It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆) I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. It’s official! I’m a #Bibliophile! I set myself my first ever reading challenge in 2022. I decided to set it at 13 books, (because @taylorswift IYKYK). I read 11 in 2021 & never thought I would get past that… One of my greatest achievements of 2022 was SMASHING my goal of 13 & finishing an unimaginable 51 books! I READ FIFTY ONE BOOKS!!! As a book lover who’s first dream job growing up was to be a Librarian Assistant (cos I could doge the paperwork & read more books than the Librarian) I’m super proud of this accomplishment! I’ve always believed that reading builds our world, our vocabulary, opens our hearts & minds & expands our knowledge. I managed the 51 via REAL books, audiobooks & the kindle/iBooks apps. During the day, I love a real book. At night I switch my phone to night mode & on the run, the freedom to take my books with me everywhere I go via my phone (& take as many of them as I can download at any given time) has been a game changer. This year I also discovered audiobooks (I never thought I’d be into them, but there are some INCREDIBLE narrators out there, biographies are often read by the author & Kindle & Audible apps are linked so you can literally be reading on the kindle app with your eyes & then open audible & listen from where you left off via Bluetooth in the car, or while you’re doing housework etc) & having a solid 45 minute drive to work that’s an extra 1.5hrs of reading I can do each day… I’ve read a whole range of books, but it’s safe to say my fave genre is Fantasy Romance (aka Faerie Smut 🧚🏼‍♀️😉) followed closely by self development. Fave book of 2022: A War Of Two Queens by Jennifer L Armentrout Fave Human Experience book: Where The a Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens Fave Biography: Inside Out by Demi Moore Fave Self Development Book Finished: The Path Made Clear by Oprah Winfrey (I reread this so many times). #MerrySwiftmas!!! I literally got THE BEST Secret Santa gift EVER… I LOVE my work team so much…especially YOU Santa! (Oh the giggles we’ve had on some crazy shifts!) Yes, your eyes are correct folks, that’s a sparkly @taylorswift insulated cup with ALLLL the Taylors on it! AND it has Red Frogs inside for RED FROG FRIDAYS! (A little tradition I picked up when I worked with my beautiful theatre team at WCH & we always NEEDED red frogs to get through Fridays). It was such an awesome little pick-me-up on a hectic shift, that I have taken it with me to my beautiful team I work with now & everyone knows if I’m there on Friday, it’s always a frog Friday. I adore the amazing team of EN’s, RN’s, AIN’s, Allied Health, GP’s, Kitchen Staff, Cleaners, Reception & office staff that I work with so much! They all work so hard to keep our little hospital thriving, they’ve all been so patient with me learning the ropes as Team Leader & my transition from Metro to Country Health. The level of patient care is of the highest standard & I am so proud to be a tiny part of such an amazing team….they definitely deserve way more than Red Frogs on a Friday! Merry Christmas to all my beautiful current & previous work colleagues! I hope you all get to spend some time with your loved ones over this festive season, even as we spend time making sure the people who HAVE TO spend time with us for reasons they would rather not choose, have a beautiful festive season too. Beach curls, tan lines, bumps & rolls, bikini & wetsuit… My beach was beautiful today… My curls love the salty water…I am super glad I went back to the caramel balayage (it’s actually the exact same colour as Paige’s hair & we didn’t even know!) I went to take my wetsuit off & realised I don’t actually look as big as I have been feeling lately & wanted to remind myself…body dysmorphia is frustrating…you see yourself as a completely different shape etc to what others see & what you truly are…that is a size 6 wetsuit…it’s too big…but my mind tells me I’m round, wobbly & gross (because those things have previously been found ‘disgusting’ by someone)…but you know what? This body has done a lot…it’s safely carried 3 babies into this world, it’s been able to keep those babies safe as they have grown into teenagers & have had physical threats present themselves…this body intervened when a >6ft person had one of my kids up against a wall by their throat & couldn’t breath…this body goes to work & cares for other bodies…it’s been on some mad roller coasters & rides, it can roller skate, swim, float, paddle, dance & get me places I need to go…it houses my heart, my mind & my soul…it choose to keep me alive with each breath I take without even realising…& while my eyes & my brain get confused most of the time…it’s not the worst body…sure, it’s got it’s problems…who hasn’t?! Comparison truly is the thief of joy & I’m exhausted with being compare to the tall, skinny leggy blondes who can reach whatever they want to put their hands on without needing to stand on a stool…I’m never going to be that girl. I think I’m done with allowing others make me feel bad or uncomfortable with it…because it’s my body & not theirs. And it’s done some really amazing things.
