So this video has been shared around Tumblr without context. For those who can’t be bothered to click through or watch, here’s the tea.

Some of your favorite Eurovision YouTubers and analysts have come together to protest the EBU’s decisions regarding Israel’s participation in Eurovision not by asking folks to boycott or petition performers to withdraw, but to donate to a fundraiser benefiting Doctors Without Borders USA and their efforts to assist the embattled residents of the Gaza Strip.

This fundraiser was put together by the couple running the Novympia channel, and all persons in this video have posted it to theirs, along with the link to the fundraiser. I have already donated via Alesia Michelle‘s channel, but you can pick your favorite among these YouTubers and donate there.

This, in my opinion, is a way better use of one’s time and resources than trying to threaten, bully and harass performers off of Eurovision through petitions, flyers with their faces on them and DMs. Even the Israeli one.

Just saying.

Hey, y'all. Considering this is going into all the tags, some of you may have interacted with me on here, some of you may not, but regardless, I would appreciate your help.

I am in the process of writing my master's thesis, and I am doing a research on the topic. The topic being "The perception of Eurovision among young people-the music event in the context of entertainment and politics". Now, I very much know this is a very touchy topic right now. I also know many of you will be boycotting ESC this year, and this questionnaire is absolutely not here to discourage that. In fact, I am outright asking if you are boycotting ESC this year, because I think that's important for the research I'm doing.

Also, regarding the age, due to the ethical aspect, unfortunately only people who are 18+ can participate, as per my mentor's advice. Also please don't let "young people" discourage you from filling out the questionnaire, it was another recommendation I got due to the fact this website is primarily used by people 18-35, but if you are older, I'd still absolutely appreciate your input.

I don't usually asks for reblogs, but I'd appreciate it a lot if you could also reblog this because the bigger the sample, the better it's considered.

Can someone explain to a clueless non-Swede: why are people so mad over Marcus and Martinus being Norwegian? It's not uncommon that Eurovision representatives have mixed/foreign background. Is it specifically a Melfest thing?

#I honestly have no idea #I just find it hilarious #maybe something about a song in Swedish being beaten by an English one makes the performers also being foreign particularly annoying?#especially when esc will be held in Malmö #but that doesn't make much sense to me either so idk #I never take the sibling rivalry between the Scandinavian countries that seriously #but maybe others do #and our main one is with Denmark anyway so like #I'm as lost as you are tbh
