All Saints Street Extra Comics Translations 1-3

Apologies for the delay! We are finally publishing translations for the All Saints Street manhua.

We will be uploading them on this drive for now and later upload to mangadex. I will have to ask you to NOT SHARE this drive PUBLICALLY, feel free to share it privately.

Example of what to do: sending the drive link to friends on discord.

Example of what not to do: posting the drive link to twitter. We are going to start with some older extras that were never translated to get a good idea for a workflow and fix problems as they rise. After that we are going to prioritize translating chapters 486-500 (why? well, if you know you know) so we can also start working on simultaneous text translations for new chapter releases. What I mean by this is that as soon as a new chapter comes out, we can upload an english text translation alongside it, like the japanese translation team does now.

I am also hoping this will be a good accessibility feature. Likewise, I am releasing to the public the table I translated from the japanese group. It is a rough Work-In-Progress table, but for me it has been an invaluable whenever I have to look up a certain chapter. I even made a search engine to look up chapters by character appearance.

Meanwhile we will be going back and re-lettering chapters that have been translated by independent efforts and uploading them to Mangadex. We have obtained permission from both @saints-street-translated and @wan-sheng-jie for this! After that the translation will continue in two fronts: the comic translations from 501 onwards and releasing text translations for new comics.

Translating the whole manhua will be a looooong process. Right now, we have text translations for all extra comics, but the lettering has been going slow. That's why we are still open to more volunteers to join us for the role of cleaner/typesetter! You don't need qualifications or even software (we will get it for you cough), just time and a disposition to learn.

TL;DR

We will translate 486-500 ASAP.

We will release text translations for newer comics.

We will remake the translations for 405-485 to upload to MangaDex.

Wow how did these two get in here? Well....

So yeah, I own two pieces of WSJ history now. If nothing else that means that I can digitalize them. Which is exactly what I did!

I did my best to edit all the images from photos from the new phone I got (not for this specifically, I was getting tired of my old phone. I am clearly insane but not that much) so they resemble scans. I was not about to bend the booklets so I could scan them on a flatbed.

Official All Saints Street Nick/Lynn and Nini/Lily art from the FRZ fan page

I've mentioned the team battle events between the three sister webcomics under the FRZ umbrella, but there is also a Couples/Ship battle between all of them. And as you can guess, Nick/Lynn is the top WSJ ship and now a days gets second and or third place after more popular Fei Ren Zai ships.

This illustration comes from the 2019 contest where Nick/Lynn got 3rd place. Not an usual WSJ artist, so I am interested on who created this illustration. They might be an illustrator for FRZ or There are Beasts, so if you have any information, please send me a message!

These tiny illustrations were for the 2020 ship battle where Nick/Lynn got 4th place, Nini/Lily got 6th and surprisingly Ira/Wenwen got 9th!

So, you might notice I've posted these ones before, but that is because I got them from the twitter account with no context. This is the context: they are from the 2021 Ship battle where Nick/Lynn got 3rd and Nini/Lily got 4th.

Ok, so for 2022 or 2023 I can't find more ship battles. Guess they stopped hosting them. And as a bonus: Here are some Nick/Lynn and Nini/Lily illustrations for Christmas 2022. Again, would love to know who actually made this.

And as an extra extra bonus, and because we're on a NiLyn and NiLi kick: I found the highest resolution available for the Uniformed illustrations I was looking for. I would still kill for the physical postcards, but man am I glad I found them.

Happy Chinese New Year, Happy Year of the Dragon!

New Illustration to celebrate the start of this year's Spring Festival from the All Saints Street team! Also, some accompanying merch for the top favorite WSJ characters from the Team Battle is going to be released soon.

I feel awful that I completely spaced out and didn't post about the 2024 FRZ Team Battle sooner. Fortunately, you can still participate until February 22th! The bad news is that you need a wechat account... I know there is a way to get one if you have a weibo account, but I haven't tried. However, a more accessible path might be creating an Alipay account. I got one to buy access to the new comics and I believe every country should be able to make an account even without a phone number, unlike weibo. I will make a guide on how to make the Alipay account and buying access to the latest comics (hopefully soon).

Anyways. Once you have your WeChat/Alipay account just scan the QR code bellow to vote!

The names are in chinese, but you can also base it off the chapter they first appear in that is mentioned as well.

The (Un)Official Japanese Translation of All Saints Street Manhua

As you likely already know, All Saints Street has enjoyed success in Japan with the animation dub, launching merch and pop-up shops in the country. However, the manhua has yet to receive an official translation with no near plans for one. Today thanks to the effort of Japanese fans you can find the translation of over 300 strips and more. And the project has been officially endorsed by WSJ.

Here is the google site where the project is being hosted. They are hosting the translation in an excel spreadsheet and the website itself for easier viewing. Here is how the excel works:

I know this is not aimed at us English speakers, but even if you don't use if for the translations it's a great resource to find the chapters, with descriptions, links to weibo and bilibili, character appearances and even in what donghua episode they have been adapted. Thereare other bits of information and spreadsheets in the that definitely save me time when looking for content for achieving, so check out everything the website has!

I've already reached out to the Japanese Translation team to translate the chapters database into English, and I've gotten permission! I'll post it as soon as it is completed. And I've been talking to them about how they got official permission for the translation; asking if one of the stipulations for their project was not to rehost the comic. If it wasn't then I might reach out to Lingzi/FRZ about our English translation. Either way I am not planning on hosting the translation this way, so don't worry. It would be like the previous translator team uploads. It would be nice to get permission, but honestly if I also hosted a spreadsheet translation no one would read it (I wouldn't either). Speaking of said translation, we are still looking for volunteers for typesetting/clean up and working on the wiki/archiving information. Join our discord if you are interested.

Hello! Now to really get started on translating the webcomic I decided to open a discord server to manage the project + get started on other things such as archiving and maybe making a new wiki? Forewarning: this server is meant for these projects, and it's not meant to be a 'fandom' server. I won't discourage people to discuss the animation/manhua, the characters, their head canons and ships, but I don't want it to be just that. If you enter, please try to contribute to a project or even suggest your own! We are looking for: Translators (Chinese-English, but also Japanese-English!), Typesetters/Cleaners, Wiki editors, and just any fan interested on participating.

i'd be interesting in translating for all saint's street. im a heritage speaker and have limited working proficiency but i've done translations of bits and pieces of random things occasionally. im also not caught up on all saints street besides the animation and am not sure how many hrs i can commit, as a full time student looking for work. would be happy to help though if you are still looking for others

I don't have any knowledge of Chinese but I'm interested in helping to translate the rest of the all saints street manhua, I'm experienced with image editing software so if at any point you'd like to recruit another typesetter I am willing to work for free in order to help spread and preserve all saints street! 🫡 If you ever made a post about it or set up a discord server I would definitely sign up!

Hello anon. Thank you for the interest! I will definitely keep it in mind as I was planning on winging the typesetting on my own with my minimum knowledge of Clip Paint Studio OTL.

Also, a good reminder that I am still looking for Chinese Translators! The last thing I want is to ask people for their free labour for this, so if you are interested contact me (diableblanc on discord @leu_garou on twitter) and we can discuss rates. Another project where help would really be appreciated is creating a new wiki for All Saints Street. No offence to the people that worked on the fandom wiki, but my biggest gripes with it is the lack of sourcing. I was taking them for their word on the whole adult demons being 80 for the longest time (mostly cus I saw a weibo/bilibili comments also alluding to it) until I finally found the untranslated comic that has this info.

I am considering requesting a wiki on Miraheze, but I would like to have some articles ready before doing so. If more people show interest, then I can make a discord to organize it!

I also went through the trouble to collect the previous web character bios, both the originals from weibo and the translated ones by ASSlators. Mostly to avoid having to look them up every time I want to check something.

Aside from Axel I haven't noticed significant changes for characters with a web version. If you do, do not hesitate to contact me!

Yet more merch

Love being an adult and waste my disposable income! I was mostly interested on getting the new volumes, so to not just get one thing I got random stuff. Kinda mad because after it arrived a new set of merch based on this print was announced and I would have totally bought the polaroids. I need more Ake merch. That's actually why I chose the punk band fake CD.

And the box in the back contained the following. I personally don't think it was worth it for the price, but at least I have a box to store all my All Saints Street merch in.

That glittery thing is this acrylic stand. I don't understand why it should have the glitter... Can you tell this is my first-time collecting merch?

I love the Lynn plushy and because he can stand, he is on my desk as moral support. I am disappointed that small the mop and spatula were just for show! Maybe I'll make them for him.

do the different horns for demons have different meanings?

So far, we only know that black horns and tail indicate nobility as stated for Will and later an older demon, but the shapes and other colors don't seem to be important outside of being hereditary traits.

Nick points out that the horns and tails are black, but later the older demon that is also stated to be from a noble family has a red tail... I would chalk it up as a goof tho. Neil's teacher maybe also has black horns but a red tail, but this is never pointed out so it's unlikely he is a noble.

Aside from that, demon horns are varied and are mostly a visual for family resemblance (like how Nick and Nina have the same horns as James), but there are also some demons that have similar horns to Neil (short and darkish beige) while being unrelated.

Lingzi's All Saint Street 1031 Extra Art and Doodles 1/?

Long time coming master post that I've been neglecting until being reminded of Lingzi's twitter account by their latest artwork. Right when I'm out on a work trip! Since Lingizi's twitter posts seem to be safe for now (already have the images downloaded either way) I'm going to start by posting older art people might have not seen! Thanks to @/dulcinart on instagram for pointing me to how to find this older work and specially thanks to weibo user @/一般路过棉花侠 who as one of the early backers for the manhua's first release got the bonus of a manuscript booklet and then posted the artwork in it!

As stated before, these sketches are from a manuscript booklet given alongside the first volume for the backers. Not sure if this means this are character concept art or just doodles. As you can see some of them look very different from what the characters normally look.

Speaking of the crowdfunding we also got this wallpaper from it:

Unfortunately for the next ones I have no context because they are repost posted in June 2017. This includes the first image of Nick and Neil I posted first. For that one I was sure I knew where it came from but can't find the context anymore. Unfortunately, Lingiz weibo is set up so you can't see anything older than 6 months so a lot of art might be lost!

These two illustrations were made to celebrate Fei Ren Zai/Inhuman's second anniversary and then the animated adaptation. Looking good Nick!

@asubakaa tbf the blame falls entirely on the Japanese localization team for this one. Neil is described as 16 years old in the Japanese website as well. (Google TL on the right).

Because in anime all main characters must be teenagers, I guess? Despite how Neil works and pays rent in a foreign country, there is nowhere in the world where you can do all that while under 18...

Not to mention that Lily is explicitly still a college student. 大学 is University, so they didn't even account for that lol.

This is the main reason I definitely also want to catalogue all the localization differences, especially if the Crunchyroll/JPN version is going to be the most available worldwide. This is like playing broken telephone.

Also, for future reference we have no idea what Neil's age is in the manghua or the donghua. It is not ever stated in the source or extra material in Chinese. The best guess is that in the manhua Neil is over 80+ years old because that is the age of majority for demons to drink alcohol and he can drink alcohol (he just doesn't like it).

First of all, I don't understand why the international version changed his name to Ivan. Well, that is a lie. I do know a reason. In Chinese and Japanese both names sound the same, thus, are spelled the same. But that is straight up ignoring that the author gave us the latinized spelling of his name since his first appearance as Evan; and that it continues to be used for all of his merch material. So, did no one bother to check? I swear if I see fans call him Iwan unironically I'll lose it.

This also happened to Luis: his name is now spelled Lewis for the international version of the donghua. It bothers me less so as both Lewis and Luis have the same pronunciation in English, unlike Evan/Ivan; tho I definitely lean more towards Luis (¡carajo!).

Edit: since we are on the topic of character names. The newest volume bios confirm Crystal brother's name is Frost. I'm guessing he is named after the poet Robert Frost, as he writes poetry in a comic too.
