... and i just realized this is basically what happened to hordak and entrapta, right? like they did the whole "bringing your lover back" trope way better than c//a did lmaooo
obviously it wouldn't solve all the issues with c//a, but i think it would've been interesting if chipped catra managed to fight off horde prime and refuse to hurt adora. like she would still battle for control, but it would show some growth, y'know? that catra doesn't want to hurt adora or anyone else ever again?
admittedly, i thought of this with possessed hunter (toh) in mind, but it would add more conflict, and actual character development.
certainly would've been better than being forced to watch adora being tortured and guilt-tripped, not to mention being called an idiot. 🙄

i'm convinced that spop and its stans actually hate adora considering how much they insult her and how they accuse her of being abusive

Why do c//a shippers say that Catra openned the portal because she wanted to be with Adora again?
Did they forget Catra had no idea that opening the portal would have created a different reality? No body knew that was going to happen, not even Entrapta who built the portal and told Catra it couldn't be openned because it was dangerous. But Catra still did it because the portal would have either brought Horde Prime to Etheria and the Horde would have won the war or it would have destroyed everything. Catra was okay with both options as long as she won and not Adora. In fact, when the portal started to destroy the world, Catra tried to kill herself and Adora with it.
Oh yeah, it's so romantic how initially Catra wanted Adora to suffer, but then she got a different option that she didn't know about and decided to gaslight Adora instead! 😻

interesting how both the main villain of the show and the protagonist's love interest has said the same creepy thing about the protagonist, and only one of these instances is heavily romanticized.

“Did she already understand, but have a moment of shock and jealousy that Scorpia instantly got it while it took Adora a couple seasons to get why Catra was hurt when she left?”
why are c//a stans so hellbent on making it seem like adora is either dense or insensitive? of course adora knew why catra was hurt that she left the horde. she had to apologize multiple times even though it wasn't her fault.
what makes no sense is why catra didn't leave the horde as well, especially after shadow weaver left the horde. there was nothing holding catra back. she sure as hell wasn't afraid of hordak. even if she didn't want to join the rebellion, she could have just.. gone somewhere else. no one was forcing her to continue committing war crimes.
either way, even if adora didn't understand why catra felt hurt, that's not an excuse for all the shit that catra did. but when it comes to the spop fandom, every single thing boils down to how it affects catra and how her actions could be justified.
Do not harass the OP of the post linked.
Wow, people really come up with absurd interpretations to make Adora look stupid. I mean, hell, Adora wanted Catra to come with her because she knew the Horde was awful to her. IN SEASON 1, both in Sword - Part 2 and Promise.
Yeah, for instance Huntara went to the Crimson Waste after leaving the Horde, she didn't go to Bright Moon. Catra could've done the same thing - they even hinted at it through Scorpia. But I guess Catra just wanted to make Adora suffer, honestly.

one complaint i see a lot about spop is how the horde manages to be more interesting character-wise than the rebellion. and i think i can agree.
while all the characters are, well, stereotypes, most of the ones in the horde still have some depth to them. entrapta might be loud and excited about robots, but she's actually very affected when facing the fact she was abandoned (and later betrayed by catra). a little detail i like about entrapta is that she hides her face behind her mask whenever she's vulnerable.
scorpia also has her moment to shine in s4, and hordak is quite an interesting character too (sadly, he didn't get very fleshed out). and of course, there's catra and shadow weaver, whose backgrounds and motivations you can't help but wonder what they truly are. even if, in the end, they were both done dirty by the plot. sadly, i can't say the same for the horde trio, but even they got some moments of reflection in s4.
as for the rebellion... i think glimmer is probably the most fleshed out princess. i'm not sure if i should count adora, bc even if she has her backstory, adora's arc of finding herself and where she came from was completely dropped. her trauma also didn't get as much focus nor respect as catra's did. other than that, bow barely has an arc or a background (we know about his dads but nothing about his siblings - we don't even see them). all the other princesses are just... there. frosta could've been an interesting character, but they drastically changed her personality in s2, and her losing her parents is not at all touched, not even when glimmer loses angella.
on one hand, i can't rlly blame ppl for liking the horde characters more. and i think that sympathizing with the villains isn't a bad thing, it can help us understand that not everything is black and white. the problem is that the rebellion simply doesn't have depth, imo only glimmer does, and she gets a lot of hate for it. but the princesses overall are boring and annoying, they don't have very unique personalities.
spop as whole is superficial, but the horde characters end up being more interesting. and not only that, but the show doesn't rlly treat the war srsly, so it's "easy" to like said characters.

Catra's heart didn't rip in half in that scene. She almost killed Adora in the fake reality, and after being corrupted by the portal, Catra physically abused her and blamed Adora for the world ending.
The only thing that got broken is Catra's jaw when Adora had enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while initially Catra looked afraid in the scene above, like she realized she crossed the line, the next frame shows that she didn't learn anything.

That expression tells "You haven't seen the last of me" . And what she did in the next season confirms it.

glimmer: literally crying and begging horde prime not to hurt adora
horde prime: ...
catra: seems mildly irritated, if anything, at the mention of she-ra
horde prime: ah yes. the epitome of true love.

correct me if i'm wrong, but the only instance where a character actually detailed catra's misdeeds in s5, beyond the vague "she did bad things and hurt ppl", was through entrapta and. it was merely played for laughs.
on that topic, it was quite disrespectful to entrapta, actually. she nearly died in beast island and was very affected and hurt, but in s5 she's like "lol! whatever i don't care! i forgive you! :D"

glimmer and catra looked like they would have an uneasy truce, from what i remember from the s4 finale.
but then s5 came and catra did not even care about glimmer. nor adora, nor anyone else. you'd think that the two would team up to protect etheria. and even though glimmer and catra briefly bonded over adora (which was still cheap and didn't even mention other things like angella or glimmer also being manipulated by shadow weaver), catra did not try to protect adora. she told horde prime where adora was despite glimmer begging her not to do that.
like, how am i going to buy into catra's redemption if you pull this shit? especially considering catra doesn't change AT ALL after her one big act?

i rlly hate that s5 reinforces the belief that catra cares about adora, but hates she-ra.
it just contradicts madame razz's words, "she-ra is not the sword, she-ra is [adora]!". especially considering that adora becomes her own she-ra without needing the sword.
and then the show acts like catra is the only one who actually truly cares about adora, shitting on glimmer and bow and everyone else, and making them look like they only care about she-ra. might be extreme of me to say, but you might as well think that glimmer, bow and co are as bad as shadow weaver. ONLY catra loves adora as who she truly is.
i'm almost sure nate probably insists on this outside of the show.
