Icy's backstory from s8 is garbage
Icy’s backstory as shown in season 8 is ridiculous and doesn’t make any sense for the real Icy that we saw from season 1 up to 3.
Firstly, was she a witch or a fairy? Remember that in season 1, when the Trix broke into Alfea to look for the Dragon’s Flame, they mentioned that fairies are the ones who are royalties. In other words, if Icy was a witch, there’s no way she was ever royalty. Yet, in season 8, her backstory claims that she was a princess of a realm called Dyamond. If we are to accept and believe that, it would imply that she was a fairy who became a witch later on. Now listen, I know that the interconversion between fairies and witches exists in the Winx universe (even though it’s silly). But in this case, it’s not possible to assume that Icy was a royal fairy with a fairy family and became a witch when she swore to free her family from the “powerful witch’s spell.” Why? Well, I’ll tell you why.
In the earlier seasons it was mentioned that Icy, Darcy and Stormy were the direct descendants of the three ancestral witches. In other words, Icy was definitely a witch. Always has been. So, it contradicts her backstory of being a princess. Also, this is exactly why those three witches call each other ‘sisters’. They are related. Yet, in s8, Icy acts like she isn’t related to Darcy and Stormy at all but to some Sapphire who just materialized out of nowhere. Just weird.
Tumblr media
Now, in her backstory she was portrayed as a poor, wronged girl who wanted to avenge a family. Okay? Now kindly recollect the Icy up to season 3 or even up to season 7. Avenger? What a joke! A dominant, power-thirsty, cold-hearted, purely evil witch! Before anyone says – “She wanted power to free her family!” – listen up first! Think about how she showed no sympathy or understanding for Bloom and Domino even though the situation is basically the same for them in the first 3 seasons. Isn’t that weird?? Also, Icy was not only hungry for power but world domination – something clearly not needed if saving her family was her goal. She and her sisters tried to take over the Magic Universe several times. Also remember again that she is the descendent of Belladonna, one of the 3 Ancestral Witches – beings of pure evil. She definitely could not have been the cinnamon roll she was shown to be in her s8 backstory.
Tumblr media
Another thing. Hair colour. Lol, wth!? Icy always had white hair. In s3, the black willow episode showed how the Trix looked like when they were young. Icy had white hair and looked very different from the blonde-haired princess we saw in her backstory in s8. In fact, changing her hair colour from blonde to white is meaningless and … like, why would anyone want to do that? She’s supposed to be some panic-stricken princess in her backstory… not some fashion-crazy girl. Nothing makes sense. Absolutely nothing!
Tumblr media
Last but not the least, the Trix were arguably the most powerful witches after their ancestors in the series. So, who is this mysterious witch seemingly stronger than Icy, who destroyed Dyamond or whatever? This is stupid as hell.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rants. Byeee!!

Should I do matchups?
I saw this in some other fandoms and was thinking if I should do winx matchups. It would be like -> you tell me some things about yourself and I match you up with the winx fairy that I feel is the most like you. Or, it could be matching you up with a winx fairy who would be your best friend or whatever. Is it a good idea??

Winx fashion - casual outfits
I am bored. So, I will rank the Winx' casual outfits from every season of Winx Club (8 so far) according to my own tastes. It's purely my personal opinion.
The 8th position in the countdown goes to... Season 2.
Don't get me wrong. I do think they are nice outfits. I am just not much of a fan of them for some reason. There are lots of variations on Bloom's outfit in this season. Actually, they wear season 1 outfits as well as season 3 ones most of the time.
The 7th position in my list is... Season 7, lol.
They wear uniforms for some reason. They are pretty similar, because they are uniforms. But I do like the colour palettes and the high ponytails of Bloom and Stella. Musa's earrings are great too.
Tumblr media
The 6th position goes to... Season 8!
They are pretty outfits. Yes. Especially, Stella and Flora look great. Aisha slays too. I do like Bloom and Musa as well. Tecna's style, technically looks completely different from anything she's ever worn. But it's still good.
Tumblr media
The 5th position of this countdown is reserved for... Season 6.
As much as it's true that the season 6 uniforms are mostly just pink and lavender with maybe a bit of blue and gray… I still do like them. But I liked the initial concept look more. There, the deep pink and black combination was more eye-catchy. Again, Musa looks the best, I think. Bloom's hairstyle is something new and good.
Tumblr media
The 4th position is for... Season 4.
Yes, the outfits they wear in Gardenia as their casual wears are pretty cool. I mostly love Musa's look. She looks a lot more feminine than before, by the way. Bloom in so much pink is a new one starting from season 4 but it was good in my opinion.
Tumblr media
The 3rd position is definitely for... Season 1!
The original season also had one of the 3 most iconic casual looks according to me. Every one of the girls looked great. I mostly like Bloom, Stella and Flora's dress designs in the first season. Not much of a fan of Musa's design. Tecna's earrings in this season are by far the best accessories she's ever had.
Tumblr media
On to the 2nd position and it's for... Season 5.
Yeah that's right. I like girly clothing more. This season's casual outfits were pretty sweet and also individualized. Bloom looks good in blue and pink, Stella's dress in pink, purple and orange is just amazing... plus, she wears a hairband again. Yay. Flora's hair up in a ponytail with a green bow is really good. Musa looks more tomboyish again, Tecna's dress in this season looks the best on her, Aisha is pretty vibrant herself. No complaints. The boots they wear are great too.
Tumblr media
Finally, the 1st position and it goes to... Season 3.
I am not biased. I really am not. Season 3 really does have the best looks. All the casual outfits are amazing with special mentions of Musa's outfit with her changed hairstyle and length, plus Stella is a total queen. Bloom looks so cute... I just can't!
Tumblr media
Anyway, that's about all for my opinions. Thanks for reading! :)

Winx fashion - fairy forms
Hello everyone. I wanted to talk about the transformations in the show so far and give my personal opinions on which ones I liked more from a design perspective as an ordinary viewer with a very amateur sense of fashion. You are welcome to share your own views with me on this if you like.
Seasons 1 and 2 had the basic transformation, which unfortunately has no name. So, we will just call it Magic Winx for whatever reason. I do like their basic look. The outfits are candy coloured, incredibly simple and look different from one another while still giving off the vibe of being the same transformation. The wings look like those of a butterfly (Bloom), bird (Stella), leaves (Flora), god knows what (Musa & Aisha) and some techno-whatever for Tecna.
They look good anyway.
Charmix is just a power-up where they have the same outfit. They just get some accessories - brooches and hip bags. I like them all.
Tumblr media
Season 3 brings Enchantix as its transformation and it is definitely very pretty. I find it incredibly beautiful with those fairy dust pendants, barefoot sandals, etc. The wings are larger now and look good. I like how some colours (other than their stereotypical ones) are involved – like yellow for Musa. Their hair colours were slightly modified - getting lighter or a slightly different shade or just developing streaks in a bit lighter shade.
Tumblr media
Season 4 brings Believix as the main transformation. I don't hate it. But I don't love it either. The wings just got a bit larger - idk why. I like Bloom's colour palette but I don't like it particularly on her. Anyway, Flora looks good ig, Tecna is fine, I like Aisha's wings (that colour suits her more than the green she wore in the earlier seasons, in my humble opinion), Stella looks childish (probably bcz she starts getting childish from this season onwards) and Musa… I don’t like her bottom.
The sub-transformations of Sophix and Lovix were cool. But I personally did not like Aisha’s Sophix outfit. Also, when is Flora going to ditch the pinks and greens? It’s the same two colours with her on every outfit – casual, dressy, fairy form – everything!
Tumblr media
Also, Roxy is in this pic even though we still don't understand what her form is. :)
Season 5 has 2 transformations – Harmonix and Sirenix.
I love the design of Harmonix – the dresses (although almost the same), the hairstyles, the conch shell accessories – they are very pretty.
Tumblr media
Sirenix however, is disgusting. It rips off any and everything that made fairy outfits pretty in my eyes. I hate those wings, the leggings, and especially the hair-recolour whenever they go underwater. The colour palette sucks for those recolours. I absolutely hate them. The 3D animation in the Infinite Ocean doesn’t exactly help with these views.
Tumblr media
Season 6 has 2 transformations again – Bloomix and Mythix. This time however, they can have both transformations at the same time and don’t lose one to gain another or whatever.
Bloomix is supposed to give them a warrior fairy kind of look, I guess. It does. It is interesting design-wise. But I do not appreciate their wings getting even larger. There are jewels hanging off their wings but they aren’t as pretty as in Enchantix. The jewels are basically just symbols of their respective powers. I like Stella’s Bloomix design the most. I also like Flora’s Bloomix.
Tumblr media
Now, for Mythix. This is again, only seen in 3D as they enter the Legendarium World. In the 3D view, they look bad – especially Bloom… she looks hideous. But there are 2D illustrations available online. I tried to look for ones that would best translate what we saw in 3D to the 2D style. I added a pic here with some illustrations in 2D.
But, I think the comics have a better grip on Mythix. I added a screenshot from the comics too.
I love Mythix – the concept, the design (2D) and also the idea of having wands. Yes, please. Bloom’s arm warmers and bubble skirt are pretty, Aisha’s water lines on her dress, Musa’s music notes on her dress and shoes as well as Flora’s ruffles on her dress which give the illusion of flower petals, are all so beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On to season 7 where, again, there are 2 transformations – Butterflix and Tynix.
As much as people hate it, I personally like Butterflix. The design isn’t bad. Their dresses look like butterfly wings and so do their wings, actually. They have a lot of butterfly accessories and stuff. It isn’t bad. I like the pastel colours. I know their dresses look all the same, but it is still pretty. I especially love Aisha and Flora’s Butterflix designs. Then again, Stella’s Butterflix involves a lot of purple this time, which is not a colour she generally wears in her fairy forms. Musa’s Butterflix however, is a bit unappealing to me in terms of the colour palette.
Tumblr media
I am not a fan of Tynix. Probably an unpopular opinion. But still… not a fan. I do like Aisha’s Tynix though. But the rest is… idk.
Tumblr media
Season 8 had way too many redesigns of previous transformations, including a new variant of Sirenix, called Crystal Sirenix for diving into freezing waters (love the concept though). I don’t like the redesigns. End of story.
Cosmix is the new transformation of season 8. Again, I put up the picture in previous seasons’ art styles. It looks cool but incredibly childish, in my opinion. But that is what it is about this season.
Tumblr media
Anyway, that’s all. Sorry for the long rant. Bye :)

Winx fashion - gowns
I just wanted to do a very small rant on how fashion has 'evolved' in this show over the years and I'm gonna start with gowns/regal dresses. I am not a fashionista and English is not my mother tongue. So, I would request all to forgive my incompetence in both of these areas.
In season 1, we find the winx wearing gowns/dresses for the gift exchange ceremony at Alfea. They must have owned those before they set foot at Alfea, so I am guessing those designs will say a lot about the fashion trends in their home worlds.
I actually like their outfits from then: -
Tumblr media
In season 2, they did not have any gowns but they did have party wear, which I am not going to include here.
Season 3 had the best gowns in winx history, according to me. The designs were a bit different between the season and the 1st movie and I like both. However, I prefer the look from the season a bit more: -
Tumblr media
Season 4, again, had no gowns.
On to season 5 where... I feel disappointed. The gowns we get this season were ones that were designed keeping in mind the concept of Domino celebrating its return to life. I get the symbolism of the flowers and also the fact that we see Domino is full of flower gardens. But the way it got carried in the design... did not appeal to me much.
For one thing, the flowers themselves were very poorly drawn. I can't tell what flowers they are. Are they roses? Or maybe something else? I don't know. They don't look anything like flowers at all. Secondly, their gowns are very similar to each other now with the only difference being in the random ways that those horrible flowers are slapped on them. It was difficult for me to even look at those gowns. Bloom's gown could have looked okay though, if only they looked like real roses on her: -
Tumblr media
However, I did like Bloom and Stella's hairdos and their accessories. Those were nice, in my opinion. Just personal opinions, anyway.
In season 6, once again we get similar gowns for all the fairies. Stella even adds matching wings-like-stuff at the back of every gown, adding to the uniformity. But once again, I actually like the accessories that they wear along with them. I think blue looks really good on Stella and it's probably the first time Bloom tried lavender or Musa wore orange or even Aisha put on yellow. It was good to see them wear something different from their signature colours for their gowns. Flora however...is still stuck with green, because why would she ever wear anything other than pink and green?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They wore these same exact gowns in season 7.
As far as season 8 is concerned, we are shown that Stella is about to design a dress fit for a queen. But she literally just designs her gown from season 6 with very marginal differences. I...have no words.
Anyway, at least we do get new gowns in season 8 aside from that. But they are once again, in their signature colours and have nothing great or special about them - again seeming to be very uniform. The only thing is that they were sparkling and had lots of dress accessories involved - most of them looking like flowers or jewels.
Tumblr media
Ah, but maybe Aisha and Bloom still look pretty? Idk anymore. The quality of dress designs has clearly degraded (like everything else in the show). I just had to put this pic in the earlier seasons' art styles. I just cannot stand the horrendous art style of season 8.
Thanks for listening to my boring rants. Bye! :)
