happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who ARE like the stereotypes
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who are nowhere near the stereotypes
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who are self diagnosed
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who are professionally diagnosed
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who were told they "dont look autistic"
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who were bullied for being obviously autistic
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who cant mask
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who have been masking for so long that people would never expect you to be autistic
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who struggle really badly each and every day
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who have learned how to work with their autism and struggle a lot less
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who grew up not knowing what was "wrong" with them
happy autism acceptance month to the autistics who knew they were autistic from a young age and faced hardship because of that
happy autism acceptance month to autistic people.

if you have adhd, you might be surrounded by or crave unhealthy/toxic relationships even though you know they're bad for you.
you get dopamine hits from the instability and the conflict and not being able to predict what will happen next so you sort of become addicted to it and want them to stay even though you know they're bad for you.
this doesn't make you a bad person, but you're going to have to learn how to set boundaries and find healthier sources of dopamine for you're own well being

Some of my favorite, (mostly) quiet fidget toys:
Sometimes you can’t afford to have a fidget that clicks or makes noise and I find that these fidgets are (mostly) quiet, just as stimulating, and pretty subtle, so I thought I’d share some of my faves :)
I’ll add to it as I discover more, but please feel free to add your faves too!

when talking about disability activism, it’s important we acknowledge a broad range of voices, and that we go out of our way to listen to those who aren’t always listened to
disabled queer people
disabled people of colour
people with more than one disability
disabled people in a religious minority
disabled people who will never live up to productivity levels demanded by capitalism
basically any disabled person who has more than one dimension of oppression NEEDS to be placed at the centre of our activism. because they matter too. and what has always made disability activism great is our intersectionality.

ew the last one dude same.
Some things neurotypical people do that almost always confuse or upset me
Sarcastically say thank you for something I haven’t done, I think to make me feel bad for not doing it even though they never told me it needed doing
“Oh look it says gullible on the ceiling”
Not believing I understand them until I make eye contact, I’m usually pretty good at making just enough eye contact that people feel like I’m listening, but direct prolonged eye contact is uncomfortable.
Weird passive aggressive code instead of asking for things, very lucky my parents are ask culture and just tell me things.
Sarcastic jokes. The more genuine they’re played the less likely I am to get the joke.
Mumbling with their back to me and then getting annoyed that they have to repeat themself
Refusing to turn on subtitles for me and their only excuse is “I don’t need them” fuck that I do actually need them it’s why I asked.
“Is that an accommodation?” Meaning “I’m only gonna do that if I have to” why can’t you just do it to be polite it takes 3 seconds of your time to fix the thing that’s upsetting. Usually me asking if I can step outside because im on the verge of a panic attack.
“I need you to try harder, getting distracted isn’t what you should be doing right now”
Feel free to add to this.
