Whump idea of the day:

Magical restraints - that is, shackles locked not with a key, but with magic. Forged from the strongest of materials, charmed to be unbreakable by brute force. A spell is the only way to remove them.

A captive being rescued by someone unable to use magic. They can be carried to safety, but their shackles remain locked. They must remain in chains even after rescue, until someone with magic can free them. Still limited in motion, still dependent, still not quite free.

Or worse, the rescue failing, because the chains are connected to something - the wall, the floor, a weight. The rescuers swearing they'll come back, that they'll find someone with magic who can help. Trying to comfort the captive as best they can, but ultimately forced to leave them alone - or else risk their own capture.

Or maybe, the captor is the only one who can use the spell to unlock the restraints. The captive - or their rescuers - having no choice but to bargain for their freedom.

Waking up after an experiment, seeing bloodied instruments and wondering groggily what terrible thing whumper could have done to them now

Learning to damage their own body to foil whumper's plans

Whumpee becoming desensitized to whumper's drugs and needing higher and higher doses for them to work

No longer recognizing their own body after recovering from whumper's last experiment

Whumper leading lab rat whumpee to a mirror, after intentionally keeping them away, and letting them see how pathetic they've become

Or, whumpee looking in a mirror and realizing that whumper has turned them into a monster

Whumpee deciding that it's too late for them and they might as well embrace what they've become

I just love the idea of a team, whether they be heroes or something else, being kidnapped by their antagonist and brainwashed to believe that’s their friend/leader/companion/owner. I love it sooo much when they’re brains are flipped upside down to just utterly love and adore this person they used to fight brutally against, believing the team is now meant operates under them.

I love it even more if one Whumpee doesn’t succumb as easily as the rest, and is actively trying to undo it and save their team as well as themself as the brainwashing takes a gradual hold on them :3

I’d also just eat it up if the team was slowly reduced to the whumpers beloved and adoring little pets…
