He simply can’t fall asleep until he knows you have fallen sleep. Of course, he won't admit this to you. But, he always makes sure he's in a position where he can either see your face or hear you breathing. With his arms around you, making sure you feel safe with him, he'll pretend to fall asleep along with you. Only then when he knows your breathing steadies and your eyes relax is when he can finally allow himself to fully relax his body. His natural nature is to protect you, and protecting you when your sleeping is nothing different. It's the way he is, and he genuinely can't help put planting a soft kiss to your forehead, hoping it brings security to you.

He tends to like to stay up and immerse himself in either a book or work. But, at your request, he'll do it in bed next to you. You'll be cozied up next to him, lying right as his side. He'll either have his hand stroking your hair or holding your hand. Whatever work he can manage with one hand he will accomplish. And of course, it's quite easy to read a book with one hand. And by the time he's finished, he'll notice your figure sleeping soundly with that content expression you normally have. A soft smile crosses his lips and he turns off the light beside him, lying down next to you to get a peaceful night of rest with you by his side.

He always ensures that you're comfortable and prepared to relax in bed before he can even think of getting himself ready for bed. Whether you need medication before bed, a warm cup of hot tea, or some sort of nightly ritual, he will make sure it's all done. Of course, you have to remind him that he is just as important. So, this entire time, you are also making sure that he's doing what he needs to do before bed. Luckily, the two of you can develop a routine together in no time. You work together, then flop into bed, exhausted. But it's all worth it to be able to spend what seems to be insufficient time together, but it's so much more to the two of you.

His tactic of helping you go to sleep is whispering into your ear and allowing his voice to fill the night air. Just simple, "I love you so much" and "You are absolutely perfect, my love" are his absolute favourites. He loves rambling on about how amazing you are to him, and even about his day, if you ask about it. He also adores listening to your voice, if you don't feel too tired to talk. But if you are, that's okay. He will happily continue to talk and allow his voice to lull you to sleep. Even once he's sure you've fallen asleep, he'll continue with some small loving words. "Goodnight my beloved. May your dreams be nothing but sweet."
