Vialism is About Social Media
I have a lot to say on this topic, so try to stick with me here. I know some of this is stuff we have already acknowledged and agreed upon, but I’m trying to get it all in one place so it forms a cohesive theory! Just as a disclaimer, this is obviously just my interpretation and you’re more than welcome to see it differently. Please don’t repost this theory anywhere unless you directly link my tumblr, and I’d prefer if you got my permission if it’s anywhere other than twitter.

I had distanced myself when MCR broke up so it didnt hurt as much, but it also wasnt a surprise to me, since they'd been quiet for a while. I guess i took comfort in the fact that all the members are still living their lives happily, and you could find updates on then anytime. They're people i loved who made us some incredible gifts that made people feel fulfilled and happy... so I can't be mad that they shut down the workshop- because the people are still there and the gofts are still there.
I don't want to jinx anything, but if Tyler vowing to never "go dark" on social media again tells me anything, it's that making music and engaging with fans is EVERYTHING to Josh and Tyler. MCR lost that sense of joy and thats valid, but now they're doing other thigs that bring them joy. Tyler and Josh clearly find a lot of joy in music still, but if there comes a day that they don't, its not like they're abandoning us. 💛
I'm scared that this safe place i surrounded myself in will crumble down when tøp stops making music. I don't know what to do or where to go when that happens. I know this is a selfish way of thinking things, but I just can't help it.
Oh man… I can’t say I’ve spent too much time worrying about that but the thought has crossed my mind. My first thought is to consult people who were in the MCR fandom like @teeentyonepilots and @whatiserin2 and @edyluewho ? I know they all found a new community here but I’m sure it was that same kind of feeling when that community changed. I have never personally been through an experience like that so I’m afraid the best comfort I can offer is that I hope … we can all stay friends.

What Does Folina Sahlo Mean?
Today Tyler was asked about the elusive phrase, Folina Sahlo in a reddit AMA. He said “it's what we cry out in TRENCH when we are in need.” I had a few theories going - maybe an anagram, maybe something that makes more sense if sung in a round. After some screaming in three different chat rooms, here's what I've got:
If Folina Sahlo (or Sahlo Folina) is something you cry out in Trench, then it's “the sound you make when in between two places.”
When Tyler first sings the line, it's with his voice alone. He's just got done talking about his revelations about how the fire Dema is “heatless;” it lacks true substance and meaning (unlike the torches and campfires of the Banditos). His mind feels trapped like neon gas in a tube- gas which in nature always tries to expand, but can't here. He's also not sure whether he should fight his fears (over his revelations, over the thought of escaping, over himself?) or believe them, “but either way it helps to hear the words bounce off of you.” This brilliant line has 2 interpretations:
It's about us, the clique, singing his words back at him in concert. It helps him, provides some validation.
In Trench, it's a call for help, meant to be answered by any Bandito who hears it. It's a rally cry of support. If you yell it out, and get an answer, it means that you're not alone. Kind of like wolves howling.
The amazing part of this is that these two meanings converge- we are the Banditos. Tyler calls out to us and we sing back, telling him he's not alone.
The song illustrates this by transitioning from Tyler singing solo to be joined (first by Josh's drums, aww) and then by a growing chorus of other voices. The next time this musical theme is visited in the album is Leave the City, where it's done even more deliberation and build; Tyler sings “In Trench I'm not alone. These faces facing me they know... what I mean.”
Sahlo Folina isn’t a real phrase, it’s an echo of one. Even if it’s an anagram or a word in Somali, what it MEANS doesn't matter. It's the fact that Tyler calls, and the Banditos answer. WE answer.
I know, it’s a kitchen sink thing, I’m sorry! But if you’re not satisfied, please just imagine Tyler singing Folina Sahlo for their live show, and us, who also find ourselves in between two places, echoing it back.

100 McShep Moments - 1.17: Letters from Pegasus
Tumblr media
MCKAY So just make sure mine’s last, and that way, if it gets cut off, fine, but if the gate holds the connection a few extra milliseconds, then we won’t have wasted the time.
Tumblr media
MCKAY Lieutenant Ford is just finishing recording personal messages from all the team members. If you’d like—
SHEPPARD I’m good.
These scenes just broke my heart, because neither of them thinks that there’s anyone back home who’s going to want to hear from them. (And then in season three we find out that Jeannie never saw Rodney’s message, which means that it did get deleted, and my heart broke all over again.)

Masterpost: Canadian Women’s shelters and resources to donate or volunteer to:
Last month on the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre (in which 14 women in Quebec were murdered because they were women) I decided I wanted to ask my followers for places I could donate to in the future, to support women around issues of violence against women, homelessness, domestic abuse, etc.
This post is a culmination of all the responses I got to that original thread. All these places are based on recommendations. If you think any of them is problematic, let me know. If there are others I’ve missed, let me know. I can update this list in the future.
Especially as the #Metoo and #Timesup movements have emerged, I think its important to support women’s organizations like these.
