Thanksgiving Day Food Filipino-Style
Tumblr media
First of all, it’s a well-known fact that Filipinos don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. But with many Americans migrating to the Philippines and vice versa, some have adopted the tradition and made it their own.
If ever Windsor Tavern were to host a Thanksgiving Day feast then we’d switch out the customary food and turn it into a Filipino-Style fiesta with all-time Pinoy favorite food.
FROM ROASTED TURKEY TO GRILLED CHICKEN
When the Thanksgiving tradition started, the English used turkey that was just walking around. In the Philippines, we don’t have turkey but we have a lot of chickens clucking around every empty lot available.
That is why we’re switching the roasted turkey to roasted chicken which is a total Pinoy favorite.

That is why we’re switching the roasted turkey to roasted chicken which is a total Pinoy favorite.
FROM CRANBERRY SAUCE TO GRAVY
In the America, they pair their turkey with a sweet cranberry sauce for extra flavor. But we’d rather much flood our chicken with classic Mang Tomas gravy.
FROM MASHED POTATOES TO FRIED RICE
Most Westerners get their source of carbohydrates from bread and potatoes, a popular dish they use a carb supplement is mashed potatoes. We Filipinos love it too, but when caught in between choosing mashed potatoes and rice we all know who would win by a landslide.
Maybe a classic fried rice with garlic and onion, maybe even some corn, carrots, and peas can make our stomachs full and happy.
FROM SAUTÉED BEANS AND CARROTS TO CHOPSUEY
To go along with the mashed potatoes and chicken and to claim that the meal is “healthy”, Americans quickly sauté string beans or carrots and add some herbs and spice for extra flavor. But Pinoys would just rather boil the string beans and carrots plus some cabbage for a more filling meal like chopsuey. Plus, it’s free soup to go with the rice!
FROM PECAN PIE TO LECHE FLAN
Pies are a big part of the perfect Thanksgiving meal. There’s Strawberry Pie, Blueberry Pie, Apple Pie, and so many sweetened fruit pair with baked bread. But the Pecan Pie has to be classic American Thanksgiving pie that ties the whole meal together.
Filipinos would ask, why would we eat bread for dessert? We’d rather much have leche flan! This sugar and egg white combination is the best way to appease our sweet tooth and the celebration.
But Thanksgiving or not, we should all celebrate and be grateful for what we have in our lives like family, good friends, good food, and a good life.

Win Poker All The Time With These 4 Easy Steps You Can Practice
Tumblr media
Poker is a popular past time with origins dating back from a thousand years ago. With foreigners bringing the game to our shores, Filipinos have adapted the game with their own rules. Although Pusoy Dos is a more common game to play, nothing beats its predecessor Poker.
Many bars and nightlife hangouts have added poker tables to accommodate the growing interest with the game. If you’re only beginning to learn the basics of Poker, we have simple advice to push your luck on how to win at poker!
1. CALLING A LOT DOESN’T MEAN WINNING MORE
When you put more hands on the line, that doesn’t promise and easy win. Instead it will guarantee a big loss for you.
2. YOU DON’T ALWAYS NEED TO BLUFF
If you’re playing for fun then it doesn’t matter how many times you bluff with your friends. But if it turns serious, more experienced players will easily call your bluff if you don’t know what you’re doing.
3. PAY ATTENTION TO THE GAME
Poker is a combination of math and luck, so focusing on the game is important to win and double your money back.
4. KNOW THE RULES
There are different kinds of poker games with different rules, but make sure to know what game you’re playing and study the poker rulebook.
There are many more tips and tricks by experts but for now these are just really simple ways we’ve learned in playing poker. We’re not total experts, YET. We’ll be sure to update this blog when we’ve gained more experience in playing the game. For now, we’ll just enjoy the great food and company the game allows us.

3 Reasons Why Food and Music are Great Together
Everyone loves going to restaurants. We visit them because of the food, the ambiance, and of course, the music. But did you know that food and music has a hidden connection? Thanks to science, it’s been found that music completely redefines our restaurant experience.
MUSIC CHANGES THE WAY WE EAT
I know what you’re thinking, how could music make us eat in a different way? It’s been discovered that eating while listening to music may possibly increase the intake of our food and drinks. It also makes our meal longer because of how we enjoy the atmosphere the music set while eating. But that’s not all! The musical rhythm affects the rhythm of our chewing. According to McElera and Standing, people eat faster when they’re exposed to speedy tempo while slow music makes people eat slower and drink more.
MUSIC AND FOOD BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
Eating together is one of the many forms of bonding. That’s why we eat together with our family and friends. And when you add music to the picture, expect a deeper bond. That’s why when you’re having a romantic dinner, a slow and soulful song helps set the romantic mood even more. Eating out with friends in bars and restaurant is set to lively songs where everyone could sing along.

Easy Basic Steps in Throwing Darts
For example you’re in your regular bar for a casual drink with friends or in a reunion with old classmates and one proposes to use the bar’s facilities to start a game of darts. Everyone agrees and says it will be fun while you sit there silently not knowing not to do. You didn’t want to ruin the night so you just agreed to play along even if you have no knowledge on how to even play darts. Yikes.
If this situation is one of your worst nightmares then don’t worry, we got you covered! We give you the 5 most basic steps in throwing darts so that you won’t look that bad and might actually impress some people.
1. FOCUS AIM AND DIRECT
The objective of your grip should be to keep the end of the dart pointing up in each throwing stage.
2. STAY RELAXED
Your grip should be stable, firm and should not put tension on the muscles of your fingers.
3. USE AT LEAST THREE FINGERS
Using more fingers will provide more regulation and control of the dart when gathering speed, but it makes the release more difficult.
4. PUT YOUR “RIGHT FOOT FORWARD”
Players set their eye, the dart and their target in a line. When a player makes a throw, he tries to maintain the movement of his arm in a plane of two dimensions.
5. FIND BALANCE
Lifting your leg when throwing is discouraged. Always keep your feet on the floor.
Now that you’ve got the basics down, all you need is focus and a little bit of luck to win! Darts isn’t an easy game, but you’ll enjoy with friends when you know how.
