This til-gud cake at @thebombaycanteen is all kinds of layered goodness. Featuring: a sesame sponge smothered with a dark chocolate & jaggery ganache (!!) and a light buttercream, wafer-thin sesame chikki and til-gud, drizzled with a bit of jaggery caramel, sitting on a bed of citrus custard sauce. 😋 I wish all my past & future birthday cakes could be this cake. 🎂 Broke all my restrictions to eat this and it was 100% worth it. @tiffintales you are a genius. • • • • • • • • • #thebombaycanteen #mychefstable #indiainspired #tilgud #everydayiscakeday #getinmybelly #bombaycanteen #blehlovesfood #foodtalkindia #mumbaifoodie #bombaynotmumbai #dessertdreams #blehEats (at The Bombay Canteen)

SO I'm interrupting my stream of Vietnam posts, because 1. I'm actually back in India (hence the #latergrams), and 2. Poona is having it's own Craft Beer Festival on Sunday (it's about damn time), and here's a couple of things you simply shouldn't miss: ♡ @packapav - their Mutton Shammi Pav is one of my faves, and they also do really good experimental Pavs, so try everything. ♡ @moonshinemeadery are an upcoming new brewer you need to know in Poona. Mead is basically fermented honey wine and it's freaking ahmahzing, and the Coffee Mead is just divine. ♡ @streetmeat15 are no strangers to the Poona pop-up scene and if you haven't tried their tacos yet, you're missing out on life. Also, their Brunut is to die for. Trust me. ♡ @greatstate.aleworks last but not least, these boys know their brews and I highly recommend trying a bit of everything, though their IPA is a personal fave. *This is not a sponsored post - it's only because I really love good food (and drinks) and good things must always be shared.* These guys work their butts off to make some amazing stuff, so come and show them some love. Support small businesses - especially homegrown ones! See you on Sunday 30th July, at @tappedbeerfest. 🍻 (at Balkrishna Lawns)

Our first brush with Vietnamese street-style food was at @hoatucrestaurant. Almost 10 years old, Hoa Túc serves contemporary Vietnamese food in what once was an old Saigon opium factory decorated in a French-colonial style. We tried BBQ pork and fried spring roll DIY wraps, served with leafy greens and pickled veggies; fishcake and pork wraps with rice noodles; prawns on sweet potato crisps, and delicious homemade ice cream. I'm on a culinary tour with @grantourismo, making my through Vietnam until mid-July. Stay tuned to my Instagram Stories for daily updates (mostly #latergrams). (at Hoa Tuc)

Lunch was experimental, today. My version of a Chicken Saltimbocca - using spinach instead of sage, and serrano ham instead of prosciutto (making the most of what I had at home). Side salad of bronze butterhead & cherry tomatoes in a balsamic vinaigrette. Not fancy, but quite satisfying. #chickensaltimbocca #kitchenexperiments #foodtalkindia #blehlovesfood #blehcooks #onmyplate #makeitdelicious

Cooling off in this sweltering heat with a Jaljeera I picked up on my last supermarket run. My 💛 still prefers the Aamras, though! Thank you to the lovely folks at @paperboatdrinks for sending me a new book (which shall be added to my 'to-read' pile immediately). 📚 😊 #blehlovesfood #summer #paperboatdrinks #gimmeit #readinglist #bookstagram (at Pune City)

Saturday afternoon scene - Churrasco lunching at Boteco with the fam. 💜 Here's a hunk of 14-hour slow cooked beef ribs, sliced and served with thyme butter. 😍 Would definitely do this again. Superb meats! 😋👌 (at Boteco - Restaurante Brasileiro)

It's dishes like this place of sticky-sweet Pork Ribs & velvety mash that make the trek across town worth it. Utterly butterly delicious. 😋👌 (at Le Plaisir)

Highlights of the recent pop-up dinner at @LeKebabiere: 🍯Gorgeous Mead (fermented honey wine) by @moonshinemeadery - particularly the Apple Cyser aka liquid gold; 🍺premium Craft Beer by @greatstate.aleworks - the easy drinking Pale Ale with citrus and mango notes was a hit; 🍤and munchies like the Pulled Pork on Prawn Cracker by Chef Shailendra. Really looking forward to the next one. Thank you @nakulbh & @bigcityharmonics for the kind invitation! 🙏 #Pune peeps, you can keep track of their next pop-up by following them on Instagram. While I'm trying to decide what to do with the small bowl of fresh Strawberries sitting in my fridge, my mind swimming with thoughts of this 'Mahabaleshwar Strawberries & Cream' dessert at @thebombaycanteen earlier in the season. 😍 Floating on clouds of lassi cream with crisp pista meringe, wobbly strawberry jelly, biscuit bits, and herbaceous baby basil - this strawberry dessert was a textural delight, and we found ourselves shamelessly scraping the bowl for one last taste. 🍓🍃 In the background is the blushing Pink Guava Tan-ta-tan; another TBC fave that highlights a beautiful fruit. Can't wait to see what they'll whip up once mango season kicks in! 😋 #thebombaycanteen #indiainspired #strawberries #freshfruits #lovefood #eatlocal #getinmybelly #blehlovesfood (at The Bombay Canteen)

#takemeback to my room at @templationsiemreap! It overlooked the pool, and had lovely French windows that opened out onto a small sit-out, surrounded by lush greenery.🌴 Highlights included the exquisitely comfy king-size bed (which I never had a restless night’s sleep in), open-air bathroom; and returning to the room after a long, hot day, to walk barefoot on the smooth wooden floors. 👣 Read more at http://blehlovesfood.com/2017/02/23/templation-siem-reap 🌺 #tbt #templation #blehinCambodia #siemreap #nofilter #sunshine #blehlovesfood #travelgram (at Templation)

I can't believe it slipped my mind, but the blog turned 3 years old earlier this month, on the 3rd of March! 🎂🎉😁 Blehlovesfood is a labour of love, and - though I may have slowed it down a bit lately due to personal reasons - my commitment and passion for writing about food, travel and culture remains fiery as ever! 🔥😉 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far - always encouraging, and pushing me to do better. 🙏💗 Extra thanks and cake to @shwekay for the generous, "most stalkable" feature in last month's Pune Mirror. 💜 xx Divya

This beaut is the Red Snapper Ceviche with kokum solkadhi and crispy black rice. 👌 I convinced my Mum to try it (she's not a fan of cured fish) and she ended up finishing more of it than I had bargained for! 😂 #latergram from my time at @thebombaycanteen earlier this year. (at The Bombay Canteen)

Food Network Needs Better Asian Representation
Duh, right?  There isn’t a single show on the Food Network hosted by someone Asian, unless you count Iron Chef (and we don’t).  Why must we watch non-Asian cooks who can’t pronounce “Sriracha” and don’t have a chopstick drawer show us how to make our own dishes?  And how come, when they do, we have to watch as their entire family mocks it - like in this episode of The Pioneer Woman?
Come on, Food Network.  With chefs like David Chang, Roy Choi, Anita Lo and Niki Nakayama out there - you can do better than this.

Feminism is not a dirty word. It does not mean you hate men, it does not mean you hate girls that have nice legs and a tan, and it does not mean you are a bitch or a dyke. It means you believe in equality. - Kate Nash. Today is International Women's Day - the point of which (I feel) has been diluted and turned into some kind of commerical for capitalism. It's important to remember to SPEAK UP - not just today, but every day. Not just for women - but for LGBTQ rights, gender equality, and anyone who has been marginalised by the patriarchy. 💕 #everydayiswomensday #smashthepatriarchy #goodvibesonly #feministandproud

Trying the Thai Yellow Curry with tofu, veggies & organic brown rice from the revamped menu at @oneoeightcafe for lunch, today. I recently became aware that my body is intolerant towards dairy and gluten (mainly white flour), which really sucks, because as you know, I 💜 my food. This just means making healthier choices, which is bloody hard to do (though I do indulge, occasionally) - but places like One O Eight make eating healthy a delicious affair. Thank you, Bree - you made me love vegan food! 😘 (at One O Eight Cafe)
