See the problem is, there isn't any genre or story type that can have as many dramatic twists per second as high-school romance anime.
No Marvel third-act battle can match the stakes of running into that girl in the hallway who you were trying to avoid.
Trunks defeating Frieza? Please. Try Kaguya missing the fireworks because she was too busy staring at Shirogane.
