I wanna share with you a story. My Nightwish story. Back in 2005 I was a music faculty student. I believed that I already know "music" but one day "Angels fall first" opened the whole new world for me. It was the beginning of Symphonic, Power and Gothic Metal addiction. You all know how is goes... In March 2016 I finally saw Nightwish live in San Antonio, Texas. I was pregnant - just couple of weeks - and these hormones probably hit me very hard as I was astonishingly crying most of the concert's time. Live Nightwish were even more amazing than on records. By the way I thought that I will never accept any singer after Tarja but... Floor was phenomenal! I reckon next days my mind was running - for decade I stopped even trying to perform my own music. Hard truth - Nightwish concert made me to face this pain of loosing hopes. And on the other hand I was so afraid that becoming a mother will bury any remained dribs and drabs of my songwriting and singing skills. Now in 2019 my adorable daughter is 2 and a half (almost like Floor's - which is somewhat ironic). I finally fit back into the T-shirt I bought at the first concert! Last year I saw Nightwish live again in Madrid, had a fantastic time. And there was no sorrow aftertaste. Because I came back to myself. This April I released the first song of my own. You can check it out if you wish: Apolinara - Slowly or FB / Instagram page @apolinaraofficial It is far from perfect but I'm constantly working on improvement and already have a next song in my mind... Becoming a parent made me stronger and more responsible - if one day my little one will ask what I have done in this life I wish I can show her my music legacy, no just excuses. Being a Nightwish fan makes me dive into my soul and dig deeper into my music horizons. And this is not my story but only the beginning of it! !!! Polina Lymar (singer/songwriter): “In our modern world globalization removes borders. It affects music industry by giving the biggest exposure than humanity ever imagined before. All the greatest artists (from the past and the present) are just one click away. For musician it makes very difficult to narrow down the influences. At the same time every artist doesn’t like to be compared, we want to stand out…
From the early childhood I studied piano so it is only natural to get inspired with classical music - Bach, Mozart, Beethoven. At the same time my music tastes were shaped by my dad’s choices – The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple.
Years after I was deeply moved with gothic and symphonic metal bands. It started with bands like Therion and Lacrimosa. I was into gothic scene for a while. At the same time I was fascinated with Muse. Evanescence was on my playlist from the beginning. Amy Lee is a role model of female band leader! But the biggest music eye-opening moment I experienced with symphonic power metal band Nightwish. They put me into symphonic metal, the perfect genre that combines complex orchestrations and heavy metal riffs and drops. It speaks to my soul.
My personal Top-5 bands? I’ll go with Nightwish, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Lacrimosa and Muse. I’m very lucky to hear them all live. It’s very important and emotional experience!”
