I've finally progressed Gwen's storyline to LWS2 and Belinda just died via giant thorn thing.

I do like how contained Marjory's grief is—it'd be easy to overplay, especially given that we barely know Belinda. But there's something muted about her that seems very Marjory thus far.

I think Gwen is fairly professional in her dealings with the new gang—she likes them, but at heart she's pretty emotionally guarded, and only more so after Claw Island. But given her history with her sister Deborah's apparent death/disappearance/enslavement in the "Missing Sister" arc, I think she'd have a particular sympathy for Marjory here.

I mean, it happens regardless of your personal story, but there's a particular resonance there I like for the narrative in my head!

I hadn't realized until yesterday that you could actually max out Astral acclaim and won't be able to get more unless you use some of it up. I'm definitely a "save for a rainy day" kind of player, so I was sort of flailing.

Forcing people to use up the acclaim is an interesting mechanic, anyway—I can see why they might have done it, but idk.

I finally finished the Living World Season 1, I think over ten years after it was released!

I enjoyed the overall story more than I had recalled from the parts of it I did play back in the original release, though the endless Aetherblade respawns in "Escape from Lion's Arch" are intensely annoying. On the other hand, early career Snargle! <3

I'm trying to get over being annoyed, though, given how long I'd waited to see that first onscreen kiss between Marjory and Kasmeer—only for the family member who was working on the season with me to insist on playing the later stages of the Season 1 story arc with their gaming friends and having us all on Discord, when most of the friends are fairly conservative and had running commentary. It wasn't unhinged rants, but waiting ten years for a f/f kiss only to see it with "ew, onscreen?" in the background was really frustrating.

I found some bullshit excuse for noping out after Scarlet's death and then quietly finished the story after, without the pressure to just get going and stop talking to all the NPCs, etc. That was far more enjoyable (Marjory brought Kas flowers despite being the one injured ... <3 <3), but there are some things I just cannot solo and really wish I could, despite the whole "it's an MMO" thing.

But finally, Season 1 is done! Now for scraping together the last achievements...

I'm working through the personal story with my paladin Guardian, and I'd forgotten how much fun it is to do missions with Logan as a Guardian. For one, I like him, and for another, it feels like we're unkillable gods.

ngl, removing daily log-in rewards is the first SOTO news that I've had serious reservations about. There have definitely been times when I only logged in for the reward and then was like, oh yeah, I actually love this game. Maybe the new system will work out, but ...

Festival of the Four Winds is my favorite festival, but I haven't been able to do it this year until today! It was super fun and Cobalt (the collectible exotic sword, which I'd never unlocked before!) dropped on my first run through the Boss Blitz :D
