sometimes, shallow restless sadness feels so nice because i remember how gut wrenching true emptiness felt like. i am confused though; because then there was hopelessness. i knew how i felt about life and myself and people. now i have hope. i don’t know how i feel about much of anything. somehow, hope currently feels more directionless than depression. more lonely. i wonder why.

I get why for most people sunrise symbolizes hope and potential and new beginnings and sunset symbolizes wistfulness and loss and the impermanence of all things but like. I associate sunrise with having to go to school/work and all the horrors therein, and sunset with rest and contemplation and the closest thing to freedom I'll likely ever get, as well as the fact that the stars will soon come out.

Also I live in a region where the sun almost always appears pale, washed-out and weak at sunrise but the sunsets on a clear night are richly coloured, vibrant and seem to reach across the whole sky. The coldest part of the day/night, when going outside is inhumane torture and you can feel your dental fillings contract, is often near sunrise here, while sunset in winter (and god doesn't it feel like winter lasts until June) is not long after the warmest part of the afternoon.
