Is Joy Overrated?
Tumblr media
Our lives so often consist of a series of tasks, obligations, deadlines, and responsibilities, that all we can do is go from one task to another, checking off the accomplishments on the perpetual to-do list. Between that and the current world environment, is it any wonder that we experience stress and weariness as we go about our daily routines? Most of us don’t take the time or make the effort to find joy. Some consider joy frivolous and unnecessary, believing that responsible adults just need to push through and get things done. We are even taught that hardships and suffering build character, make us stronger, and ultimately earn us a place in heaven.
But is that true? Is our ability to produce, accomplish, and push through life more valuable than our sense of joy? The answer is no. Believe it or not, our life is not supposed to be about suffering. That is an idea that was sold to us by those whom it benefited because suffering creates fear, and fear combined with a promise of salvation can lead to both obedience and unceasing hard work. In reality, joy is not only our birthright, it is also a more sustainable and productive way of being. While stress, fear, and anxiety lower our immune system, reduce our energy, and attract into our lives the experiences that resonate with lower-frequency emotions (fear, anger, etc.), joy does the opposite. It strengthens our immune system, increases our life energy, and brings us experiences that resonate with higher-frequency emotions (excitement, love, etc.). In fact, the more joy we can experience, the further we can go in life.
You may be wondering how one could find joy in this crazy, stressful, upside-down world. Well, you find it in the tiniest moments and experiences in your life, and when you can, you build toward a bigger presence of joy. In her book The Joy of Tidying Up, Marie Kondo talks about decluttering our personal spaces. Since things hold energy, when we surround ourselves with cluttered spaces and unused items, the energy around us can become stale and unpleasant. Interestingly enough, when directing people to sort through old socks, Marie doesn’t tell them to decide if the socks might be useful in the future; she invites them to ask themselves if those socks bring them joy. Her goal in working with any space is not to impose structure, but to help it elicit joy.
Stress and anxiety can pull us under even without our awareness, but we can make joy quite intentional. Become aware of the little moments of enjoyment even in the middle of a stressful day. Catch yourself smiling at the sunshine on your face or giggling at the coziness of a warm blanket on a cool night. Intentionally select activities that can increase your joy – spend a few minutes playing with your animal companions, go for a walk, read a book, play a game, or connect with a friend. Simply stop and ask yourself what can I do right now to increase my joy? Then allow yourself the time to do it.
Joy is not a frivolity. It is a powerful engine of transformation that allows us to shift our internal state regardless of external circumstances. It is like tuning the radio to a different station. Once you change the station (i.e., internal state), you will tune into a whole new broadcast (i.e., external reality). So become intentional and choose joy whenever you can. The more joy we can generate individually, the greater our chances of shifting all of humanity out of despair and towards hope. And I think we could all use some of that right now.

Men, Rise!
Tumblr media
A long, long time ago, when the light of human consciousness was still undimmed, there existed a balance between genders. The males and females on this planet intuitively knew their part in the plan (though not necessarily in the way we think of gender roles today). Women were the portals of life and the carriers of spiritual wisdom and guidance, and men were the guardians and protectors. The work of women was truly sacred. Men sought women’s guidance in all decision-making, and in return, they created a safe place for women to do their work.
Today the world evolved to greater complexity in terms of genders and the roles we take on. However, our core original gifts are still within us – women still bring life to the planet and as such, have a stronger connection to spirit and a deeper understanding of the value of life, and men are still built to guard and protect. This, however, applies to the two genders in general and does not obligate every individual to follow a specific path. For example, a woman choosing to serve in the army and never have children should be respected and honored, but it does not negate the broader energetic makeup of the genders.
Recently, a YouTube video triggered within me a memory of the sacred role of men and the deeply powerful safe space that they can create for women within any relationship, a space, in which the women can exhale and feel empowered and uplifted. This, I thought, is what men can truly offer women – a profoundly safe space, not only physically, but mentally, and emotionally.
And yet… at no time in recorded human history did men (collectively) make women (collectively) feel truly safe. Instead, there was a systematic dismantling of the women’s sense of value and safety. Over the centuries, women were stripped of their identity as the spiritual navigation system of humanity and prevented from engaging in their sacred duties. Women lost the ability to manage their lives and were required to be obedient to their male counterparts. Women were denied participation in social and political systems and had to rely on men to shape their lives. Women were stripped of financial independence and were forced to be fully dependent on their male family members. Women were used by men for pleasure and then shamed for it and forced to bear sole responsibility for any consequences. Women lost the ability to control their biological functions and to make choices about the timing and direction of their lives. Women were held responsible for the physical, emotional, and sexual violence that was done to them and had little opportunity for escape. The list can go on and on…
Today’s women learned to keep themselves safe in many different ways – they use martial arts, walk in groups, carry pepper sprays, promote code phrases that can allow one to escape unwanted and potentially violent attention in a public place, and so on. And you may shake your head and think, “poor women,” but let’s be clear, the consequences of the way that women in our world are made to feel are profound for all of us, extending to the entire humanity.
Imagine that a person engages in self-harm (cutting, for example), but only cuts the left arm, always leaving the right arm free of physical scars. You would probably agree that the experience of self-mutilation would affect the whole person regardless of which part of the body was cut. In the same way, when one half of humanity harms the other, the entire humanity feels the pain whether it realizes it or not. When the spiritual guides and wisdom keepers of the species are treated as no more than mommas at a baby mill, the consciousness of the entire planet suffers, and without a strong spiritual guidance system, all of humanity is bound to wander about without finding its path.
We are at a point in human evolution when the consequences of the imbalance between genders (regardless of one’s sexual orientation or individual job preferences) are coming to the surface. We must heal this imbalance so we can move forward as a species, so it is time to remember who women are and what they represent. Men, rise and answer your divine call to be the guardians of humanity. Honor women for their wisdom and their power. Realize that as portals of life women are not only seeded with respect for it, they also carry an innate understanding of how to manage its flow. Rise, men, and use your beautiful strength to create a safe place for women.

Astrology And Your Life
Tumblr media
This month I asked my friend, archetypal astrologer Justin Crockett Elzie to answer a few questions. Justin is an amazing astrologer, and I refer many of my clients to him. Here is our brief interview.
Justin, astrology is considered to be a science by some people and mumbo-jumbo by others. What is your view on it?nWell, astrology has been around for thousands of years, and it was developed as a science in India and the Middle East long before the building of the pyramids or the birth of Christ or Buddha. In the 2nd and 3rd millennia BC, the ancient Babylonians developed detailed charts and complex mathematical calculations of the movement of the planets and stars. They used these to guide their lives. This was an excellent system of prediction. Fast forward to the Middle Ages, and every government and monarchy had a paid astrologer on staff. In fact, during that time every astronomer was also an astrologer. In the early 19th century, Carl Jung, the father of analytical psychology, used astrology with his clients because he found it to be a spiritual tool that illuminated the clients’ underlining issues.
In my work, I have found that it has scientific validity with provable and repeatable results. We know scientifically that the Moon affects the tides and helps the Earth maintain its magnetic shield. Because the human body is mostly water and it generates a bioelectrical field, it stands to reason that the Moon would also affect us. This is evident, for example, in how it affects women’s cycles. Because astrology deals with the influence of the celestial bodies on the Earth and its inhabitants, I view it as a spiritual guidance tool for a person’s path on the planet.nnI know that astrology has different branches that focus on different areas of the human experience. Can you give us an overview?nIf we look back at history, every culture used astrology. As time went on, two major systems developed worldwide – western (Tropical) astrology and eastern (Sidereal) astrology. Under both of those, different paths or focuses developed. However, both are very complementary, and there really is no disagreement in the basics. Over time, different reasons developed for using astrology. nFor example in western astrology, electional, mundane, horary, Hellenistic, or medieval astrology is used for prediction, divination, and identification of the best times for life events. Evolutionary, archetypal, medical, or relationship astrology is used to look at psychological and health issues. Eastern astrology (Vedic or Chinese) also looks at all of these areas. Astrology is useful in all areas of a person’s life, but because astrology is so vast and complex, astrologers focus on different areas. It just depends on what they want to focus on.nnIs astrology something that should be consulted on rare occasions or can it be helpful in everyday life? nI look at it every day because I am really aware of how the Moon affects human consciousness. By the way, there are some current scientific studies in this area that are breaking ground. So I pay attention to where the Moon is for the week to see how it may affect my clients, friends, and me. Astrology shows cycles in a person’s life, and most people would be blown away if they were aware of the patterns in their charts. Usually when the same planetary patterns repeat, certain events happen in our lives, so I use astrology to predict and plan for the future. So I would suggest consulting it daily!nnWe are about to start a new year. What can you tell us about the energies of 2023?nFirst, I look at the year numerologically. So the current year – 2022 – is a 6 year (if you add all the digits), and six means adjustment. This year, we were adjusting to the changes brought about by the pandemic, adjusting to the post-pandemic world. 2023 will be a 7 year, and seven is the time for introspection and analysis, so next year, we will be reflecting on what we have experienced so far and analyzing where we go from here. Currently, Mars (the planet of action and movement) is in Gemini (the sign of communication and learning). It will be there until March of 2023, so this is a great time to get out, experience life and relationships, and create and write. After March, two things will happen – Mars (action/movement) will move into Cancer (the sign of family, mother, and children), and Saturn (the planet of discipline and karma) will move into Pisces (the sign of the unconscious emotions in the collective). At that time, our public discourse will become more focused on children within the context of war and immigration and the role of religion in politics. Jupiter (the planet of good fortune and growth) will travel through Aries (the sign of new beginnings) and enter into Taurus (the sign of material resources), so this will continue to be a good time for starting new financial projects. Collectively, we will continue to focus on resources, such as money and [email protected]://www.justincrockettelzie.com

How Do You Feel About The Dark?
Tumblr media
How do you feel about the dark? Do you find it comforting or distressing?
Wherever we live on this planet, each year we experience a period of colder temperatures and longer periods of darkness. During that time, nature slows down its growth, sheds its clothing, and goes to sleep. People that live in harmony with nature, tend to follow its cues in their own lives, but the rest of us find this time of extended darkness difficult. To help us get through the winter, it may be helpful to understand the symbolism of darkness, which can be seen from two perspectives.
The first one is that of something sinister. If we take the Light to represent high consciousness and love, then the dark is what is experienced when one turns away from the Light – in other words, a lower level of consciousness. We may see darkness as evil because low-level consciousness is often accompanied by lower-frequency emotions of fear, anger, and hatred. Therefore, we associate negative emotions and the behaviors that result from them with the dark. We have even turned this concept into entertainment. The genre of horror, for example, glorifies low consciousness, frightening us with low-frequency human energy and behaviors.
The other view of darkness, however, is quite different. It is the primordial state of creative potential before creation is manifested. It is the unformed consciousness that contains within it the potential for all creation. It is not the dimming of the existing Light, but the state in which the Light has not yet taken form. From this perspective, the darkness represents the womb of creation, it represents our subconscious. It is the space where we can reconnect with all that is and find answers to every question. It is a place of nurturing, of wholeness, of immense creative potential.
If you have a negative reaction to the thought of long nights, consider the following. Nature knows that the dark is a necessary, nurturing time during which it needs to let go of the superficial, stop bearing fruit, and go within, conserving its energy for the upcoming burst of creation. The same applies to humans. Wintertime reminds us of the necessity to step back, reflect, reassess, and regroup. The long hours of the night invite us to go within, reflect on the past, and plan (dream) for the future.
In Greek mythology, the darkness of the night represented the underworld, but if we replace the concept of “under-world” with the concept of “sub-conscious,” the dark stops representing death, grief, and sadness, and starts to identify a deeper, wiser part of ourselves, which we can only reach when we leave behind our busy, external selves. If we don’t take the time to let go of the external stimuli and withdraw from the everyday level of awareness, we will simply go into overdrive and lose the ability to be creative and productive. So I invite you to welcome the dark (whether within the span of a day or a year). Embrace it, settle into it, relax, reflect, and dream your future into existence.

What’s Wiser – Your Head Or Your Heart?
Tumblr media
When making important decisions, we typically try to think through all the options, straining our brains to come up with the best solutions. In the process, we often stress, overthink, and become anxious. We rely on our heads to figure everything out. But in doing that, we make a grave error because our brains are not everything they are cracked up to be
We have been told that all our intelligence resides in the brain, but that is not accurate. The entire human body is a system of intelligence that communicates with us all the time. We learned that our head is in charge, and everything else should be subordinate to it, but that is not true. Our brains are capable of collecting, sorting, and filtering information, as well as analyzing options and predicting outcomes. Our heads are capable of a lot, but they are not in charge. Our hearts are much more powerful. The hearts speak the language of the soul, so when we hear our hearts, we can hear the truth.
Because the brain communicates linearly (words strung into sentences), we find its messages recognizable and easily acceptable, believing it is the only thing that makes sense. The heart does not speak a human language; it does not produce thoughts. It communicates through emotions and sensations that can then be translated into human speech. This type of communication is unfamiliar to us, and so we naturally tend to misunderstand and dismiss it. But as comfortable as we are with the thoughts in our heads, leaving the heart out of the conversation is a serious mistake.
Based on the research done by the HeartMath Institute (https://www.heartmath.org/), the heart is about 60 times greater electrically and up to 5,000 times stronger magnetically than the brain. As a result, more signals are sent from the heart to the brain than from the brain to the heart. Our heads house powerful “computers” that process a lot of input, but the brain of our operation, pardon the pun, does not reside there. It lives in our hearts.
Learning to communicate with the heart is a skill that can be easily developed by anyone. Energetically, the heart center is located in the center of the chest, not in the physical organ. That is the place to tune into when you want guidance and sound decision-making. Try this. Sit down quietly, and slow down your conscious thoughts. Focus on nothing. Let sensations come to you. If you have a specific question, ask it in your mind (ex: Should I do X?) or imagine yourself doing X. Then shift your focus to your heart center. How does it respond? Is there warmth or a sensation of comfort or safety? Do you get any other sensations in your body (like a chill or tingling)? Do you get a sense that you know the answer even though you can’t quite put it into words yet? All of these are things to pay attention to, and the more you do, the more comfortable you will become with the responses, and the clearer they will become.
We have been taught to believe that listening to one’s heart is a weakness, but this just served to separate us from the only true guiding system – our spiritual connection. So I say, listen to your heart! Let it guide you! Let it give you solutions! And then allow your head to figure out how to implement them. When our heads and our hearts work together, we come into a state of coherence or order, and that is a very powerful state indeed.
Source- What's wiser: your head or your heart? It's a timeless question, as reason and logic guide the head, while emotions and passion drive the heart.

5 Surprising Benefits Of Hypnotherapy For Your Health
Tumblr media
“Hypnosis is like falling asleep, and a hypnotist can make you do things against your will.” These are often the most common ideas about hypnosis that are being promoted in movies and on television. That hypnosis can be used to make someone commit a crime, disclose a secret, or even fall in love are highly erroneous assumptions about the use of hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy (the therapeutic use of hypnosis) is a very effective modality that uses the power of suggestion to bring about positive changes in mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Positive suggestions given to people in a state of trance (or heightened focus) bypass the conscious mind and travel directly into the subconscious, where our habits and beliefs are stored.
Hypnotherapy can deal with the root cause of an issue at a subconscious level, enabling you to break through the mental barriers and limiting thought patterns that prevent you from accessing the positive changes you want to create in your life.
But what are the benefits of hypnotherapy for health?  Hypnosis can provide numerous health advantages. Here are just five health benefits of Hypnotherapy that you may find surprising.
1.  Alleviates stress and anxiety-
https://awakenedhypnosis.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Hypnosis-is-Like-Sleep-2.jpg
There are great benefits of hypnotherapy for anxiety. Hypnotherapy is a medication-free intervention that can allow you to reduce or eliminate stress and anxiety by taking you into an altered state of consciousness and helping you unwind and practice finding balance even when faced with stressful circumstances.
A trance is a great place to release stressful thoughts, feelings, or emotions in a safe environment. In hypnosis, you can easily experience peace and safety and learn how to return to this state of relaxation and relief on your own.
2.
Nighttime is crucial for recharging our bodies and preparing our minds for the next day, and it is exhausting to experience restless nights while you toss and turn in bed.
Hypnotherapy not only can address the issues that may be causing restlessness and anxiety, which prevent you from sleeping, but the natural state of relaxation achieved during hypnosis can increase slow-wave sleep, allowing for restorative rest and a reduction in insomnia, sleep apnea, and other sleep-related issues.
3. Stops hot flashes-
https://awakenedhypnosis.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Hypnosis-is-Like-Sleep-3.jpg
Hot flashes are sudden feelings of warmth and perspiration that women experience during menopause and post-menopause. Hypnosis can bring relief by making hot flashes less frequent and lower in intensity. You can be taught self-hypnosis techniques that can help you regulate physical sensations whenever needed.
This would allow you not only to find physical comfort, but also regain peace of mind and a sense of control.
4. Speeds up recovery-
Tumblr media
Hypnotherapy can be a great partner to physical therapy and throughout any recovery after a medical procedure. Under hypnosis, you can retrain the atrophied muscles to perform at their full capacity because trance offers a safe way to exercise muscles without any danger of overworking them.
The gentle guidance of hypnosis can not only direct the body to restore its functioning, but can assist in improving your state of mind, and reduce the length of recovery.
5. Reduces chronic pain-
Tumblr media
Living with pain can be physically debilitating and emotionally devastating. Hypnosis can provide a safe and natural way to deal with pain, reducing or even eliminating dependency on pain medications. In a trance, you can learn and practice specific pain-reducing techniques that can be used by you whenever needed.
The ways in which hypnosis can  regulate physical state and improve one’s state of mind  are just some of the medical benefits of hypnotherapy. For people who face discomfort on a weekly or daily basis, hypnotherapy can provide a safe and natural way of bringing on desired relief.
Now, when you think of hypnosis, remember the benefits it can offer. What area of your physical, mental, or emotional well-being do you wish you could improve?

Cultivating Inner Transformation: The Power Of Spiritual Coaching In Personal Development
Tumblr media
Are you finding yourself on the path of spiritual awakening or simply wondering if spiritual coaching can help you achieve personal goals? Let’s dive into the realm of spiritual coaching to uncover its incredible benefits.
What is spiritual coaching?
Spiritual coaching is the process of learning and realignment, in which a person can expand awareness of self and the greater reality while letting go of outdated, limiting beliefs and perceptions.
A spiritual coach is a guide and mentor who helps individuals explore and develop their spiritual beliefs, practices, and experiences. A coach supports, teaches, guides, and provides the tools for deepening one’s connection with the Divine and the inner truth, and helping individuals find purpose and achieve personal goals and fulfillment.
A study published in the Journals of Positive Psychology found that individuals who engage in spiritual practices (for example, meditation), experience higher levels of well-being and life satisfaction. A spiritual coach can provide individuals with guidance and support to cultivate these practices.
1. Benefits of spiritual coaching:
Tumblr media
Spiritual coaching can create profound, life-altering benefits. It can help with boosting self-awareness, igniting inner transformation, reconnecting with one’s authentic self, and enhancing overall well-being.
2. Self-discovery and Self-Awareness:
Tumblr media
One of the primary benefits of greater awareness and understanding of oneself. Spiritual coaches assist individuals in exploring beliefs, values, perceptions of reality, the meaning of life, the significance of life’s events, and one’s direction and purpose.
They guide clients to tap into their inner wisdom, helping them see themselves and their experiences from a higher perspective. Self-reflection combined with the knowledge of spiritual reality helps individuals gain clarity about their authentic selves, enabling them to make conscious choices aligned with their values and goals.
3. Connection with Higher Power:
Tumblr media
For many individuals, spirituality involves connecting with a higher power, God, the universe, or divine energy. This connection with higher power can offer solace, inspiration, and inner strength. Spiritual coaching provides a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore and strengthen a loving relationship with their creator.
Spirituality Coach helps clients deepen their spiritual practices, such as meditation, prayer, or mindfulness, enabling them to find peace and inner guidance.
4. Emotional Healing and Well-being:
Tumblr media
Every person born on this planet experiences some emotional wounds and traumas, and addressing them is an important part of spiritual life coaching. Spiritual coaches assist individuals in understanding and processing their experiences and emotions. They also offer tools to release past trauma that may hinder personal growth.
Coaches use different tools to facilitate emotional healing. These may include energy work, visualization, and emotional release processes. The goal of spiritual coaching is to release old scars and promote overall well-being so that individuals can experience peace, joy, and emotional resilience.
5. Enhanced Intuition and Decision-Making:
Tumblr media
Spiritual coaching emphasizes reliance on inner guidance and wisdom. Therefore, coaches help individuals develop their intuition, reconnect with their body wisdom, and strengthen their ability to make aligned decisions.
Coaches may teach clients different ways of accessing inner guidance. By relying on intuition, individuals can make choices that resonate with their authentic selves, which can lead to a more fulfilling and purpose-driven life.
6. Meaning and Purpose:
Tumblr media
Spirituality coaching can bring a sense of meaning and purpose to an individual’s life. Coaches help clients gain greater clarity about their areas of learning, as well as strengths, limitations, interests, and abilities. Coaches guide clients through the process of exploration, discovery, and alignment, in which the individuals can make new choices and decisions about their future.
Spiritual coaching encourages individuals to explore their unique gifts and talents, empowering them to live purpose-driven lives while experiencing greater flexibility, joy, and satisfaction.
7. Overcoming Limiting Beliefs and Attitudes:
Tumblr media
Limiting beliefs are deeply ingrained thoughts or patterns that hold individuals back from reaching their full potential and from engaging with the world with an open heart. By overcoming limiting beliefs, individuals can break free from self-imposed limitations, opening up new possibilities for personal growth.
Spiritual coaching assists individuals in identifying, understanding, and releasing limiting beliefs and attitudes. By using a variety of methods (for example, affirmations and reframing), coaches help clients transform negative thoughts into empowering beliefs and adopt a more heart-centered attitude to life.
8. Feeling Motivated and Uplifted:
Tumblr media
Spiritual coaching helps individuals develop an uplifted state of being, tapping into elevated emotions, such as acceptance, appreciation, compassion, excitement, etc. Coaches help clients develop a mindset of gratitude, which cultivates a sense of abundance and fosters personal growth and well-being.
Additionally, spiritual coaching promotes compassion towards oneself and others, fostering empathy, forgiveness, and kindness. These qualities also contribute to personal growth by enhancing relationships, promoting emotional well-being, and creating a harmonious environment.
Conclusion:
Spiritual coaching offers numerous benefits for personal growth. By facilitating self-discovery, connecting with a higher power, healing emotional wounds, enhancing intuition, and promoting meaning and purpose, spiritual coaching empowers individuals to lead fulfilling and authentic lives.
If you seek to explore your spiritual path, gain self-awareness, and unlock your true potential, spiritual coaching can offer you an empowering structure and support on your journey of personal discovery and evolution.
