but the differences aren't what white canadians make them out to be

ask a white canadian what the difference and they'll tell you canada is more 'polite', that we have a better human rights record

you really want to know the differences? here are the ones i can think of:

we've never elected a person of colour as leader of the country (fuck obama but cmon guys, jagmeet singh is right fucking there)

we maintain a better reputation, despite doing essentially everything that the usa is criticized for

meanwhile, our record of genocide and slavery is parallel to theirs

indigenous communities still don't have access to safe drinking water

black and brown people are still disproportionately incarcerated and forced to work for cents per hour (legalized slavery)

a man who did blackface and brownface at least three times has led this country for two terms

the liberal party's federal government continues to sell arms to places like saudi arabia, weapons which are then used to kill brown people overseas

justin trudeau is very fond of drone strikes (in asian and middle eastern countries, because if he did that to white countries it would be recognized internationally that he is committing war crimes)

our healthcare system still doesn't include dentalcare, pharmacare, or opticalcare

I could go on, but hopefully you're getting the point. in case you aren't, this is the point

white canadians can take their superiority complex and shove it. we are not better than the states. you are not free from privilege just because there is a border between canada and the states.

not to push my agenda but honestly the only correct choice for chief cultivator IS jiang cheng. lan zhan does not give a fuck about cultivation society at large, as we all see in uhh the entire post-resurrection arc, not to mention the lans have always been kind of insular anyway. nie huaisang does not want the job, he doesnt want to be overly involved in politics or steering society, as he also openly states, and the mix of people who dont know the hand he played in setting up meng yaos downfall and the people who know but dont trust him wouldnt help. but you know who HAS been a steadfast, proven leader who works well within the traditions and values of cultivator society? jiang cheng. he was involved enough in the meng yao stuff that he has direct authority on the subject, and everyone saw how he dealt with the testimonies of sisi and bicao, and like even people who don’t like him have to admit he’s done an incredible job taking over and rebuilding his sect as a teen, and he’s earnt everyone’s respect off the back of his own work and it shows u know. chief cultivator jiang cheng REAL.

BeeTober 2020 Day 25

Burn - Ghost

It seems like Beetober is a perfect time to write about all the rare pairs I didn’t even consider before but I do have to admit that Zhancheng might be kind of growing on me.

When Jiang Cheng wakes up in the middle of the night, he simply takes a moment to stare at Lan Wangji, before he sits up in bed.

The cold night air hits him, causes him to shiver, but Jiang Cheng doesn’t pull the blanket around his shoulders.

It would wake Lan Wangji, and he would hate to do that.

Jiang Cheng should be sticky and sweaty after what they did that evening, but Lan Wangji took great care to clean him up afterwards and so Jiang Cheng can’t even pretend that it’s the uncomfortable feeling of dry come that woke him.

He only has his own thoughts and worry to blame for being awake at this ungodly hour.

Jiang Cheng isn’t entirely sure how he ended up here, with Lan Wangji in his bed, but it’s been going on for long enough that he mostly stopped questioning it.

It certainly was a hate thing—and mutual at that—at first, but it’s been going on for so long now, that Jiang Cheng’s stupid heart got attached. It’s probably the biggest mistake Jiang Cheng has ever made—and with his track record that’s surely saying something—because he knows what this is for Lan Wangji.

He came to Jiang Cheng full of grief, hurt and with a toddler perched on his hip—his toddler, Jiang Cheng recognized him—and then he simply didn’t leave him alone again.
