So something I came up with is.

One late night, Ridley and her sister, let's call her Cass, were walking through the woods trying to find somewhere to camp for the night. Ridley went to sleep before her sister. Her sister heard some noises and went to go check it out, only to find a kid crying in the middle of the forest. She went up to her and tried to grab her shoulder, but the next thing she knew, she was hanging by her neck from a rope. She was kicking her feet, trying to get free, but she couldn't.

The next morning, Ridley woke up and tried to find her sister. They started to walk into the forest, only to see a little girl laughing in front of her hanging sister. The kid cut the rope for Ridley to catch her, just for her to hold her dead sister in her hands. The little girl wasn't real. It was all in her mind. She never had a sister, nor did she know the kid.
