Prologue: That was late summer of October 2025 when the sun was scorching, I could almost feel my skin being grilled. People in the park were searching for spots that could protect them from the heat wave; their pets and stray animals were panting, street vendors were fanning themselves to reduce the heat, and I was there under the big canopy cover of a tree. They said that it was already there before the colonizers arrived in the country, the tree was a witness of historical events. The townsfolk also said that it was a gift from an ancient deity of life, that's what they believe. Maybe because it is still standing for many years, longer than the moments we've spent.
It was also under that tree and time when I first saw you. You were wearing a white polo shirt inserted in a black trouser and red stiletto heels. Just by the looks of you, I can already tell that you came from a well-off family. I was mesmerized by your presence to the point that I almost didn't notice that you grabbed a pocket of cigarettes and a vintage-looking lighter from your bag. It would be a lie to deny that I didn't find you attractive when you put the cigarette between your lips and lighted it, and it would also be a lie to deny that I didn't hate people who smoke, nevertheless, you were an exemption. I can't even remember us, as strangers have come this far. I didn't even remember what was our first conversation, or who spoke the word 'hi' first, or how a woman like you did love a man like me.
We've come this far and I know that I'm going to miss you; your fair skin has now turned yellow, your dark brown eyes are closed now, and your warm body that I always longed for is now cold; I wonder how would you warm me with this cold body of yours. No matter how hard I tried to scream the name of the ancient deity that they said, she didn't show up. Perhaps your mother was right, no matter how hard humans tried to call the names of different deities and ask them to grant you prayers they won't show up and answer for they prefer not to interfere with earthly experiences and find joy in the sufferings of their creatures.
Oh, my love, I finally realized now the quote that you wrote in your last book, "Life is truly cruel when it takes something that you didn't want to give."

The Prodigy Kid
Play that instrument until you master that skill. Play that instrument until your fingers bleed. Play it until your delusions become your reality. Feed them the pleasure until they get fed up. Never stop playing, not until your bones swing on the string. Do not stop until the strings snap from your world. Be the prodigy they created. Be the genius they all prayed. Be the perfect child they wanted. Kill every ounce of pity you have for yourself. Put them to sleep with your talent, even if you have to be sleepless.

It's difficult to be an ambitious person with a disability of not knowing how to start things. Being curious about almost everything is a curse, you don't know where to start or what you should learn first, a disease you would think of first as a gift from the gods.
