Lammas & Lugh, The Craftsman God
At Lammas, also called Lughnasadh is a harvest holiday. Today we honor our ancestors and the hard work they must have had to do in order to survive. This is a good time to give thanks for the abundance we have in our lives, and to be grateful for the food on our tables. Lammas is a time of transformation, of rebirth and new beginnings.
The word Lammas derives from the Old English phrase hlaf-maesse, which translates to loaf mass. Lughnasadh (pronounced Loo-NAS-ah) is still celebrated in many parts of the world today. Lugh's influence appears in the names of several European towns.
Lugh was known as a god of both skill and the distribution of talent. Legends say that Lugh was a master craftsman, poet, healer, and jack-of-all-trades, and that there was no skill that he couldn't perform. Worshiped as the sun god, he symbolizes enlightenment as he brings light to the world.
Lugh was born from the relationship of Ethne, the daughter of the Fomorian king Balor and a young man, Cian (Kian) who belonged to Tuatha Dé Danann and in our earlier article on Ancient Pages, we described how Lugh came into the world. Tailtiu was Lugh’s foster-mother and his adoptive father was the god of the sea, Manannán mac Lir, who was older than the Tuatha de Danaan tribe people but considered as one of them.
For many Pagans and Wiccans, Lugh is honored as the champion of artistry and skills. Many artisans, musicians, bards, and crafters invoke Lugh when they need assistance with creativity. Today Lugh is still honored at the time of harvest, not only as a god of grain but also as a god of late summer storms.
Even today, in Ireland many people celebrate Lughnasadh with dancing, song, and bonfires. The Catholic church also has set this date aside for a ritual blessing of farmers' fields. It's sometimes refered to as Lammas or Lughnasadh depending on where you heard it. Lughnasadh is named after Lugh.
In early Ireland, it was a bad idea to harvest any time before Lammas(or Lughnasadh). However, on August 1, the first sheaves of grain were cut by the farmer, and by nightfall his wife had made the first loaves of bread of the season.

What are Ogham Staves?
The Celtic tree ogham is a mnemonic device and magical system used as a divination method.
Ogham is often called a “tree alphabet.” Although this term has its merits, it can be misleading. In fact, the ogham is far more than a writing system. The ogham sigils are called feda, which means “trees,” and sometimes nin, “forking branches.”
Ogham and its use is mentioned in many Celtic myths and folktales. The ogham represents a map to lead us through an evolutionary spiral up and around the World Tree, from birth to death and beyond, or on a smaller scale, through the process of manifestation for all creative projects and processes.
Ogham staves becomes an embodiment of the tree’s particular energy and spirit. The ogham thus becomes an ally in divination, contemplation, and magic.
Ogham can be used for divination in various ways. Ogham staves can be drawn at random from a bag and cast upon a cloth for “open” divination methods, or they can be chosen at random and placed in a sequence or pattern for interpretation in relation to their position.
Working effectively with the ogham relies on a closely built relationship with the trees and their spirits.
You'll find more information on Ogham Staves, a reference guide to Ogham Staves and Midsummer magick in our June 2018 edition of Witchology Magazine!

Charge Of The Goddess
Charge of the Goddess is perhaps one of the best-known pieces of ritual poetry in today’s magical community. The charge itself is a promise, made by the Goddess to her followers, that she will guide them, teach them, and lead them when they need her the most.
The foundation of the work comes from a book titled Aradia: Gospel of the Witches written by Charles Leland and published in 1899.
When the Charge is commonly used: At the beginning of a ritual. At the end of a ritual, as a closure. During daily devotions. During personal spell-working.
Leland’s text, is a speech that Aradia, daughter of Diana, delivers to her pupils:
When I shall have departed from this world, Whenever ye have need of anything, Once in the month, and when the moon is full, Ye shall assemble in some desert place, Or in a forest all together join To adore the potent spirit of your queen, My mother, great Diana. She who fain Would learn all sorcery yet has not won Its deepest secrets, them my mother will Teach her, in truth all things as yet unknown. And ye shall all be freed from slavery, And so ye shall be free in everything; And as the sign that ye are truly free, Ye shall be naked in your rites, both men And women also: this shall last until The last of your oppressors shall be dead; And ye shall make the game of Benevento, Extinguishing the lights, and after that Shall hold your supper thus.
Doreen Valiente has the longest Charge and is generally broken into two parts as shown below:
Part 1 Listen to the words of the Great Mother, who was of old also called Artemis; Astarte; Diana; Melusine; Aphrodite; Cerridwen; Dana; Arianrhod; Isis; Bride; and by many other names.
Whenever ye have need of anything, once in a month, and better it be when the Moon be full, then ye shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of me, who am Queen of all Witcheries.
There shall ye assemble, ye who are fain to learn all sorcery, yet have not yet won its deepest secrets: to these will I teach things that are yet unknown.
And ye shall be free from slavery; and as a sign that ye are really free, ye shall be naked in your rites; and ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love, all in my praise.
For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and mine also is joy on earth; for my Law is Love unto all Beings.
Keep pure your highest ideal; strive ever toward it; let naught stop you or turn you aside.
For mine is the secret door which opens upon the Land of Youth; and mine is the Cup of the Wine of Life, and the Cauldron of Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of Immortality.
I am the Gracious Goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart. Upon earth, I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal; and beyond death, I give peace, and freedom, and reunion with those who have gone before. Nor do I demand sacrifice, for behold I am the Mother of All Living, and my love is poured out upon the earth.
Part 2 Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess, she in the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven; whose body encircleth the Universe; I, who am the beauty of the green earth, and the white Moon among the stars, and the mystery of the waters, and the heart’s desire, call unto thy soul. Arise and come unto me.
For I am the Soul of Nature, who giveth life to the universe; from me all things proceed, and unto me must all things return; and before my face, beloved of gods and mortals, thine inmost divine self shall be unfolded in the rapture of infinite joy.
Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth, for behold: all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you.
And thou who thinkest to seek for me, know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not, unless thou know this mystery: that if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, thou wilt never find it without thee.
For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning; and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.
Starhawk created her own Charge in her work, The Spiral Dance, first published in 1979, which is adapted by Doreen Valiente's traditional Charge:
Listen to the words of the Great Mother, Who of old was called Artemis, Astarte, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Diana, Arionrhod, Brigid, and by many other names:
Whenever you have need of anything, once a month, and better it be when the moon is full, you shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of Me Who is Queen of all the Wise.
You shall be free from slavery, and as a sign that you be free you shall be naked in your rites.
Sing, feast, dance, make music and love, all in My Presence, for Mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and Mine also is joy on earth.
For My law is love is unto all beings. Mine is the secret that opens the door of youth, and Mine is the cup of wine of life that is the cauldron of Cerridwen, that is the holy grail of immortality.
I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal, and beyond death I give peace and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before.
Nor do I demand aught of sacrifice, for behold, I am the Mother of all things and My love is poured out upon the earth.
Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of Whose feet are the hosts of Heaven, whose body encircles the universe:
I Who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.
For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe.
From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.
Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.
Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.
And you who seek to know Me, know that the seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without.
For behold, I have been with you from the beginning, and I am That which is attained at the end of desire.

The Wiccan Rede
Here are two versions of The Wiccan Rede by Doreen Valiente and Lady Gwen Thompson. Read down below for FREE BOS pages featuring the two versions of the Wiccan Rede.
A similar rule is found in the work of Aleister Crowley around the turn of the century, in which he advised his readers, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the Law, love under Will."
One version was made famous by Doreen Valiente in the early 1960s, and in 1974 a lengthier version, by Lady Gwen Thompson, was published in the Green Egg, a Pagan magazine. Thompson credited her grandmother, Adriana Porter, with the original work. Although there is no scholarly evidence for this claim, the work remains one of the most popular writings in Wicca today.
The Wiccan Rede by Doreen Valiente - 1964
Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust. Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.
For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out. To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.
Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much. Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again.
Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune. Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two. When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.
Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail. When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth. When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow. Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.
Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.
Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland. Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.
Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning. White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.
Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine. Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.
Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be. Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.
As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain. When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.
When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn. As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.
Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all. When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.
In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way. When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.
Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall. Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.
Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know. When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend. Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.
Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.
These Eight words the Rede fulfill:
"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
Lady Gwen Thompson's version of the Wiccan Rede reads as follows:
The Rede of the Wiccae
Being known as the counsel of the Wise Ones: Bide the Wiccan laws ye must, in perfect love and perfect trust. Live and let live, fairly take and fairly give. Cast the Circle thrice about to keep the evil spirits out.
To bind the spell every time, let the spell be spake in rhyme. Soft of eye and light of touch, speak little, listen much. Deosil go by the waxing Moon, sing and dance the Wiccan rune. Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the Werewolf howls by the dread Wolfsbane.
When the Lady's Moon is new, kiss thy hand to Her times two. When the Moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek. Heed the Northwind's mighty gale; lock the door and drop the sail.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss thee on the mouth. When the wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast. When the West wind blows o'er thee, departed spirits restless be.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them quick a' burn them slow. Elder be ye Lady's tree; burn it not or cursed ye'll be. When the Wheel begins to turn, let the Beltane fires burn. When the Wheel has turned at Yule, light the log and let Pan rule.
Heed ye flower bush and tree, by the Lady Bless'd Be. Where the rippling waters go cast a stone and truth ye'll know. When find that ye have need, hearken not to others' greed. With the fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry meet and merry part, bright the cheeks and warm the heart. Mind the Threefold Law ye should, three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow, wear the Blue Star on thy brow. True in love ever be unless thy lover's false to thee. Eight words ye Wiccan Rede fulfill: An' it harm none, do what ye will.

Types Of Witches
Alexandrian - Influenced by Gardner and his tradition, Alexandrian Wicca uses a degree system and has ties to ceremonial magic systems. This is a tradition which focuses on the polarity between the genders, and rites and ceremonies often dedicate equal time to the God and the Goddess. Although members are initiated, there is no laity; every individual is a priest or priestess.
Augury - Similar to a shaman in practice, the augury witch will help to direct those on a spiritual quest by interpreting the signs and symbols the traveler encounters. It is important to note that augury witches are not "fortune tellers", as their gifts are of prophecy and not divination.
Ceremonial - Rituals are held in high esteem. They might have a Book of Shadows always handy, and they might also draw on their knowledge of more scientific approaches, such as sacred mathematics and quantum mysticism. They may use a combination of disciplines drawn from the Old Ways, but will often employ more scientific precisions such as sacred mathematics and quantum mysticism as well.
Correllian - The Correllian Nativist Tradition is a well-known tradition of witchcraft today. Originally a family hereditary tradition, members of the Correllian tradition opened their teachings up to the public a few decades ago.
Cottage- A variation of Kitchen Witches. witch whose magickal practice focuses mainly on the home, similar to a Kitchen Witch but with less of a specific food/kitchen focus and more of a general home focus such as cleaning, cooking, or any hobbies.
Dianic - The most feminist of all Wiccan movements, the Cult of Diana focuses primarily on the worship of the Goddess. Dianic has been embraced by many women trying to find an alternative to oppressive, patriarchal religion.
Elemental - Magick that is worked by honoring/acknowledging the 4 or all 5 elements: Water, Earth, Air, Fire, and Spirit. Commonly an Elementalist will dedicate different areas of their altars to each element, call upon them during spells and rituals, and use symbols to represent each.
Water - Specifically centered on the element of Water; water scrying, collecting sea/storm/snow/river/spring water, swimming/bath spells and other water-related actives, creating and using symbols associated with water. Earth - Specifically centered on the element of Earth; grounding exercises, rock/soil collecting, strong appreciation of the natural world, creating and using symbols associated with earth. Air - Specifically centered on the element of Air; working with wind, using air-related tools (such as the wand), creating and using symbols associated with air. Fire - Specifically centered on the element of Fire; Using anything fire-related (bonfires, candles, burning objects) in most spellwork, creating and using symbols associated with fire.
Eclectic - Witches who don’t follow a certain religion or practice. They may follow more than a single tradition and they can utilize different paths, cultures and traditions. Eclectic Witches pick and choose from many different traditions and creates a personalized form of witchcraft that meets their individual needs and abilities.
Garden - Gardening can be a meditative practice and it also helps us get in touch with the cycles of the Earth. Kitchen Witches, Green Witches, Hedge Witches and followers of Earth Based Spirituality.
Gardnerian - You can only become a Gardnerian Witch by initiation – you cannot initiate yourself. When Gerald Gardner founded Wicca in the 1950s, he set the wheels turning for countless other traditions to form. Many of today's Wiccan covens can trace their origins back to Gardner, but the Gardnerians path itself remains initiatory and oathbound.
Green - Utilizing earth, plants, trees, rocks, crystals, herbs and flowers in herbal and natural magick. Green Witches are often skilled herbalists and may enjoy gardening and wildcrafting as part of their practice. Some Green Witches choose to also work with the fey.
Hedge - Also known as an astral title, a type of magick that is oriented around more spiritual work; astral travel/projection, lucid dreaming, spirit-work, healing, and out-of-body experiences are all practices included in this magick. The word hedge refers to boundary separating the our world from the Otherworld. It is shamanic and seidh in nature, but with some stark differences to separate the three. Seidh involves communication with the spirit by a group of people using an oracular. Most Hedge Witches are both solitary and eclectic in their practice.
Hereditary -  Also known as a Family Tradition Witch. You can only be a Hereditary Witch if you are born into a family where the members practice witchcraft, and have passed the practice down from generation to generation. Of course, if you’re born into such a family, you still have the freedom of choice. You can only become a Hereditary Witch if you consciously accept the practice – no one can force it on you.
Kitchen - Magick that is worked specifically through “kitchen craft” such as herbal mixtures, brewing, baking, and cooking, and honors many aspects of the natural world: including herbs, crystals, fey, and the elements.
Sea - A type of magick derived from materials and ideas involving the oceanic world. Sea/Ocean magick can be worked using seashells and bones, sea weed, beach sand, driftwood, ocean water, etc. and a sea witch might draw their energy from that of the sea. Sea Witches focus on Moon lore, the tides, and weather magicks by combining one’s energy with the energy of the weather.
Secular - While a Secular Witch may use tools such as crystals, herbs and stones in their practices, they do not recognize them as divine or spiritual.
Shaman - Someone who can reach altered states of consciousness by engaging in certain shamanistic practices. When a Shaman enters a trance state, they have access to the spirit realm, and they can communicate with and sometimes even influence both benevolent and malevolent spirits. They can channel their messages, as well as performing divination and healing. Solitary - A Solitary Witch does not belong to a set practice, group or organization. Legend has it that these witches have practiced their craft over many lifetimes, and upon reaching puberty their knowledge is re-awakened. They begin to remember their craft and therefore don’t need the help of a group or organization to perform their magick rites.

A Witch's Sacred Space
A sacred space is an area you can use for ritual. This is the easiest way to understand a sacred space but let's dive a bit deeper into what this space means and how to create one for yourself. A sacred space is one between the worlds, a spot that is not just a physical place, but one that exists on the spiritual plane as well. It may help you in your magical and spiritual practice if you learn how to create a sacred space for yourself.
The sacred comes from the Middle English word meaning “to consecrate.” So, an object or place that is sacred is one that has been consecrated. It is also something that has been devoted to worship or set apart for a single use.
In order to really make an area sacred you need to cleanse the space of negative energies and consecrate it. A place that has been made sacred in such a way is a great space in which to spend time. You can relax there, meditate, or communicate with deity. Sacred space is safe space—somewhere you feel not just comfortable, but welcome.
What's the difference between a sacred space and magick circle? Well, a sacred space is space that has been cleansed and consecrated and a magick circle is also an area that has been cleansed and consecrated, but it is more than that. A magick circle is an area of protection. Before you pull up a magick circle in which to do your workings, you need to cleanse and consecrate the area. Then you make your circle inside the consecrated space. The magick circle protects you from other entities and prevents any undirected energies from escaping and causing harm.
Probably the most important features of a place where you choose to do ritual are your feelings of safety and privacy. To create a sacred space it can begin with the act of cleansing. You can take a room that gets everyday usage, and by ritually cleansing it, turn it into a place of magic and tranquility. Use methods such as smudging and aspersing to ritually cleanse the space prior to use.
A note on magick circles, once you have made a magick circle in which to work, you should stay inside the circle. If you need to leave, you have to cut a door in the circle to do so. Many witches believe it is best to locate a door in the circle in the north or east. To create a door, you cut the energy field of the circle with your athame. To read more on casting a circle visit our previous article.
To summarize, an area that has been cleansed and consecrated is sacred space. You make your magick circle inside sacred space.

Magickal Oils 101
A Magickal Oil is a pure or mixed oil created with a specific purpose in mind by visualization Magickal oils are known for being used in ceremonies and rituals. Oils can also be used for both anointing people and objects like dressing charms, amulets, talismans, crystals, candles, or mojo bags. This is a great way to turn a simple item into an item with magical power and energy.
Anointing is the purpose of rubbing a blessed or charged oil that are formulated for specific purposes. This blends the powerful energies of the oil into the object.
Oils are now incorporated in to the everyday - magickal or not. This is done by putting a few drops of certain oils in a bath, an oil burner or a diffuser. To use Oils in magickal practice you can either choose oils that you like the smell of and helps you focus on spell-work or choose oils according to their specific magical correspondences. Whichever the purpose always remember to visualize a magickal goal while using oils to get the most out of them.
Types of magickal oils are: Anointing Oils - Anointing oil is sacred oil, blessed and charged and specially formulated for  a specific purpose usually for people. Carrier Oils- vegetable and mineral oils, that are used to help dilute Essential Oils that might cause skin  irritation. Condition Oils- Anointing or conjure oils used to help relieve or improve someone's condition.  Conjure Oils- A Dressing oil from an ancient practice usually African, European or Native American traditions. Usually found in Hoodoo.  Dressing Oils- specially prepared oil applied to spell and ritual objects before using them to sanctify, charge and prepare them for use. Essential Oils- volatile, concentrated oils, with the characteristic scent of the plant/flower they are from. Ritual Oils- oils used to anoint candles, ritual tools, material, furniture, money, and other such items, and when use to anoint the body are often also called Anointing Oils.
Magickal oils are most easily made by mixing essential oils or dried herbs with a carrier oil. A carrier oil wont change the scent of the oil and dilutes it just enough to be used on the skin. My favorite carrier or base oil is jojoba. It's technically a liquid form of wax that wont leave your skin feeling oily. It's recommended by Scott Cunningham to mix 5 to 7 drops of essential oil per 1/8 cup of carrier oil. *Absolute oils are essential oils mixed with carrier oils but may contain traces of the chemical solvents. It's a more affordable option but not recommended for medicinal or aromatherapy uses.
It's also fun to add your own special ingredients like crystal chips, flowers, and herbs to make it your own.

A Lesson On Auras
Welcome to our lesson on Auras. In metaphysics, Aura refers to the energy field emanating from the surface of a person or object.  Modern New Age metaphysics identify the aura as electromagnetic fields. They can be seen as well as felt, or sensed. Auras can reveal a person’s emotional well being as well as physical state.
Auras vibrate to different colors, sounds, and light frequencies. The color spectrum varies with one's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual states. To begin seeing the aura, you have to be comfortable practicing soft-focus vision. To do this, gaze at one spot for 30-60 seconds and allow your gaze to soften. Notice those objects just outside of your direct sight to further develop your periphery vision. Eventually a thin white band will come into view. This is the first layer of the aura. Once you’re able to view the white band, fix your gaze a little way beyond it. Eventually colors will come into view.
Gently rub your hands together, this activates energy between the two hands and turns on the Aka (the ethereal substance of life-- to the ancient Egyptians and is the invisible thread that creates matter.)* Focus your attention between the palms and see if you can sense a color to these threads of energy. An Aura will generally be 2-3 ft in an oval shape around the human body. The color of the aura reveals a person's emotional well being as well as physical state.
Colors of auras: Red: energy, strength, courage Brick red: anger Deep red: sensuality Crimson: loyalty Pink: cheerfulness, optimism Rose: self love Orange: joy, vitality, mental and physical balance Yellow: wisdom, creativity, spirituality Grayish yellow: fear Green: Ingenuity, compassion, growth Pale green: healing power Grayish green: pessimism, envy Blue: spiritual, idealistic, imaginative, intellectual Grayish blue: melancholy Ice blue: intellectual Purple: spiritual power
Auras will allow you to program crystals for healing work. Gaps and holes in the layers of an aura can lead to illness and can be healed through use of crystals and energy moving magick with the palms of a healer. To program a crystal, first bless it and purify yourself in sea salt enhanced water, hold the crystal at third eye psychic point and envision the crystal as cleared. Then envision your own white aura expanding to transform any darkness into light and cleanse the crystal. It may help to project an image of what the crystal is meant to help with.
Frankincense essential oil, clear quartz, Lapis Lazuli both assists with aura cleansing and Flourite is known for healing energy drains in the aura.
Learning to pair aura reading with energy work, meditation, breathing exercises, visualization and chakra work will further your magickal and spiritual studies to spiritual enlightenment.
Thanks for reading witches! Stay powerful until our next article and don't forget to share and comment!

Writing Your Own Incantations
Where does one begin with an incantation? I feel like when I started my witchy training I was so worried about getting the spells and incantations absolutely perfect, I was't in the right mind-frame for casting. Once I realized the importance of words and found my method for writing incantations, everything started falling into place.
Words deeply effect everyone and everything around us so it would make sense that incantations, chants or affirmations are so powerful. If you think about it everything around us are composed of vibrations. Words create results.
Adding rhythm to your spells adds power to your statements and also make it easy to remember. As long as your imagination and intention are in the right place the words will follow. Incantations allow you to use your imagination. You can also add a chant to your spell which will help raise energy. Chants are phrases, words and syllables repeated for a purpose. Most people chant mantras for spiritual purposes.
Back to incantations. The easiest way to write an incantation is to break it down into three sections; past (or trouble), present (or request) and future (intention/desired outcome).
Here are a few personal spells:
Lost and unable to find my way, hear my plea, help me find, A sign or a light to a doorway.
Stone of quartz lost from sight, Find your way back to me, So I may enjoy you again, shining and bright.
As you can see I tend to lose a lot. Nevertheless, it's good to practice with things you have strong intentions or desires about. While writing spells can be rewarding and fun, always remember to create an exit spell or a loophole of sorts. This is your get out of jail free card.
It can look something like this, attached to a spell:
Come to me, a muse to write, So I may succeed, flourish and thrive, Until the clock strikes 12 this night.
Or, if you want to leave your incantation alone, you can write another incantation to cancel your first spell. An example of a counter incantation:
This harmful spell I now undo, All that was changed, return and renew.
All of these are options because creating the right incantation is special to each person. You may like rhyming more, or not rhyming at all. You may even choose to say your incantations only in your head. It's all okay.
I want to briefly cover one of the most popular saying in Wicca, "So mote it be." In modern Wiccan traditions, the phrase often appears as a way of wrapping up a ritual or spell It's basically. a way of saying, "And so it shall be." It's a powerful statement that is full of intent. It's a wonderful phrase to be added to any incantation!
Thank's for stopping by! Please remember to comment and share.
Merry part and merry meet again!

A Witch's Personal Protection
Personal protection is a must for any witch. Protecting yourself psychically from negativity, outside forced and contaminated energies relies on you being able to sense and manipulate energy. There is shielding, blocking, charging and returning.
Let's begin with shielding. This protects your physical body and it covers you from head to toe. Typically, the shield is like a second skin and it keeps you safe from any magickal influence or threats you may come in contact with as you move about your daily life.
With some simple psychic self defense techniques, you will be able to overcome negative energies and other things that can penetrate your energy field like psychic vampires who suck the energy of others.
Personal shields are especially needed when you cast magick that isn't big enough for casting a circle of protection. You can also use a personal shield if you feel a person is directing negativity at you. You will experience energy loss, depression, a change in your attitude or feel uneasy.
Begin by sensing your own energy and force it to expand to contain and surround your body. This is like another skin. Maintain this solid energy and use it to push against outside forces.
Now on to blocking. This is similar to shielding however, it's done physically. Move so that there is something physical like a table, counter or even a pillar between you and the negative energy. This will allow you to make an escape or make the next two steps easier, charging and returning.
Charging is concentrate on lifting your energy level temporarily so you can return the energy of the negative person back toward them.
Controlling your energy is an important aspect of psychic self defense.
While you're learning to perfect your shield it's vital to use an amulet, which is a physical item that is enchanted specifically for the protection of the wearer. This has to be regularly charged and enchanted to stay working.
Thank you for reading and merry part!

The Goddess Brigid
Brigid (or Brighid/Brigit) is the daughter of the Dagda. Her two sisters were also called Brigid, and were associated with healing and crafts. The three Brigids were typically treated as three aspects of a single deity, making her a classic Celtic triple goddess.
Brigid is a Celtic Goddess of fire, metal-craft and poetry. She is called upon for inspiration, divination, creativity, healing and for manifesting.
In many Pagan traditions today, Brighid is celebrated with crafts that honor her role as the protector of the hearth. You can make a Brigid corn doll or Brigid's Cross, whose arms represent the place where a crossroads comes together, the space between light and dark.
Ritual: Brew a nourishing tea in a mug and Bless it by visualizing golden light filling the liquid and saying,
“Brighid, hear my prayer and bless the brew of tea. Renew my body, inspire my heart. Throughout my life, your wholeness impart. So mote it be.”
Brighid can aid you in any endeavour you wish to undertake. Call on her for assistance in fire magic, crafting, inspiration, animal magic, fertility, healing, and childbirth.
Themes: Health and inspiration. Symbols: Brighid’s Cross and cauldron.
