Hawks never had anything that was his. He had to give everything up to become the hero the Commission wanted him to be, and he was okay with that. At least, that’s what he always told himself. He felt guilty though, and selfish. Because he never truly gave up on everything. There was one thing he didn’t want to have taken away from him: his soulmate.

Dabi had left his old life behind. The person he used to be was dead, and he had been the one to kill him, without any remorse. When episode one of SPN aired and Dean instantly vibed as this smirking, over-confident frat boy who was too aware of how cute he was and hyper-macho badass, I took one look at him and thought: oh boy there are some layers in you. 

Then he did the “hey no chick flick moments” thing, all covered in mud.

Dean has always been “performing Dean” from the pilot, he’s always had a hyper-masculine posturing butch facade, and then we see all the pain and softness and sweetness and adorable geekiness and range of skill underneath.
