My dilemma is I like Sonic Boom a LOT more than You Can Do Anything, but I prefer the rest of the Japanese OST to the American one.

I love that "amy's cousin, robin hood" is actually real. Look it up. And holy crap "Mari-su" is actually real too. I don't even. That would imply ALL of these are real, which is more information than I needed today.

So it's rumored they're remaking Sonic Heroes... And this was my first thought: Amy: Y'know, this road trip has got me thinking. Maybe it's time we got the old crew back together? Cream: Sounds fun! Let's go! Big: Hang on, I need to consult Froggy. [...] He agrees. Sage: ! Eggman: What's happening? Sage: I felt a great disturbance. As if millions of Badniks suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. [Epic trailer voice] The breaker of SA2 multiplayer. The breaker of Sonic Advance. The breaker of Cyberspace, and the Internet. SONIC HEROES: REVENGE OF TEAM ROSE

So this just makes me wonder two things: 1: How often did Crane get: "Bro to bro, what's up with you and Dragon?" 2: Are there Ancient counterparts of other characters? For example... Hawk: "I used to be these guys' enemy, but now I'm just a loner who helps them sometimes because they'd be lost without me. But they're NOT my friends or anything. (Also, I'm the coolest) Panther: "I don't know why I'm here. I just like fishing."

We speculated before, but the four Ancient pilots really do represent our heroes. A soldier filled with love, a powerful warrior, a protégé/inventor, and a brave hero who inspired others.
Tumblr media
And just like with Sonic, they were the Supreme's dearest friends. He sacrificed himself to protect them.

Apologies for this temporarily turning into a Sonic blog, but since getting back into the series recently, I realized I'd posted a lot of tier lists here in the past and never did a Sonic one, so... here's one I whipped up in 10 minutes. Important note: my first Sonic game was Adventure 2, never played any of the classic games. Favourite game is Generations, gameplay-wise. Explanations: Amy: Death incarnate in SA2 multiplayer, enough said. (Also surprisingly deep when she's not flanderized) Sonic himself: Surprisingly deep when he's not flanderized. Wait. Eggman: It says something that even most who don't like the Colors-era writing STILL think his PA announcements there are perfection and in-character. Big: If you don't put him in S-Tier, he'll hunt you down, challenge you to a fishing duel, and reel in 50 Sea Guardians in a freshwater lake. (i.e, I'm in part of his "ironic fandom that gradually turned non-ironic") Gamma: Somehow, a generic mook had the deepest story in the franchise. Vector: His position is almost entirely because of the Team Chaotix theme song. Tails: I watched "Alone Again, Unnaturally" from Boom recently and it kinda summed up my thoughts on him. I was not expecting that ep to turn so wholesome at the end. Blaze: Rush is good. Being one of the only remotely playable characters in 06 (arguably even more than Sonic) is also a huge achievement. Silver: My liking for him is almost entirely ironic, sorry Silver fans. But he's the source of a LOT of 06's unintentional hilarity, and that's memorable. He's decent in the comic so far, though. Tikal: Decent plot in Adventure. Her voice is slightly annoying though. Not sure why Chaos isn't here, but he'd be low-mid B. Sticks: I've watched a bit of Boom, and she's actually pretty funny. Interested to see what comes of Frontiers confirming she's canon to the main universe. Shadow: I'M SORRY, I'm just not a huge fan. (Still looking forward to Movie 3. And hoping for Keanu Reeves playing him, but not sure that'll happen now.) Knuckles: I honestly... don't really "get" him as a character. Looking forward to playing Frontiers and seeing its take (and seeing Movie 2), might make me like him more. Metal Sonic: His position is ENTIRELY due to Heroes. Everywhere else, he's just a flat obstacle. Babylon Rogues: They're basically just jerks, but Wave is higher because her jerkishness is so extreme it's funny (mocking Tails in direct earshot of Sonic, Knuckles and Amy is a "crosses the line twice" moment to me), and her tech specialty makes her stand out. Storm is the lowest, because I sum him up as "Boom Knuckles except not funny." Eggman Nega: Why does he exist? Apparently even Ian Flynn hates him.

So apparently THIS is a thing. (Sonic IDW 64) New headcanon time:
As Silver and Blaze arrive in Soleanna, they were greeted by a disturbing old man in a top hat.
“Greetings! I’m Lord Regis, Soleanna’s new minister for tourism!", he said, wildly flailing his arms, "How may I help you?”
“We’re looking for Kingdom Valley”, said Blaze. “I have heard it’s a historic landmark of great beauty.”
“And so it is! Very popular with tourists, that one. But there’s a catch. In order to enter Kingdom Valley, you must first pass the Trials of Soleanna!”
Silver felt a splitting headache for reasons he couldn’t explain.
“We’ll… think about that. For now, just show us to our hotel.”
“Ah, yes. All our hotels are located in Soleanna New City. But in order to enter there”, Lord Regis said, “you must first find the Captain!”
A minute of total silence passed.
“On second thoughts”, said Blaze, “let’s not go to Soleanna. It's a silly place.”
As the two left, levitating luggage in tow, Silver could be heard yelling from the distance:
“How is this not in their tourism brochures?!”   [The funniest part is, according to actual Sonic 06 dialogue, Soleanna canonically is known for tourism. WHY is a mystery.]

If Moments From Media I'm Following Were A D&D Game
It's so weird that I'm "resurrecting" this mostly-dead Tumblr for THIS, but a flash of dumb inspiration just hit me after watching D&D videos. First, Netflix One Piece, Episode 4. Zoro's Player: THIS TIME, I'm making it out of this damn well. DM: Make another Strength check. Zoro's Player: ...If I flashback to my tragic backstory, do I get advantage? DM: I'll allow it. The second is the Metal Virus arc from the Sonic The Hedgehog IDW comics, which I recently bought. Just skimmed bits of it and I agree the one low point is how Shadow is handled... but it's fun picturing it as a D&D session: DM: You just touched another Zombot, so make another Con save. Sonic's Player: I warned you! Shadow's Player: It's fine, I've got the most OP character in this campaign! [Rolls] Oh. Wait, I have advantage. [Rolls] AH DAMN IT! Rouge's Player: No. You did NOT just roll two 1's in a row. Omega's Player: AHAHAHAHA! YES!!! Sonic's Player: Enjoy your levels of exhaustion, buddy! DM: You thought you, the ultimate life form, were immune to this. As your hand turns to silver, you learn the hard way that you were wrong. By the way it's still your turn. Rouge's Player: "Shadow, run!" ...In-character, I'm concerned. Out-of-character, he's going to TPK us SO HARD if he turns. Shadow's Player: Do I see an escape route? DM: You're surrounded, but on the plus side, you don't need to worry about opportunity attacks infecting you! And you've still got unspent Chaos Points. Sonic's Player: Oh crap he does still have those. Can Zombots use Chaos Control? DM: You'll find out next round. Shadow? Shadow's Player: How many Zombots still on the truck? DM: About 20, 30. Shadow's Player: And how're Rouge and Omega looking? Rouge's Player: We're not... great. Shadow's Player: Okay. I growl "I don't run!", activate Action Surge and keep fighting. Everyone: NO!!! Tails' Player: Welp, it's been a good campaign. Shadow's Player: You said this party was too happy, so I made an edgelord. You should've seen this coming. Charmy's Player: Seriously, you lost SHADOW?! Shadow's Player: Says the one who cost Team Chaotix their Bard. Charmy's Player: He's a 6-year-old kid, he's SUPPOSED to be dumb!

Phantom of Harajuku
I haven’t posted here in ages, but I guess this is a better place to share my dumb P5 short fanfic than Youtube comments, until I make an AO3 account. Mishima, Ren, Ryuji and Ann were hanging out on a perfectly normal day in Harajuku.
Or at least it was, until the iron-buckled belt of evil struck.
Sakamoto was the first to fall. He tried to run, but his foe was too clever, a belt whipping out to strike him in the knee, tripping him, before two others tightened around his legs. “I like to call that one… below the belt!”, laughed the mysterious trenchcoated man.
“RYUJI, NO!”, yelled Ann, until a belt around her mouth silenced her screams, and another around her waist prevented her escape.
Ren Amamiya and his weird cat could only watch in horror, frozen, at this unexpected assault. He barely had time to reflect on the situation when yet another belt whipped out from the foe’s coat and bound his arms behind his back.
“Mwahahahaha! The puny Phantom Thieves have fallen, and now I, Captain Trenchcoat, will rule Harajuku!!”
Ren, through winces of pain, could only mutter:
“Mishima… it’s all… up to you now… you have… to save us…!”
The flames of justice ignited in Mishima’s soul, and he knew what he had to do.
“The Phantom Thieves will never fall to one such as you!”, he yelled triumphantly, and with that, the street was engulfed in a crimson light.
In a flash, Mishima was gone, and in his place stood a dashing rogue dressed in a black tailcoat, wearing an extravagant top hat and stylish monocle (that Mishima had trouble seeing though, not that it stopped him).
“Your reign of tyranny is over! I, the greatest Phantom Thief, Jester, have come to take your distorted desires!”
The people gasped in awe. “It’s the true leader of the Phantom Thieves!”, they cried, “He’s so awesome, and not a loser!”
“People of the Phandom, give me your energy!”, Mishima, er, “Jester” yelled and posed wildly.
An orb of power grew in his hands, and as he released it, the burst disintegrated the belts holding Ryuji, Ann and Ren in an instant. “Noooooooooo!”, cried Captain Trenchcoat. “How can one person be so amazing!”
His lament was quickly silenced as a calling card streaked through the air, striking him in the center of his forehead. The villain fell to his hands and knees and begged: “I yield, Phantom Thief! I shall confess my crimes and atone for my evil ways!” The people of Tokyo cheered uproariously. Suddenly, three maids from Akihabara rushed to Mishima’s side, hugging him tightly.
“Oh Mishima-senpai, you’re so wonderful!”, one giggled.
“How can we ever repay you for saving us”, another wondered.
“I know”, the third said seductively. “Close your eyes…” She leant her lips in close and said, in a deep, gravelly voice:
 “Are you listening??”
Mishima had barely jolted back to harsh reality when he got a second reality check, as a piece of chalk slammed into his forehead.
“Pay attention! Ugh, kids these days…”, Ushimaru grumbled.
“Maybe we should change your heart.”, Mishima muttered under his breath as he glanced towards the windows, where Ren and Ann sat.
One day they’d show the whole world. Show them how awesome he, er, the Phantom Thieves, really were.

MCU Films Sorter
I had a feeling there’d be one of these, though it took me a few tries to find a “current” one. (relatively speaking. This one goes up to Endgame. https://jesseepinkman.tumblr.com/mcumovie) Note: this is just my opinion, and I’m not a comics fan, I just watch the films.  1 Thor: Ragnarok 2 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 3 Spider-Man: Far From Home 4 Avengers: Endgame 5 Avengers: Infinity War 6 Black Panther 7 Captain America: The First Avenger 8 Spider-Man: Homecoming 9 Captain America: Civil War 10 The Avengers 11 Ant-Man 12 Iron Man 13 Captain America: The Winter Soldier 14 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 15 Doctor Strange 16 Iron Man 3 17 Captain Marvel 18 Thor 19 Ant-Man and the Wasp 20 Avengers: Age of Ultron 21 Iron Man 2 22 Thor: The Dark World 23 The Incredible Hulk The only ranking I’m not sure about is Ant-Man and The Wasp. It’s the only one I never saw in cinemas (came out at a time when I was getting sick of superhero films), so I’ve only watched it once on Netflix and I was doing other stuff in the background at the time.  I feel like the bottom of my list is pretty consistent with the general fandom opinions (Hulk is only below Dark World because it really doesn’t feel like an MCU film to me), but the top half of my list might not be.  A few elaborations: Guardians Vol 1 is number 2 for a very strange reason: I think it’s the closest we’ll get to a real Ratchet and Clank movie. (Yes, even the 2016 one) I think if they made the Ratchet and Clank games into a film, keeping the humour, action and tone of the original trilogy, the end result would look almost EXACTLY like Guardians Vol 1.  (Similar note: I consider the Wonder Woman film the closest thing we’ll get to a Valkyria Chronicles movie) Far From Home has my favourite villain in the entire MCU, by a long shot. It ranks this high on my list almost ENTIRELY because of the villain.  I didn’t mean for Infinity War and Endgame to end up next to eachother, but it fits.  Black Panther and First Avenger have unique settings that make them stand out from the other origin stories. I also just have a soft spot for First Avenger in general and I’m not sure exactly why.  Civil War did a decent job of Superheroes vs Superheroes without too much angst and amazingly managed to keep both sides pretty sympathetic. (If you know me, you’ll know that I find “grey and grey morality” stories very hard to pull of without one or more sides coming across as completely unlikable)  If I could sum up Ant Man, it’s “fun”. That’s why it ranks above the other origins.  Iron Man 1 actually aged surprisingly well, and avoids some of the pitfalls of later films.  Winter Solder. I’ve said this before during Persona Q commentary, but I just don’t get why this is so highly regarded. I don’t think it’s BAD at all, but it just feels like a generic action movie to me. People say it “saved” Cap for them, but I liked him just fine in First Avenger.  Guardians Vol 2. They went too far with the humour here, the first film balanced it better. However, there’s still some good moments, like Rocket and Yondu’s development, and Ego is a decent villain.  Captain Marvel. I sum it up as “this felt like a Phase 1 film”. It it were released earlier I might have liked it more. (Also, uncanny valley CGI Nick Fury) I’m waiting to see if a sequel develops her more.

Wait, how could I forget this one? -I don’t like Id - Purpose. At all. I think it’s a lame final chapter theme.
“Opinions that get your Fire Emblem card revoked.”
I saw a tweet about that and I’ve actually always wanted to share some of mine, so here we go: -Battle Before Dawn is my favourite chapter in FE7. Yes it’s a triple NPC protect mission with FoW, but I LOVE the storyline of this map, and first time playing Jaffar was the LAST character I expected to be redeemable and recruitable, so the moment always stands out in my mind.  -Conquest is my “favourite” of the three storylines of Fates. Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s BAD. I just think Birthright and Revelation are even worse, and Conquest at least has elements like Garon that I find “so bad they’re hilarious”. Birthright is just boring and throws in cheap deaths for the sake of “boo hoo sad” while Revelation builds its entire premise on the kingdom that only exists to be a giant plot contrivance.  -Thracia 776 isn’t that hard. It only has a few really brutal chapters but most of it is actually pretty easy. I think FE6 is much more consistently difficult, even on Normal. -I see zero romantic chemistry between Robin and Chrom in FE Awakening in the main story, and don’t like their supports. Like, I get why people ship Byleth and Dimitri (even if I personally don’t), but I can only ever see Chrom and Robin as close friends, and I think Awakening’s story works better when Robin has a family outside of Chrom’s. (It gives the decision in Chapter 21 a lot more weight to me) -Aside from the Blood Pact, I actually really like Radiant Dawn’s story. Until Three Houses, I thought the first half of Part 3 was the only FE story to actually feel like a real war.  -I think Three Houses is a fantastic game. But I don’t think it’s a good FIRE EMBLEM game. The combat just isn’t very tactical, even on Maddening.

Fire Emblem Games tier list maker and lol Three Houses isn’t even here. It would go between Sacred Stones and Tear Ring Saga in A Tier, I think.  What surprised me most is how much I like Sacred Stones. It’s the combination of a small but well-developed and memorable cast, decent story for what it is, fun map design and killer soundtrack that make it one of my favourites.  Yes, I like Fates Birthright less than Revelation. Revelation gets points for at least definitively ending the story, even though it’s a bad story. Birthright, to me, is just Awakening with slightly better map design but worse story and an overall unpolished feel.  Most of the others you’ve probably heard me go over before, but it was REALLY hard to rank Heroes, since it’s so different and honestly I only play it for the voice acting.

My Pokemon games tier list maker. This is just my personal opinion, but here’s where I’d rank everything.  Notes: The gap between HG/SS, Emerald and BW2 is EXTREMELY thin, I love all three and which one holds my title of “2nd favourite” changes depending on my mood. BW are still my all-time favourites though.  Yes, OG GSC is still in A Tier. I think they hold up surprisingly well and improved on Gen 1 so much they deserve the spot.  I kind of do rank ORAS only slightly above the originals. I wish I liked Sun/Moon more but there was just something about them that felt a bit under-polished. Great story and characters though. Sword/Shield ended up falling victim to “reverse hype backlash” for me and I had way more fun with them than I expected to.  I like XY a lot more than I used to but I still don’t rank them too high. FRLG are meh.  Gen 1 is a glitchfest, original DP I agree with Tanma Hero’s review on them entirely.

My First Hearing of “Life Will Change”
So recently I was thinking of how I interpreted the lyrics of this song the first time I heard it, back before we had official lyrics. I think some of this was based on estimations I’d read, others were my own guesses based on the general trend of Persona English lyrics.  So in case anyone’s interested, here’s how I heard this song originally: (Actual lyrics: https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Life_Will_Change) It's not a cage I'm not a robot and I’m challenging you I'm never better I'm in your face and I'm here to see it through Cry before your eyes Watch us multiply Come to claim our rise - it's time Eyes upon our foes Tryin' to stop our show Might as well go try stop time So you know that we're out there Swatting lies in the making Can't move fast without breaking Can't hold on or life won't change And our voices ring out there Took our masks off to be free Fought it out in the debris Now we know that life will change I never strayed I'm not a big man, don’t you give it no mind I'm just as fearless I'm just as dangerous As you’ll soon know you'll find Make up your amends Fight and nev’r regret Fight inside your head, your heart And as we’re freed from reign Try to fight in vain You’re about to fall apart And you'll know we were out there Swatted lies in the making Your empire for the taking Can't hold on or life won't change And our voices rang out there Took our masks off to be free Fought it out in the debris Now we know that life will change
