Been wanting to watch this when I heard about it, but kind of forgot about it till now. If your into  historical epics done by a  director who does historical epics like no other, then this is for you. Ridley Scott expertly directs this film based on a book by Eric Jager which is based on a true story. Set in the 14th century, it's a story of a knight, who's wife is raped by his former friend. First off, the visuals and attention to detail are amazing as usual coming from Ridley Scott. Told through three chapters, each from the point of view of a different character with their own contradictory perspectives. Great performances all around by the actors involved especially by Matt Damon playing a kind of character he isn't usually known for. This film should not have bombed at the box office, but like most films released during Covid 19, it failed to find an audience. Ever since first watching the series back in 2001, I've wanted to read the book it was based on. I've since rewatched the series dozens of times over the years and every viewing I would get something new from it. A detail I wasn't aware of or the context of a scene or line that I've gained more knowledge of between viewings. The series is by far my favorite of all time and will continue to be. Zombicide: Prison Outbreak - First game of zombicide with the kids. Played the first tutorial mission: The Break In. Scenario was meant for six players but we played with three, still felt relatively balanced with the reduced player count. We managed to unlock the prison gate but then got mobbed by zombies that flooded out of it. Dune - Saw this a few days ago and loved every second of it. If there was one film/book that need a modern update, it would have been this. I've never read the books but have seen the previous adaptations. This particular iteration is everything I've wanted and more. Didn't see it on IMAX, but after viewing it, immediately thought that IMAX would have been the preferred format. It's been about a year since I perused the local Chapters bookstore. Stumbled upon these two books while there. As a Dredd fan I've wondered about the origins of Dredd's Justice Department and the Judges themselves. Turns out these books and the stories within are set during the time when the judges were created and started to supplant the police departments. Premise sounded fascinating. Just hope they are a good read... I think this is the first novel by Aaron Dembski-Bowden that I've read and i finished it surprisingly quickly. Very good read. Enjoyed ADB writing style and if this novel is any indication of his other works I look forward to reading alot more of them. The plight of the Celestial Lions is probably fairly well known amongst 40k fans and this novel covers their exploits on Armageddon. Time to teach the kids a new board game. This time Ticket to Ride by Days of Wonder. Collect and play train cards to claim railroad routes across a map. This is the original so it depicts the US and parts of Canada. They picked it up fairly easily but could work on their strategy a bit more. They kind of forgot about the destination tickets most of the game and found playing cards and claiming routes alot more fun.
