Alex’s eyes widened at Sapphire’s reaction and she tried to brush it off with a wave of her hand. “Oh my god, Saph, it’s fine! It’s like every fifteen minutes or something, but it’s just the same as-…” Her words were cut off by Jesse tumbling on to the scene. “Jesus Christ…” Alex lifted a hand to her forehead, fully aware of the eyes already on them. On her. This baby was just determined to attend a Logan Hunter party. “Alright fine. Fine! Let’s go before Jesse breaks a leg or a vase.” She grabbed a mini quiche from her plate before standing and shoved it into her mouth.

Jesse knew instantly from the first 'JESSE!' just what was going on and he was on it. Ever since the Braxton Hicks bonfire bash scare, he'd had an emergency bag with him at all times (two if you counted the one in the car). He was designated driver, he was so ready for this! Except for... ohmygod, they were having a baby!! "I'm here! I'm here, I'm--," and just like that, he'd tumbled over his own feet and the strap of the to-go bag, hitting the floor. But then just as fast, he was up! He was good! "I'm good. It's go time, I've got the keys. Alex-- do you need me to carry you?" @a-lexvandervort
Alex swallowed a tartlet and opened her mouth to reply, but was cut off by a dull ache in her lower abdomen. Her body tensed and her hand slammed on to the table in front of her. No, she wasn’t doing this again. She wasn’t causing a scene at another Logan Hunter party over stupid little Braxton Hicks contractions. “Sorry, um…” She refocused on Sapphire, releasing a small laugh. “I’m good. Hungry, but…” She noticed the look on Sapphire’s face and waved a hand. “Oh don’t worry about that. They’ve been happening for the past hour, I’m fine. How are you?”

Jason loved his little brother, he did. But Jesse had this annoying habit of assuming he knew what was best for other people, and not letting them decide for themselves. It was something Jase knew he did with the best of intentions, but it had a noticeable pattern of backfiring.
Like when his brother had inadvertently broken up Dean and Rose. Jason had accidentally let that information slip to his brother, but he hadn’t expected Jesse to just keep it to himself and not confront them, although in hindsight he should have known that was exactly what his conflict avoidant brother would do.
And now here they were again, with Jesse keeping information to himself to avoid conflict, only for that information to come out and cause conflict anyway. Jason could already feel the telltale throb of a headache building up behind his eyes as he fought to keep his tone and expression neutral.
“Would you tell me the truth if I did?”

Jesse was almost quick to defend himself. Of course he would tell him the truth but words and actions were two different things. He knew that. While Jesse may have had the best intentions, it was clear to him now what he did was wrong. In fact, a part of him had known it was wrong the second he told his dad- their dad- to go. And yes, yes, their dad had caused a lot of damage in this family. Their dad had broken their mom’s heart. Their dad had broken Jason’s heart. Their dad had... Well, you can figure the rest.
But Jesse shouldn’t have lied. Jason was right to ask even if it stung and Jesse felt rightfully ashamed that he’d brought them into this mess. Maybe he was just like their dad in that way... He shook the thought off.
“Yes,” he answered at last, taking a deep breath. “Yeah, I would. I--,” he looked away but only for a second-
“He was just some guy, at first. Hanging around. He ran into Alex at one point too, really casual, you know? When I saw him in person I- I thought no way, it couldn’t be. It couldn’t. But it was. I know it was wrong and I am so sorry that I kept it a secret, Jase. I was just... I was standing right in front of him and all I could think about was mom. And you. All I could think about was how much he hurt everyone by leaving and even though he’d been long gone, even though he’d missed---,” Jesse faltered, clearing his throat-
“Missed everything, it hurt all over again. He wasn’t a memory, he wasn’t an idea or a fantasy, he was just some guy. Right there in front of me and when he started talking I just-... I just couldn’t take it.”

The respite from Gossip Girl’s relentless pursuit of what she would probably call the truth had been good for Jason. He’d found a job through a friend of a friend’s brother managing a trendy boutique art gallery in SoHo the owner of which was currently planning to expand to other locations as business boomed thanks to the artists Jason had convinced to show their works with them, he had moved out of home again into what some would probably call a glorified shoe box in Mid Town. He’d even started dating again in an attempt to move on from Scarlett. Things had been going pretty well.
Until Logan’s annual Bonfire Bash ushered in the return of Gossip Girl and the news that his father had seen and spoken to his brother and Jesse hadn’t said a word. Jason knew his brother was staying with his mom, so he’d made every effort to avoid coming over, unsure how to feel about his brother lying to him.
But he was weak, at least when it came to his mom, as half a dozen pleading text messages with various sad faced emoji’s had finally broken him. So here he was, standing in the doorway of the family home, face to face with Jesse who if he wasn’t mistaken had just swallowed a bite of sandwich whole. He’d promised his mom he would be civil.
“Jesse.”

Jesse. It gave both everything and nothing away at the same time. To his credit, Jase hadn’t immediately started swinging punches and accusations. His brother had cleaned up his life a lot in the past couple of years, you know? Cool job, cool place. He seemed happy. But Jesse knew that he’d been avoiding him. If it weren’t for their mom and the power of the emoji, Jason would still be dodging him fifty years down the line.
Which was fair enough.
Had Jesse meant to keep this bombshell to himself? No. Well, not at first. He let himself get in his head about it, let the ‘hero complex’ take over and made the mistake of thinking he knew better. That he would be protecting his mom and Jason. What they didn’t know couldn’t hurt them, right? It made Sophia’s secrets hit that much harder too...
He had set down the sandwich he’d taken a bite out off. Man, this was gonna suck. Jesse looked at him briefly but then he looked away. Coward.
“Are you going to ask?”

Had Jesse been avoiding his big brother since the bonfire bash (now there’s alotta b’s!)? Yes, yes he had. Of course he’d been preoccupied with Sophia- with his marriage- but that wasn’t the only reason. The thing was, it was true. Jesse had a run in with their infamous, elusive, father and he’d told him to scram. And then he’d kept it a secret. It had been foolish, of course it had, thinking it would never come to light.
It shouldn’t have happened like this though. Not because of frickin’ Gossip Girl.
The door opened to his mom’s house while he was just about to bite into a sandwich. There was nowhere to run. Jesse swallowed his pride along with the sandwich knowing this was gonna hurt when it came out again. Straight from the horse’s mouth.

Veronica had to laugh at that. So she had been missed, huh? She had crossed paths with Jules who, had been calling her a snake and well she had deserved that much. It was good however to spend time with people who actually did enjoy her company. She wasn’t going to wait for sourpuss to get around and forgive her - she simply didn’t have the time to care.
Secrets… ”Ha…” She said as she played with her hair, so gossip girl was back - but gossip girl couldn’t know about her secret, the one she’d been carrying for nine months - she had been gone from this town. No one knew, and no one was gonna know.

Jesse never would have pried about anyone’s secrets so Roni was no exception. He felt a flash of riotous fury at the idea that all his friends were in trouble again. That ‘Gossip Girl’ was once again prodding and poking them, wishing them all to be their worst selves. And he felt guilty too ‘cause he’d pissed her off so much to begin with.
“Hey, don’t worry about it, okay?” He stood a little taller, finding some hope in his own words. “We got rid of ‘Gossip Girl’ once and we can do it again.”
Jesse smiled in response, “Thanks, Roni. I don’t know how good I’d be at putting it on so you might see me in giant, novelty sunglasses while I figure it out. So, what exciting ventures have ya got lined up for today?”

Baby giggled at the idea, pillow fights reminded her of Sophia - they were the bestest of friends, and they had quite a history with each other, perhaps that is why she ended up falling in love with her - perhaps that is why Parker’s breakup didn’t hurt her as much as she thought it would.
“You don’t say~” She was all cheerful and happy till the buzz of her phone. When she read the post she looked at Jesse with disbelief. That was a lot to untangle but what got to her was the fact that the rumored couple that got married was standing in front of her - at least one of them was.
Her hand formed into a fist and in her drunken haze she wanted to do one thing. She swung it, and hit Jesse hard into his nose - she could’ve cared less if she ended up breaking it.
“Drop Dead Jesse!”

In no world could Jesse had guessed what was about to happen as he stood, grinning like a fool, waiting for Baby to respond. Okay, so he knew that the news of the secret Vanderwalker wedding hadn’t quite been released yet but Jesse knew Soph would rather be the one to tell Baby. Neither of them wished for ‘Gossip Girl’ to be the one spill it. It might as well have happened in slow motion. Jesse knew in his heart of hearts- in his gut- what Baby was reading when her phone buzzed. Who she was reading...
He knew in that moment that there was no more denying it. No matter how hard they’d tried, Gossip Girl was back.
And then POW! Right in the kisser!
“Wh- What the---,” he stumbled, stunned, his shoe laces getting tangled as he fell onto the sand. He could only stare in shock. What the heck was happening tonight?

I think maybe we need a little more like a secret twin or an ex-husband to show up.” Juliette liked talking to Jesse again, she had been a bad friend to him but here he was still being nice to her. “Right before he told me he had a date. Well not all of us are friends with our exes. He’s been avoiding me for almost two years, we go to the same school.” They all knew how perfect Jesse and Soph were, it only made sense that they would end up together sooner rather than later. She smiled up at him. “I’m sorry for being the worst friend ever. I want to try to be better, I promise.”
“That would be real drama, huh? Basically a real life episode of ‘Friday Night Bites’ without all the vampires. Well, depending on who you ask,” he joked. This was easy to fall back into, right? He had missed her (he’d missed her so much). Jesse didn’t have to dwell on the past or his hurt feelings, right? They could get right back to way things used to be, he was sure of it! And he was just fine. Even if her promises to be better friend chipped at his resolve... “Okay, fair dig. If it helps, I think Rose still feels awkward around me sometimes. I’d never play devil’s advocate but why did he tell you he had a date? Y’know?” He raised his eyebrows at her. Avoiding people-- they were a match made (okay, shut up Bitter Betty). “It’s okay, Jules. You’re here now and you’re trying, I know that.”

Jesse, friend of Jules - heck once upon a time she might have liked Jesse enough to be friends with him as well, but when she found her heart flutter around Sam - well - she just took what she wanted because that was her character. She never intentionally hurt Jules, it was simply that she fell for the same guy Jules did. Was it wrong to steal Sam from her, yes. Was it wrong to not tell Sam about Melody. Yes.
“Today.” She said with a smile, suppressing all the unpleasant feelings that started to bottle up. No no, she was happy - she was fine. SHE was FINE.
“I hope no trouble in paradise?” She said, only slightly alarmed. “Is that a bruise?” Who did he upset?

“Well, welcome back! Place hasn’t been the same without you,” he smiled, deciding to shelf the Juliette related concerns for now. Who knew? Maybe this would be a whole new chance for everyone to get along. Then again, Jesse tended to live life on the bright side of life.
His smile faltered just a little at the question. “Ah, yeah, a little. We got ‘Gossip Girled’ at Logan Hunter’s beach party which kinda put an end to the fun. Don’t try to have secrets around here, right?” Jesse tried to keep his tone light but he’d hated what happened. It was one thing to make a blast about him but Sophia? As ever, that was too far.
“It is. Just me going for that ‘tough guy’ look,” he joked.
