an old notebook
maybe i’ll lose it and pick it up again. it smells like books and tea and fresh cut grass. it’s old but it’s unmistakably mine. it’s yellowing. it’s filled with ballpoint pen.

-and for lists.
-both of which could count as poetry.
-this is also for poetry.
-long and short and metered and rhymed and free.
-and even if i lose the notebook for a while, it’ll stay here
-yellowed with age already and still holding on just fine
-in the ivy and the sunlight
