#catholics #Church #Ruins #438yearsold #ProhibitedArea #SEEPZ #Andheri #Mumbai #community Catholics from across the city gathered for the annual Mass at the 438-year-old dilapidated St John the Baptist church ruins which takes place once in a year. The church was taken over by SEEPZ years ago. Since then, access to it has been prohibited. Till 1973, Mass was celebrated annually but the practice was discontinued when the MIDC acquired the area around the church and declared it a security zone. Later in July 2004, the Catholic community raised the issue of access to the church with the government representatives. (at St. John Baptist Church, Seepz Mumbai)

Two sisters, one kidney exchange As younger sister search for a kidney donor for the past four months, an elder sister made a decision to fly back from UK to Mumbai in order to #donate one of her #kidney. While 65-year-old woman was suffering from kidney failure, her 71-year-old sister agreed to donate one of her kidney without giving a second thought. "My sister and I are most different human being. Even if are DNA are practically equal, our kidneys are perfect match, we both are very different human beings. She does not like to say one word and I like to talk all the time. According to me, one should do whatever can be possible for the siblings,” Gulcheher while expressing about the bond she shares with her younger sister. #OrganDonation #KidneyTransplant #SistersBonding #Mumbai (at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre)

#BBDchawl has been razing #effigies of #socialevils on #Holi for 35 years #holicelebration #AttackOnPolicemen #Raees #HolikaDahan According to the residents, the tradition of burning effigies related to social evils on the occasion of Holika Dahan in BDD Chawl has been around since the Great Bombay Textile Strike of 1982. “Since most of the residents of this slum used to be mill workers, the closure of the mills had left them in a very miserable situation. It was then that the mill workers took recourse to burning effigies to convey their helplessness to the society. That was the first time a socially relevant issue was chosen for the purpose. We have kept the tradition alive since and shall continue to do so,” said a resident.
