Hey, I hope you’re having a good day/night!!
I was curious if we could learn a bit more about Janet? I know that we probably should hate her, but I can’t help but being sympathetic towards her. Being an assistant is already stressful, so having a sassy boss definitely isn’t making her life easier.
Of course, only if you want to share!!
Thank you!
Very understandable that people would feel bad for Janet. But she wasn’t always an overworked assistant.
She was Welcome Home’s first director
Tumblr media
She wasn’t too fond of the fact that she was stuck working on kids shows. And she especially didn’t like Wally in particular, she didn’t like how easy he got a job as a co-director for his own show. Don’t know if it’s because he’s a puppet or not but she does mostly hate him and ignores the others .
Tumblr media
She tried sabotaging the show on a few other occasions but nothing that would stop production.
Until Janet went as far as to destroy the set.
Tumblr media
Everything was broken and damaged. Props were broken, mural panels were painted over, and a lot of equipment was destroyed.
Tumblr media
Upon discovery, Wally made the mistake of entering first, unsteady prop walls came down and almost crushed him.
It was obvious who had done it, Janet wasn’t exactly subtle with her dislike of Wally( she also completely forgot the existence of security cameras). The producer didn’t like that and she was almost fired but Wally made a proposition.
She either gets kicked out of the industry or accept a job as Wally’s assistant.
Janet, obviously not wanting to get banned from her line of work, accepts the offer. And as generous as the offer sounded, Wally didn’t do it with the kindness of his heart, he planned to make her job a living hell for almost killing him that day.
Anyway lesson of the story, don’t be like Janet. Use your brain and refrain from almost accidentally killing your coworkers
If you see mistakes, no you don’t 💕
All art for this post was by @artsybug0 😘🫶
Thank them because I wasn’t going to draw anything of this in the first place As you can tell by all my blank background art, I hate drawing scenery so much

Ok, this is semi-crack but if Hoyo decided to make the bad guys Russian I'm allowed to invoke Slavic symbolism.
In East Slavic cultures the hearth used to be associated with meanings you normally attach to the netherworld.
(no one really thinks like this anymore, of course, and most city dwellers never encounter a proper hearth in their lives, but it's still there in fairy tale imagery and sometimes in language and the metaphors we use for things)
I actually don't know what the correct translation is. Oven? Fireplace? The thing is HUGE, incredibly ugly and also building one is an art (it's supposed to distribute heat in a very specific way). We do not spread this symbolism to Western fireplaces or fire in general.
It's a bit chthonic and associated with everything pagan and unclean (ritually and literally. the soot).
Very far from the cozy "sitting near a fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate", it's a place where Real Stuff Happens and most real stuff in this world is messy and unpleasant.
But also only because of it a home can be called a home. It's the heart of the house.
In superstitions it's home to a friendly fae househelper (the little dude lives behind it) and in fairy tales it's sometimes an entry point for minor demons (I don't remember if they get through the chimney or through the fire itself).
Then in other fairy tales there's Baba Yaga, The Evil Witch, who is also probably an aspect of a forgotten goddess of death (as in many other places, Christianity weeded out Slavic myths to the point of near disappearance and fairy tales were a form in which some of those survived). This lovely lady occasionaly cooks adventurers in the oven/hearth as a part of their rebirth process. Occasionally she just cooks and eats them. Folks with good work ethics are usually safe (in most tales they offer to perform some work for her in exchange for help or simply for not being eaten).
Baba Yaga, as far as I know, is somewhat recognized by the English-speaking pagan community, they interpret her as yet another name for the Crone face of the Triple Goddess (the archetype on which Hoyo likely relied when writing the Moon Sisters).
(do you see the fire and moon connection now?)
I'm surprised how well it fits a lot of Arle's themes. A fire that is otherwoldly and demonic and associated with rebirth and an almost-forgotten goddess of death and moon, but also it's just fire in a hearth, something to warm your house with.
This was probably not Hoyo authors' thought process and they just thought of rebirth, destruction and tamed fire.
But the author is dead and the hearth means what it means, and if you dig into humans' relationship with fire long enough you end with this sort of symbolism anyway, so I declare this angle valid.

In keeping with my recommendation of Cruel Beauty, an actual good YA book, instead of 🔥hotfire garbage🔥, aka Acotar, I thought I'd recommend another favourite of mine.
So, this time, I'm going to give an alternative recommendation to Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. This post is definitely not inspired by the release of Iron Flame.
Instead please try:
Fireborne by Rosaria Munda❤️‍🔥
This recommendation is especially for anyone who fell for the advertising when FW first came out, and it was sold as a YA adjacent military dragon fantasy with a slow burn romance.
So if that sounds interesting to you and you want to read an actually well written story, go check out Fireborne.
Fireborne is a YA fantasy, the 1st book of the Aurelian Cycle (a completed trilogy).
It follows its two main characters in a military academy through their training to become dragon riders.
I personally have pitched this series to irl friends as a genderswapped Anastasia (animated movie) with dragons.
The story takes place right after a big revolution. The people overthrew the dragon riding aristocracy.
Our main characters meet up in an orphanage, where they grow up together and end up joining the military academy to become dragon riders.
A lot of the story revolves around the questions that come up when a newly formed government is put through crisis.
All seen through the eyes of the protagonists, who as teenagers are old enough to know what life was like before the revolution, but young enough to have grown up in the new system.
The story does a great job of dealing with the struggles that come with uprooting old deeply ingrained systems of oppression while trying to build a newer fairer system.
The dragons are an integral part of this theme. Unlike FW, in which magical abilities and creatures are added without regard for how they might impact the world or themes, in Fireborne, the dragons are the embodiment of political and military power.
When the aristocracy ruled their oppressive regime, they were the only ones allowed to own and ride dragons. After their fall, the new regime allowed regular people the opportunity to become riders.
However, the number of dragons is still limited, and the new regime, comprised of former revolutionary leaders, want to keep the new riders under their control.
So, in the end, they still come up with a system that allows for abuse and oppression because access to power remains restricted to a chosen few, the dragon riders and those who control them, the newly established government.
These themes make for really complicated and nuanced conflicts without easy solutions. The sequels make a great job with further expanding on these themes.
The military elements also all make sense in this series, and they employ logical means to train their most valuable military assets, their dragon riders unlike FW.
It also features one of my favourite slow burn romances (at least in YA), the relationship has actually depth and tension, while also providing believable reasons why the characters can't just get together.
I'm actually really salty that Fourth Wing took off practically overnight, while Fireborne has been out for ages and has consistently remained underhyped. But I guess it isn’t spicy... 😒
So, for anyone who picked FW up without realising that it is actually just a very trashy smutty romance mascarading as a high fantasy, I highly recommend reading Fireborne which comes with the added perk of not being written by a known zionist.

I was thinking of the Rhysand and Nesta dynamic and how I would not hate Rhysand so much if it was just done so much infinitely better. So with that if you are absolutely pro rhysand, absolutely pro SJM, here-for-the-fun, just click away, block me, filter, do what you want. Other than that here we go.
So I feel like I understand the read between the lines, kind of relationship were supposed to see between Rhysand’s dislike of Nesta, as in we can read between the lines that Rhysand can’t stand her because of her tendency to resort to insults (which I find personally questionable with the actual material vs what sjm has to blatantly tell the reader left and right and that’s not even considering the retcons but that’s another topic) especially in regard to those that he loves. Him being merely tolerant of her because he’s defensive for those he loves, like Cassian for example, who has been fighting against words like bastard since birth and Mor being from the Hewn city where they are abusive and she is apparently the only good person there (another sjm writing critique but whatever).
So onto what I think Nesta disliking Rhysand should have been portrayed as in acosf.
Let me remind everyone that at this point every single character has dirt on them, every single one has done questionable things, and so I think that a good way to balance this sort of moral compass that we have going on, with Rhysand disliking Nesta for these reasons above, I would’ve liked to see Nesta point out or atleast in the same read between the lines fashion assert her annoyance/defense and insults, specifically towards Rhysand— Since that is what we got is, that it is her way of protecting herself, to insult before she could be insulted which can manifest as cold and calculating— for her to recognize that cold calculating attitude Rhysand has. Albeit not for the same reasons or in the same way Nesta’s barbs are but in his decisions and actions because Rhsyand has that. I’m not open to hearing people say ‘but Rhysand only did this because of that’— let’s not take away the morally gray aspects of a character. Much in the way that Nesta’s defenses aren’t excusable because of trauma the topic here is that Rhsyand has done/does questionable things regardless of reason. Back to the topic, Rhysand has shown to have cold, calculating tendencies yet all SJM let Nesta tell the reader about him— ‘Rhysand might be an arrogant, vain bastard, but he was honorable. He fought like hell to protect innocents. Her dislike of him had nothing to do with what he'd proved so many times: he was a fair, just ruler, who put his people before himself. No, she just found his personality-that slick smugness grating.’ the way that this line is the worst that Nesta ever really says about Rhysand in the entire book and even then its peppered with compliments that seem borderline absurd is so telling of the entire book. Not only that but Nesta encourages the reader throughout acosf that Rhysand has all the right to hate her and she’ll even go as far as say that she hates her self as well yet she doesn’t know how to fix that. That’s the whole point of acosf, right, that she’s healing and learning a better way to cope (much to my loathing). So personally I detest Rhsyands character in that book because Nesta could have given us so much of her own ‘redemption’ as well as touch on Rhysands flaws. Maybe even come to an understanding because of them. Because no Rhysand is not always morally correct but that book insisted on nothing but that. If anything that books served as a huge reminder of real life problems were the men get praised for doing the most basic, standard things that women have been doing all of their lives yet women do something that men do and are still crucified that’s not even considering being a woman w children. The mom works= she’s not present for her children. Mom doesn’t work= she’s just mooching off of the husband. The house unkept= the woman is lazy. It’s always the women that are questioned first/only. Nesta is calculating and cold but let’s not touch upon the 500 year old man’s actions and repercussions, matter of fact let’s flatter him and explain why he hates her. Absolutely hate that and therefore I cannot stand his character. Just butchered. And that’s without touching the infamous pregnancy plot line

The Hyuga clan stuff makes no sense.
Ko Hyuga is apparently a main branch member, but Hizashi, Hiashis twin brother and therefore the son of the former clan head, is not. You are telling me that the twin brother of current clan head and child of former clan head is not, but this random Hyuga is?
By the traditions explained in the manga of the main branch/side branch we get during the Chunnin exams either Hinata or Hanabi should be sealed, depending on which one of them becomes the next clan head. And since Hinata was basically disowned it would most likely be her. And this all also basically implies that the only people who are a part of the main branch are former clan head, current clan head and their heir (the next clan head). But apparantly not because Ko Hyuga.
The Hyuga clan just needed so much more focus and development to make this all make sense. And like I have seen people try and makes sense of this with explanations like Hiashi and Hizashi were twins or the treatment of men and women being different. And like this is interesting, but it’s just assumptions, nothing of this is actually established in the text and it doesn’t help with making sense of the whole situation since it’s not established canon. We don’t know what Kishimoto was thinking, and most likely he wasn’t. And like considering Kishimotos track record with the story it’s probably just unintentionally inconsistent like with most things in Naruto.
Sorry, for ranting. The Hyuga clan just derserved so much better and I think it’s one of the biggest examples of wasted potential in the manga. Like theres just so much potential for different plotlines and interesting characters and we just got nothing.

TW// Suicidal thoughts, mental exhaustion, lack of self worth
Doubt anyone's gonna see this but fuck it i might as well drop this in here
I'm so tired
I'm 15 years old male in 10th grade and i'm just so tired of everything. Tired of doing so much and putting in all the effort i can only to be criticized at the slightest mistake, tired of always trying so hard to be nice to others yet only being noticed when i'm rude or doing something bad or embarrassing, tired of this garbage world filled with wars, pollution, genocide, hunger, poverty, discrimination, disease, etc.
I feel like i'm losing more and more motivation with each and every single day that passes, beit for doing things i like, things i don't like, things i have to do, etc. I'm not particularly angry or sad or scared or frustrated, i guess i'm a little melancholic but overall i'm just exhausted, numb, and, most of all, bitter.
I still feel some amount of joy, but it feels so vain and empty. I eat something delicious, i listen to some music, i watch something funny on YouTube, on TV, etc., then i go right back to my misery. I just want someone to hear me calling for help. I just want to feel like someone actually gives a flying fuck about what i have to say, or wants me to feel better, or even just cares about my existence at all.
I don't even know anymore man. I'm just running out of options. I'm probably just experiencing burnout, which coupled with the fact i live in what is essentially a small village in the middle of nowhere, really just makes me feel hopeless.
Fuck this shit, man.

Can we just talk about how The Dream SMP is literally just Nightvale at this point?
An otherworldly place where weird shit happens and it’s completely considered normal among its residents. Said place probably having a portal to some desert otherworld (YES IM TALKING ABOUT UTAH IN THAT WILBUR FINALE) A colorful cast of characters that isn’t entirely comprised of humans, yet not really considered “weird” by anyone. Eldritch abominations literally everywhere. A tyrannical government
Trying to make sense out of anything will end up being ultimately futile because everything is weird and wonky and that’s the point because it’s funny and that’s just how their respective worlds work so we really just shouldn’t think about these things too hard…
I mean… WILBUR F*CKED A FISH AND HAD A FOX SON, THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING NIGHTVALE WOULD 100% DO.
