i need to get these feeling out or im gonna be crushed. There's normally one song that brings you comfort, yeah? I have one. And i have one that does the exact opposite. The opposite is playing right now, and I dont think i can handle it. Its not just the song, its the emotions behind the lyrics that get to me. That drag me down like an anchor. And even if i turn the song off, THE ANCHOR IS STILL THERE. it wont let go until i forget about it. I just- i know nobody will understand this, but if you do, i hope things are going well for you.

My mom is infuriating. So im making dinner as of posting, and we dont have brown gravy for SOS. I find some hamburger helper in the cabinet, and suggested that i could make that instead. BUT NO- SHE WANTS TO BE PETTY AND BITCHY TO ME BECAUSE I FORGOT TO CHECK EARLIER. Im just standing in front of the stove seething because i wanted hamburger helper. OK IM LOSING MY MIND OVER NIMONA HEADCANONS SO IM MAKING ONE OF MY OWN BUT ITS... depressing.

So, any and all ppl who've had a limb removed, you still felt it somehow, yeah? Thats a thing called "Phantom Pain syndrome" (its real, i did research)

So, since bal had his arm... removed... he's had occasional instances of phantom pains. Nimona saw this happen once. off screen i feel, but still. She was scared because she didn't know what was happening to him. After the director's temper tantrum, bal's phantom pain somehow worsened. The first time it happened around ambrosius, there was a very long talk about what happened that day, how it affected them both, so on so forth. When nimona came back, it disappeared basically. It only happened when bal was home alone afterwards. But the pain was worse than all previous instances...

Anyways-

THIS MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNEASY ALL OF A SUDDEN.

A line I don’t think gets talked about enough:

“He didn’t cut off my arm. He was disarming a weapon. It’s how we were trained.”

The Institute took young kids and turned them into weapons. The Knights were trained to view themselves and their bodies as weapons.

Ambrosius cutting off Ballister’s arm was ingrained instinct. You can see in his face that he doesn’t realize what he’s doing until it’s too late, until the blade is already too far along in it’s swing. And after, he drops his sword like he didn’t realize how it got into his hand in the first place. He looks at Ballister with a dawning horror of what he’s just done, on instinct.

And then, the big fight. There’s a reason Ballister was top of the class. When fighting the guards he isn’t touched. In the middle of fighting Ambrosius, he cloths-lines a guard behind him WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING. Ambrosius doesn’t even look surprised that Ballister won, as if it’s normal, as if Ballister had always won their duels before.

I just. I have a lot of thoughts about this and I don’t have the words to express them. I just want other people to see what I see and talk about it too. To think about the implications of that line and how it’s delivered in a matter-of-fact way.
