James Potter always knew he wanted to build a family, he just hadn’t found the right person to build it with - yet. Freezing his sperm at Gringotts Sperm Bank was a no-brainer really. He’d have children when he found the right person, and now he had an insurance policy. Then Lily Evans walked into his place of work with her son - the spitting image of him.

“Please don’t see this as me being too forward but if we don’t uh - hang out - in my bedroom, you will be witness to a gross display of some sort of sex act when Remus and Sirius get home.” 

Lily looks over at James, an amused glint in her green eyes. “The place looks different with no one here.”

James hums, remembering how small the space had been when they threw their party just weeks ago. 

“I must admit-“James starts, guiding them towards his bedroom, “I don’t remember our entire conversation that night…”

I'm re reading 'We'll be a fine line' (thank you @annabtg for the praise and prompt to see if I can stir up something to finally complete it haha) and I feel like this part sums up my version of James perfectly:

His pillow smells of roses. The kind he finds in his mum's garden in the spring. It’s a nostalgic smell, one that makes him sigh lightly.  But then the pillow moves and he realises it's not a pillow but a person. And it's not just a person but it's Lily Evans - and holy mother of god - he slept with Lily Evans last night. As in - he had sex with her - the two of them…together.  He blinks open his dry eyes and finds Lily sprawled out on top of his duvet. One leg under the covers, the other kicked out. She’s wearing one of his old t-shirts - a plain grey - yet she makes it look almost ethereal. Her red hair curls around in ringlets near his head, the stark colour a shock in the morning light. She’s still asleep, her breathing steady and her eyelids fluttering from her dreams. He can’t quite believe it. She’s in his bed, half naked and it's Lily Evans.  Fuck.  What does this mean?  She’s definitely going to freak out.

Was just looking through my archive and can't believe this was two years ago! It's so close to 500 kudos (which is insane!) and is one of my favourite fic's I've written 🥰

Chapter 12: Epilogue

I can't believe it's over! thank you so much for all the love & comments on this fic, this has really been a joy to write. Writing a multi-chapter muggle AU has really helped my writing! I am currently in the process of writing a new second chances AU so look out for that soon! <3

The post-concert giddiness doesn’t last long. Before they know it, they’re all being shuffled into a large dark room, Marlene huffing and Dorcas’ phone glued to her ear.

“What’s up?”

Lily can tell the news isn’t great. Marlene - her friend of many years, has her determined face on, her eyes narrowed, her lips pursed.

“Management called - they’re threatening Dorcas’ job-” James instantly steps forward, voice raised -” BUT’” Marlene gives him an evil stare, “But she’s fine. We haven’t done anything wrong. The email we ‘sent’ confirming the setlist didn’t get to them in time for them to approve and they know what you boys are like, so I was able to spin this in a way they get them more money.”

“More money?” Lily asks, her back pressed against James' chest, his arms around her waist.
