Dean is repeatedly programmed and reprogrammed throughout the series. He is initially raised by his father to hunt and kill monsters, presumably from the age of four. He is also captured/imprisoned by various monsters in adulthood, and tortured/made to torture other prisoners. While he does die at the end of the series at the hands of monsters, the series is not centered around hunting being a bad thing, and this is portrayed as a hero's death that he is satisfied with. His canonical programming most easily falls under delta, zeta, and gamma programming, but watching the series through a programmed lense can allude to beta, theta, eta, and omega programming.

Taken in by the yakuza as a toddler where she was experimented on. Her blood and body matter was used to make a weapon. She stays with the yakuza for several years so they don't hurt anyone. She eventually attempts escape and is saved, and is safe and well taken care of. Her programming can most easily fall under gamma, delta, and iota.
