Please stop infantlizing autistic people

Stop being weirded out when we cuss. Stop being weirded out when we talk about nsfw topics. Stop being weirded out when we are semiverbal or nonverbal.

We can smoke too, we can drink, vape, and cuss and do anything normal people can do. We can have (concented) sexual relationships. We can kiss people. We can have kinks. We can like BDSM or have fetishes. We are not innocent little kids.

Just because we have a disability doesn't mean we aren't people.

Just because we sometimes need to live with someone else doesn't mean we aren't people.

Just because we don't pick up on social clues doesn't mean we aren't people.

STOP INFANTILIZING US. STOP CALLING US INNOCENT. STOP THINKING YOU NEED TO PROTECT US. WE ARE REGULAR PEOPLE TOO.

it just fucking occurred to me. bc i'm looking for a new job but i remembered most jobs don't let you wear earbuds/earplugs/shades/whatever without having an Officially Proven medical condition or something that explicitly says on paper that you need these. even if you can prove you're autistic/adhd and explain your sensory issues, you don't get a pass. but imagine how weird it would be if you had to go through all these hoops just to, say, wear glasses at work. imagine if they went "um. but do you really need those? i mean, you can still see without them right?" and you try to explain they make your vision better and they say "okay but you're not blind. you don't actually need them." and that was that. you'd just have to put up with blurred vision around 8 hours a day most days of the week. imagine this was a legal thing work places could do. because "glasses go against a professional image." this is what it's like.

Adelbert von Deyern - Atmosphere

Atmosphere, released in 1980, is the obscure German musician Adelbert von Deyen’s third album (he released 14 albums in total before passing away earlier this year).

It’s an intense journey through what back then was unknown and futuristic territory of (electronic) music, grabbing your attention with an aggressive sequenced bass line at the very start accompanied by classic rock drums.

The drums depart from our journey but 8 minutes in as a thick orchestra of synthesized strings takes tone. Suddenly we find ourselves in what is to become a 30 minute beautiful space opera with moments of Berlin school influences making cameos in shapes of sequenced melodies.
