hi hello everyone, i just want to give y’all a little update on what i’m doing with my characters now that we had the plot drop & it changed everything ? lmao

hayden: still the same old hoe, so i’ll be keeping his old threads and plots all the same ! frank: a lil rat bitch that is going to switch sides once he realizes that joining the cobras means a smaller chance of ending up in jail, so i’ll also keep his old threads and plots & then take up this new angle with the new threads ! king: i changed literally every single detail about his past except who his family is :/ so i’m going to drop all of the threads i have for him & start over, pls don’t hate me but also come plot with my new-but-not-really son.

grey is silent as he listens on  ,  taking in the particularly worst scuff on the bottom of his sneaker  .  he pauses as hayden recounts the bombing  .  he hadn’t been a witness  ,  had been on his way into town  ,  but he’d been briefed and the entire experience came off as down right traumatizing  .  ❝ look  -  ❞  the blond begins  ,  looking up  ,  concern reflecting in his gaze  ,  expression unreserved for the briefest of moments  .  ❝  i know you don’t want to hear it but there IS a life outside of all of this .  ❞  he motions towards the small gathering of people with his shoulder  ,  movements loose thanks to the alcohol  .  ❝  on one of my first investigations i was sent to this little off the wall town  ,  a death in a little hotel  ,  completely unremarkable to anyone from the outside  .  we saw it for what it was a hit  .   ❞  though grey knew probably shouldn’t be spilling such information  ,  he doubted a closed case would matter much  . ❝  one by one the people in this town start disappearing  ,  their bodies turning up days  -  maybe even weeks  -  later  . took out about half the town before we busted the mayor for ties with a russian mob ring  .  had been running the entire town for nearly twenty years before the city council started to turn on them .  ❞  heterochromatic orbs darken a fraction and he grabs for the flask  ,  taking another swig before focusing on hayden  ,  never having thought he’d be sitting here recounting this to his ex of all people  .  ❝  it was one of the worst cases i’ve ever seen  -  until now  . and here i am wondering how valdez went to shit so fucking quick  . ❞  he pulls in a breath  ,  laughing humorlessly  .  ❝  this isn’t going to end well you know  .  we’re all probably going to get ourselves killed  . ❞

hayden couldn’t hold back the snort. ❝ there isn’t a life outside of this. not for me. i’ve been in this for way too long, grey--- i’ve ... i’ve done stuff, stuff you don’t know about. if i try to leave, they’ll kill me. ❞ the brunet stopped for a moment, resting his cheekbone against his own knee. ❝ plus, let’s be real. i’ve been stripping for longer than anything else. i could never find another job. not a legal one, at this point. ❞ it was a fear that haunted hayden most nights, when he wasn’t too tired or too drunk, and it wasn’t something he had talked about to anyone else with such candor. he listens to grey’s story in silence, unsure where he’s going with it. by the end, the man doesn’t really know what to say. he knows the gang has ruined innocent lives, he’s not that much of an idiot. he’s also very selfish, and knows his own life is better with them around than not. ❝ grey, just ... ❞ he hesitated, unsure of why he was even saying what he was about to say. ❝ be careful, alright ? i know you have to investigate this shit, i get that. but they won’t care that you’re only trying to do your job. you go too far, they’ll kill you without a second thought. ❞
