adam parrish being just a little villain-coded is so fun to me. it never stops tickling me that the set-up WAS THERE for him to betray gansey in a worse version of the story — he was the rejected member of the love triangle, he was bitter about gansey's privilege, he's methodically ambitious about getting his in a dog-eat-dog world. in TRB, when he stole the camaro, ran off and killed whelk, that COULD'VE been the beginning of a villain arc.
but he loves his friends too much to let them go, and his friends love him too much to let him go. so he's their fucked-in-the-head sly friend who blackmails people with made-up child murder and scams rich harvard students with fake readings and pathologically lies like he breathes <3 something so wrong with him but he's a good guy <3

Fandom Hivemind
I know this isn't true. Fandom doesn't share a brain. It's different people sharing different opinions and ideas.
But sometimes it feels like it, and it's hard to separate the contradiction of it all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fandom: we want happy endings for gays! No more burying your gays! No more gays always have to be political. We just want gays falling in love!
Fandom: WTF is this happy ending shit! It's unrealistic!
Fandom: I hate this happy ending! It's too fairytale.
Fandom: Is obsessed with a show about a prince who goes to a boarding school and falls in love with a commoner.
Fandom: We love this show for its realistic portrayal of how teenagers look!
Fandom: But it's unrealistic that Felica would be the cool girl! She's not 'perfect' enough.
Fandom: All I want is a happy ending for Wilmon.
Fandom: NOT THAT HAPPY ENDING!
Fandom: They're not giving us enough promo content! More. More. More. More. More.
Fandom: OMG, too much! You're ruining things.
Fandom: I love this show about consent and respecting people's privacy. And the meta about people's unhealthy parasocial relationships.
Fandom: Who is Edvin dating? Look at these photos of Omar that I found in a friend of a friend's account! I hear Edvin's in France! Fans go find them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a reminder to me or anyone who struggles with this that Fandom is NOT a hivemind. Contridcactory opinions exist because different people are expressing them.
I struggle with that. Sometimes, though, it's because people want you to believe it's everyone who feels that way.
Don't assume everyone feels the same way you do. It's so annoying when someone says, 'Fans hated the ending!' or 'Everyone loved the ending!' No. You feel that way about the ending. Maybe your * echo chamber * feels that way. Maybe some of your friends agree with you because they don't like conflict, but secretly, they hate/love it.
And, most of all, remember that when you express your opinions in a public space—and especially when you imply that your opinion is universal or imply that it's a fact—you will have people disagree with you. Learn to tell the difference between a disagreement and an attack. Or learn not to state things as facts that you can't support.
And most of all, please don't ask "What do you all think?" And then get salty because people don't agree with you.

The most realistic thing in Young Royals is the ending. I fully believe that someone would give up the throne of Sweden and leave it in the hands of a toxic fool just to be able to stare into Omar Rudberg’s eyes.

I've heard from some readers that they often get anxiety about leaving comments. I want you to know that most authors, like 99.9%, are thrilled over any positive comment. There is no wrong answer.
But I also love kudos too!
Just please, thank the author in some way.
I want to send some love to everyone who comments on fics and lets the author know that a fic has touched them in some way.
Brains are funny things. On most days I write fics for selfish reasons. Because writing makes me happy and I write myself exactly the story that I want to read. I don't write to get comments or make others happy. That's just a very big and the loveliest cherry on top.
On some days, though, it feels like I'm not worth the trouble. And on those days going through comments really helps to remind me that it's not just me. That my stories do mean something to other people, too.
So thank you. I hope you know that you're making a difference.
💜

I have to laugh about this. That Netflix post, asking people who they would invite to dinner had an overwhelming amount of comments saying they would invite Vincent.
lolololol Most of fandom can’t even handle asking somebody a simple question so they go anon. Debates and discussions are nearly impossible because people interpret being disagreed with as aggression. And cry that they’re being bullied.
90% of the people, who said Vincent, would piss their pants and quiver in fear if ever faced with someone like that.
You can’t handle online interactions and you’re going to handle Vincent. 😂

I really want to write a Wilmon AU sort of based on Ladyhawke but showing more of what leads up to the curse.
For you youngs, who don't know that movie. It's a glorious 1985 fantasy romance that was also my bisexual awakening. lol
I mean look at them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway... the music did NOT age well at all. It expired before the movie even hit the cinemas. I truly believe that's the reason why it was a box failure. And also it didn't have any mainstream big names at the time. This was a 'before they hit it big' production.
But the lore and the romance are what made it a cult classic.
Cursed because of their love by an evil Bishop. She's a hawk by day, while he's human. He's a wolf by night, while she's human. 🤌

A few thoughts here...
The world is fucking trash. The outlook is grim. Let people enjoy things and find happiness in fictional stories.
There is a strong bias in judging fiction. If it's anything that's not happy - sad, depressing, violent - than it's better and smarter. Happy endings and hopeful endings are dumb, silly, and shallow.
That's why you hardly ever see comedies/fantasy/romances in the "best" categories in awards.
If it's cynical, then it's smart. The more realistic, the better. It has to be gritty to be important!
Fuck. That. It's bullshit. it's been said before, "It's harder to make people laugh than to cry."
There's a place for both sorts of story-telling. One is not more intelligent or artsy than the other.
Good writing can have fantastical situations but have the characters react in a realistic human way. We can justify their actions even if the situation is implausible or impossible in real life. Humans can't fly! But what if someday everyone woke up with wings? How would everyone react?
Stories shouldn't only reflect the reality of who 'we' are, but also who 'we' want to be or who 'we' wish we were.
I don’t really understand so many people being caught up on the “realism” of yr ending or wilmon’s relationship. its a show, its not real life. its fictional. literally anything could happen bc its literally NOT real! 😭 and even if it was real why does endings have to be sad to be realistic? not all of real life is miserable, love does exist and good things do happen. 🤷‍♀️

Keep the Young Royals fandom alive and thriving!
YOUNG ROYALS EVENTS
Tumblr media
The show has ended but our love for Young Royals did not. This is why we decided to create this blog, to host events for the Young Royals fandom so that we can continue spreading our love for this show.
Events are for everyone, not only for fanfic writers. We want everyone to feel included in those events. So fanartist, gif makers, edits maker, please feel welcome in the events we will host in the future as we wish to feel all the art forms in our upcoming events.
Also, this account is not to overshadow other events in the fandom, but to create new ones. We hope, with those events, that everyone feels encouraged to continue creating for this show that changed our lives.
Stay tuned for some news that will be coming soon!

When will Wilhelm renounce his right of succession to the throne, and does he have the power to decide that for himself?
Tumblr media
First of all, the court is the employees of the queen. The court will never do anything she disproves of, that would be gross neglect and could lead to losing the job.
It doesn't matter what the court wants. What matters is what the queen wants. And that doesn't matter either, because Wille calls the shots now. He has told her what he wants, and that he won't change his mind. He can announce whatever he wants whenever he wants. If she tries to manipulate him again, she risks losing what's left of her relationship with Wille. And judging by her behaviour, she doesn't want that.
I can't imagine Wille wanting to wait as much as a second with renouncing his right of succession. Not after s3. And no one can force him to wait either. Judging by the Wille we've seen, he'll just keep repeating what he wants, and then the queen will make sure that the necessary legal steps are taken in advance.
If not, he has plenty leverage - he could announce it himself any time he wants to.
Who will be the next head of state?
Nothing in the ending made it certain that August will be the new crown prince. The court's opinions are irrelevant. It's even left open whether queen Kristina's opinions matter.
One option is that the queen abdicates before Augst is made heir. That's what Wille meant when he said in the car that if she believed in the monarchy, then that (August) is her heir. If she abdicates, it means it would be up to the parliament to decide.
She may choose to abdicate for Wille's sake. To place the burden of the media attention on herself, instead of on Wille and Simon. This would be the mature parenting choice.
Regardless of what Kristina's chooses, Sara or Felice could spill the tea on August posting the video. They're not bound by any settlement. It wouldn't look good for the queen, and even worse for August. In addition to the allegations, it would look like August tried to replace his second cousin. And that the queen approved.
A small caveat here - a settlement could mean that Sweden's insane defamation laws would make it a criminal offence to share the info about August, especially if there isn't another court case.
The info could be leaked anonymously though. And any such scandals would look bad for the queen.
All together, it could cause a scandal so massive that the parliament could end up having to reject August altogether.
The parliament could even abolish the whole monarchy.
Even August himself could end up rejecting the title. The seeds of that are sown, with the therapy session, with the comments from Nils and Vincent, his eating disorder and drug addiction, and the lessons from his relationship with Sara. It's not a given that he'll choose to keep a title at all. If he's stuck with it, it will be a punishment, and if he rejects it, it's a sign of massive emotional growth, which good for him.
The end of Young Royals left us with more options than Crown Prince August, and I really love that! Wilmon endgame, so many possibilities for everything else!
I hope that after season 3 we're able to at least imagine the end of a system that hurts everyone in it.

Better be a loser and even a coward than a backstabbing snake who sells her brother for a room and is able to sleep with a porn offender. So proud to be Stella and Frederika looool
Well, good for you for admitting that you are a) too dumb to understand the show, b) an ableist, c) a misogynist, or d) all of the above, but you can relate to the mean girls who were dumb, vapid, shallow, and bad friends.
And I'm done with responding to your cowardly ass until you grow a spine and send an ask that isn't anon. But please keep sending them. I'll just keep sharing them with everyone to laugh at you.

When it comes to Sara, some of you all think you're a Felice, but you're really a Stella or Fredrika.
