“You no longer want to be captain, what should we do? You mentioned Pearl helping you?”
“She understands this better than I do. I guess it has to do with her experience in the military? She reminds me of you, she’s really good at finding loopholes and making quick decisions, and she’s good with navigating.”
“Do you think she would make a good captain?”
“Yeah.” He said, “I’d follow her. So would Tyler, Damian, and Jaime. And Karlotta’s already followed her across the continent. She gets along with everyone. Her and Jay work well together, which is important.”
Chase nodded, “That is good. Do you think she would accept the position?”
Charles hummed, “I don’t know.”

Charles Enzo Blackson:
Charles has dark blue hair. He inherited his mother’s color and his father’s curls. He keeps it short so that it’s easy to manage, only ever letting it get to his chin before cutting it.
He also inherited his mother’s silver eyes. Like the rest of the shifters, if he allows his cat features to slip through in human form then his pupils will turn slitted.
Charles has bronze skin that he has taken great measures to ensure remains mostly unscarred, at least where others can see.
Charles has his lobes pierced with obsidian studs that were given to him by an old friend years ago. When in cat form his earrings can be found at the base of his ears.
Charles takes after his dad with his Endomorph body type. Living his whole life on the pirate ship has left him with strong arms and a strong back, and chasing after his cousins when on shore has helped his leg muscles keep up with his upper half (turning out a well rounded brick wall in some people's opinion).
Charles has a hypertrophic (raised) scar that wraps across the front of his stomach from his first death, He also has a hypertrophic scar on the bottom of his chin from splitting it open when he fell from the mast.
Character Descriptions
I’m probably never going to have full, detailed descriptions of my characters in the book itself, but I’m going to post them here 1) so they exist somewhere 2) if this book gets a fanbase they’ll be readily available for people to choose to follow or ignore 3) maybe this will help with my current writer’s block (ive hit Clavin again ugh…)
I’m going to be reblogging this so each character has their own section, that way it’ll be easier to navigate and people can choose who to look at without having to scroll forever or read spoilers they don’t want
*Spoilers below the cuts!!*
*Important spoilers are also labeled within the descriptions themselves

Karlotta Mari Seeker:
Karlotta has bright cherry red hair. She’s always kept it between chin and shoulder length. Most of the time it’s in a messy ponytail or half-up. While she was rogue she took to cutting it with whatever knife was in reach when it hit a length she could no longer ignore. Since joining the Blackson clan she’s started taking a pair of scissors to it, but it’s still choppy and uneven.
Her eyes are dark green. When she first comes into contact with a magic source (be it a person or a spell being used) her eyes will flash golden, accompanying the nudge she gets in the back of her head. This happens any time on of the pirates on the ship shifts, which can be a bit annoying at times.
Karlotta is cursed with her mother’s pale, freckle-covered skin. Her whole life she’s dealt with sunburns and it’s only gotten worse since she started living on a pirate ship. Aloe has become a constant in her life.
Karlotta has her lobes pierced three times each. She’d taken the hoops out when they went rogue and had to re-pierce them herself later on when she got ahold of simple rods to replace them with.
Her Ectomorph body type had always left her lean but going rogue has finally helped her build up what muscle she can manage. She light on her feet and has gained an impressive endurance since going rogue.
Karlotta’s hands are covered in pale little scars from working in her garden. She has hypertrophic (raised) on her leg from slipping on a branch and cutting herself as she fell to the ground. She has another hypertrophic scar on her right forearm from being cut with a knife while rogue.

Pearl “Siren” Alexis Dragonsire:
Pearl has platinum blonde hair. When she was in the Dragonsire Clan it came down to her mid back and was normally pulled into a neat and high ponytail. After going rogue she started wearing it in low ponytails and braids because the high ones cause her headaches. Since joining the Blackson clan her hair has gotten cut off during a duel with Jay, leaving it to curl at chin length.
Her left eye is a (bottle) green, while her right eye is (sky) blue. (Cause heterochromia is fascinating!) Her eyes are the opposite of her twin brothers, whose left is blue and right is green. When they were younger their mother liked to say that they traded a piece of themselves in the womb so they’d always be connected.
*Important Spoiler: When she allows her cat features to slip through in human form then her pupils go slitted.*
Pearl inherited her grandmothers olive complexion. She’s always had freckles, but during the war and now that she lives on a pirate ship they have darkened considerably.
Pearl has two cartilage piercings on each ear (all hoops), which her squad member hand pierced during the war on a dare. She got a third cartilage piercing halfway down her right ear (hoop) and her lobes pierced when she went rogue (studs). She’d had her squad’s emblem tattooed on her right shoulder blade, but it is barely recognizable due to the scars there
*Important Spoiler: When in cat form her earrings can be found along the outer edge of her ears. The cartilage piercings come down from the point, and the lobe piercings are found on the outer base of her ear. *
A combination of her Mesomorph body type (yes im this into these descriptions) and military then rogue lifestyle has left her muscular with a high endurance that she’s worked for and maintained most of her life. Going rogue had thinned her down from lack of food but now that they’re with the Blacksons she’s steadily building it back.
Pearl has many little scars scattered across her body from her childhood and training. But she has some larger, more noticeable scars: Her nose was broken during the war and healed back crooked. She has hypertrophic (raised) scars across her shoulder blades from being jumped by an attack dog, and atrophic (sunken) scars on her left forearm from shoving her arm into that same dog’s mouth.
*Important Spoiler: And her most prominent scar is the atrophic scar that runs from her hip up to her chin, which she got fighting the battle and that cost her her life. *

Incubus
The bartender was an Incubus with red skin and wings that managed not to knock things over as he mixed drinks, his tail whipping around behind him.
“What can I do for you?” The Incubus asked, “I can make a mean Sex on the Beach.”
“Is that ‘cause yer an Incubus?”
“No, it’s because it’s my husband’s favorite.”
“Fair ‘nough.”
Say hello to our first Incubus! Like the Banshee, I haven’t done much research on them. He was made mainly as a jab at a family member who was teasing me about being in my book, so I modeled the Incubus and his husband after my family member and his friend’s D&D characters and now get to tease them.

People have gathered to dance in a loose ring around the band that is playing. The tune is lively  and thrums through the ground, the crowd singing along to the words. Karlotta smiles, taking both his hands as she begins to sway.
“I can’t dance.”
“All you gotta do is shimmey around.”
“Uhhh.”
She doesn’t let him protest, swaying her hips and taking little half steps in a circle. He follows, and finds himself smiling as she begins to bounce. Every time he gets into the flow of things she adds another movement, until they’re doing the most exciting four-step dance Charles has ever done. Karlotta laughs when he spins her.

Someone was giggling above her. She kept still, forcing herself not to tense. There was another giggle and she felt small fingers curl around the chain of her necklace. There was a tug followed by hushed conversation. She cracked open an eye to see Kai and Noelani crouched above her. Noelani’s hand was wrapped around Karlotta’s old clan crest, the solid gold leaf looking even more extravagant in the little girl’s scarred hand.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
The girls shrieked, scrambling away. Noelani almost choking Karlotta when she took the necklace with her.
“It was shiny!”
Karlotta looked down at the crest, tilting it to let the gold glint in the lamp light. She tugged it over her head, holding it out to the girls.
“Here, for your treasure. Ain’t gettin’ much appreciation hidden ‘round my neck.”
She watched as the girls ran off to add the necklace to their horde, a weight lifting off her chest as her clan’s crest left her hands. It was the last physical thing that tied her to her past, and she’d just gave it away. It was nice.
“Thank you Miss Kar!”
