a Joe-centric one-shot, wherein Joe . . . hasn’t gotten over Tom; not yet.  But some company can help ease that.
Set between chapters 1 & 3 of We are the Dead.

A shippy Joe/Will cut scene from chapter 9 of the guns below / now we lie.  --Which is to say, Will returns to the Devons, but mostly he returns to Joe.

the parting glass
by Ealasaid
Rating: G Warnings: None apply Wordcount: ~1250 Summary: A few months after his brother’s death, Joseph Blake makes an effort to get out. It isn’t a miracle cure for his grief, but an evening out serves to remind him that good company can do something for alleviating one’s melancholy.

Blakefield & 1917: when you find a ship highly problematic but you literally cannot interact with the fandom without being confronted by it
–Which is to say, I have Things I need to Get Off My Chest.  I’m typing this here because I think I have finally figured out why I don’t understand the popularity of Blakefield and why it honest to goodness squicks me out.
What it comes down to is how Blake repeatedly demonstrates a significant disregard for Schofield’s life, his safety, and his perspective in the first thirty minutes of the movie in ways that raise truly gigantic red flags to people with/who have experienced trauma.
In order of occurrence, they are:
Blake picks Schofield for the mission.
Blake does not ask any questions of the General.
Blake neither solicits nor listens to Schofield’s concerns.
I will explore these one by one beneath the cut.

There’s this ask reddit post about your weirdest childhood and the story is about this guy who was playing in the woods by a creek with his friend when a guy in full late 1800s formal clothing including a top hat just walked out of the forest, said “Hello boys!” and kept walking. This is why I want historical clothing so badly. The ultimate prank.

WE FINALLY GOT IT PRINTED, YOU GUYS!!!!!
I had one made for myself and one made for Pavuvu <3 <3 <3
This whopping tome is all of the first five works of between the crosses!  It is printed in chronological order, starting with Resonance.  hold it high and We are the Dead follow after, with the guns below and now we lie printed as separate works.  Lastly, poppies grow is at the very end!
--Even cutting out some of the later interludes, it came out to a whopping 654 pages!!!!!!
Guys, I know for SURE that we couldn’t have done it without you!!!  Your comments and messages week after week made this a sheer wonder to be a part of.  Thank you <3
