan doll my Grandfather gave me for a Christmas present in 1991. This Licca-Chan is very special because, even though she is not a defective doll she was part of the defective doll batch that was made in 1991. Something happened to the doll molds that caused some of the dolls to have 3 legs. People say it was a disgruntled employee who had been fired that made the three legged Licca-Chan dolls and, mixed them in with the lot of non-defective dolls. Three is a cursed number and the employee wanted to ruin the toy line by putting cursed dolls into some of the boxes to give the company a bad reputation. The middle leg of the doll was purple and, made to look hyperrealistic. Once the company started getting complaints of the dolls they recalled them and sent out replacements. However some dolls slipped through the cracks and ended up in thrift stores. A young girl found one such doll at a thrift store. She had always wanted a Licca-Chan doll but, her Mother could not afford to buy one for her. Seeing the Licca-Chan at a thrift store the girl begged her Mother for the doll. Her Mother was hesitant because, of the dolls third leg but, ended up getting the doll for her daughter anyway. The young girl loved her Licca-Chan doll very much. Constantly playing with her and, taking the doll everywhere. However as the young girl grew into a young woman she lost interest in her toys. Her Mother eventually threw the doll out with her daughter’s other old discarded toys. Years later the young woman was home alone one night watching TV, when a commercial for a new Licca-Chan doll came on, at the end of the commercial a hotline number was shown that children could call to talk to Licca-Chan. The young woman felt nostalgic thinking about her childhood Licca-Chan doll, so she decided to call the hotline. The bright happy voice of a girl could be heard on the phone. “Hi!! It’s Licca-Chan. I am so happy you called, I’ve been waiting to hear from you. If you are happy to be talking to me press 1. The young woman smiled to herself and pressed one to hear the next message, only this is where the story took a dark turn, after pressing 1 the voice was no longer happy but, cold and calculated. “If you are happy to be hearing from me then why did you throw me away?!”. The young woman’s smile dropped from her face. This must be some sort of glitch she thought to herself and tried pressing 1 again. The cold voice responded with, “It’s cold and dark here at the dump. I want to come home.” The young woman feeling frightened hung up the phone. Only once she had hung up the phone started ringing. The young woman picked up the phone, “Hello” she said, only to hear that cold voice once again. “Now that you want to hear from me I am coming home. I’m leaving the dump now.” The young woman slammed the phone down. This was someone’s idea of a sick joke and she wasn’t going to play along. The young woman dialed the hotline to speak with a representative. Only it wasn’t the representative that answered, “Hi this is Licca-Chan. I’m on the bus now coming home. I’ll be there soon.” The young woman hung up. This was ridiculous did this person really have nothing better to do than try and scare people? The phone started to ring again. The young woman picked up the phone, “Hello” she said. “Hi it’s Licca-Chan I’m at your building”. The young woman started to shake,” this is all a joke, just a joke..” Suddenly there was a knock at the door. The woman looked at the door wide eyed, “This is just a coincidence, it’s probably just a neighbor” Gathering all her strength the young woman quickly flung the door open and saw… nothing. The woman sighed with relief but, then heard a voice directly behind her say, “Thanks for letting me in.”
