Every royal family has their story to explain why they’re special. The Westergaards’ tale is of a prince and the mermaid who loved him enough to give up the sea, and is all but regarded as a myth by the time the thirteenth prince is lost to the ocean. A decade later, a man claiming to be the lost prince Hans nearly steals the throne of Arendelle. Anna knocks him into the sea and loses track until a year later, when she is shipwrecked on her way to the new king’s coronation on the Southern Isles. A siren with flaming hair pulls a half-drowned royal from their ship, but it’s not quite love and it’s not quite first sight now. The tail is new, but Hans is much the same man Anna met except he won’t let her die now. They make it to the coronation, and when Hans decides to attend, they search for a way to break his curse and stay human. Amid the chaos of Queen Elsa’s reunion with her sister, the coronation ball, and dodging questions about Hans’ survival, they nearly manage it.
