Awww...Reign...what could have been. I miss Pinoe in so many ways, it hurts!

I feel like they are really showing their age right now. Lu hasn't played particularly well this season- just looks a bit slow and sluggish. The whole backline seems out of sorts and off their marks a lot. Same for Jess. She has moments each game, but overall isn't as creative and zippy as before. The midfield is largely nonexistent, and the forwards can't find the goals. The team just seems generally older and slower than their competition each week, and that's sad. It's a long season, and the Olympics will bring some different energy to the league, but wow. What a fall from the top.

Their attack is just brutally slow. Mix that with a midfield that doesn’t exist and it’s a recipe for disaster. There is absolutely zero urgency until the last two or three minutes of every match. I hope they figure this out because I truly love almost every player on that team but it might be best to just write this specific year off for them.

You play every opponent in your group and your round of 16, quarter and semifinal opponents twice. The final is only played once. It’s different from any tournament ever and that’s why the people that love it love it as much as they do.

DA - I think starting in July and definitely by August Ali knew she and Ashlyn were having major problems, but I don’t think she realized that Ashlyn was serious about actually leaving. Ashlyn may have even communicated that to Ali, but they always seemed to work through issues. There was no reason for Ali to believe Ashlyn was serious about leaving. I fully believe she thought they would work through everything and I also get the feeling Ashlyn lied directly to her face while telling Sophia they were separated. The literal definition of a two timer.

HOWEVER, none of this excuses Ashlyn’s shit behavior throughout this process and I fully believe Ali when she says she was blindsided by the filing.

It’s just based on her own interviews since then, she’s indicated there were problems starting in July or August. IIRC, in her Self article and in a press conference after the final, Ali mentioned “the last 5 months,” which would bring everything back to July.

Well, guess what was in June? Cannes.

I actually think Ashlyn and Sophia started chatting in April at the Gotham vs Angel City home opener and Cannes was a carefully orchestrated plan to allow them to spend time together, but you didn’t hear it from me.

The next time the FBI needs anything they should call Swifties and woso fans.

Ash is trash for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest? Being a self involved narcissist while Ali was trying to finish out her f’ing career, and having a hissy fit that Ali couldn’t give her proper time and attention during a time period that is already fraught with emotion and sadness. Ash doubled down and LEFT her. All those distractions while she should have been able to be present and really finish out her playing career enjoying the accolades. Instead, she was having to cancel press conferences and explain to her daughter why her other mom moved out. It’s just such callous and cruel behavior- almost hard to imagine anyone behaving that abhorrently. Ash thought of no one besides herself. Any mature, rational, sane adult would have tabled the entire thing until the season was over and everyone had space to breathe and they could have sorted it out calmly. But she didn’t, so she deserves every single bit of this backlash- you reap what you sow!!

Ashlyn was playing a role of a separated and scorned wife around Sophia FOR MONTHS before she ended their marriage. Even if there was no physical cheating, this is the dictionary definition of ‘emotional cheating.’

Fair warning, I could be off base here:

I was not following the AH/AK/SB timeline super closely back in Sept, but something in Sophia’s article stood out to me. Also I’m glossing over the supposed cheating here, which I definitely think happened, but it’s not totally relevant to my point.

I seemingly remember Ali traveling to VA to visit friends and family sometime in mid Sept when she shared all of those beach photos.

At that same time, Ashlyn shared photos from what looked like an empty apartment for the first time. We now know she filed for divorce on Sept. 19th.

The People article released in mid Oct. (and Sophia’s new article) stated that Ashlyn and Sophia went on their 4.5hr non-friend group hang date “a few weeks ago,” meaning sometime in mid to late September.

My theory is that Ashlyn knowingly agreed to a date with Sophia while her wife was out of town and after said date, Sophia convinced her to completely leave Ali (and potentially change any timeline if Ali and Ashlyn had been floating the idea of divorce). If Ashlyn had already been planning this exit via Amazon lists (also a way to hide this planning from her wife, it would have been super easy for her to just up and leave without so much as a warning. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ali returned from VA to find her wife gone without any kind of discussion beforehand.

Then there’s obviously the whole divorce filing, which Ali and the rest of the WoSo community have already confirmed blindsided her.

I feel like this just gets messier and more horrible as each new detail is revealed/confirmed.

This just made my stomach hurt.

How, and I repeat, how, can anyone read Sophia’s “piece” and decide that there was no overlap with the marriage. There were multiple events those two attended AFTER Cannes.
