No one tells you how scary becoming a mom is. The nights you stay up all night watching your child breath because you’re so scared they’ll stop. The non-stop crying for that first year because you’re so scared they might die because they’re so fragile and you’ve always been so clumsy. The days of staying in your room because if you expose them to the world outside of it they might not survive.

When I had my daughter the nurses pounded me with post partum pamphlets and stories. Stories about mothers who hurt their babies because they were overwhelmed or mothers who cut off their own hands because they were so afraid of hurting their babies, but they never once told me about the fear of the unknown. The unexpected sicknesses, other people’s intentions towards your child, the lack of trust within people you’ve trusted your whole life.

I think about those nights often, the panic attacks have become less often and I can breathe more but there are still times where those feelings come back and I don’t know what I’d do if anything happened to that tiny human I created.

Help needed!

Hey everyone. I sincerely apologize for this but I am in need of some help if anyone is able to offer any.

We have to pay $1700 to an exterminator for our house (our landlord doesn't cover this and the bugs got here because someone who isn't friends with us anymore gave them to us)

And today we woke up and our car won't start. Luckily my partner works from home but I can't even begin to try and think of working in the public again right now with us being without a car and because we have a little one with no child care.

I'm asking for $2000 simply to help us with the exterminator and to go towards getting a new (used) vehicle ASAP.

I don't think enough people realize how earnest drag is. People have this image of drag queens as saying "hehe I'm a man in a dress, isn't that funny," and sure some performers go for that schtick, but we're talking about people who take genuine comfort in being perceived as women, even if it's just in the context of a performance. If you are acquainted with any drag scene in any city, or hell even if you watch drag race, you'll know that many of the performers are trans, and many of the cis performers are visibly gender nonconforming on and off stage. Drag is an outlet for all the feminine expressions and creative impulses performers are told to suppress in their daily lives. People devote their lives to it, create luxury out of thrift finds and literal scraps, try to budget between looks and their next meal, risk rejection from their families or violent attacks, all because they care deeply about drag and the joy they derive from it. And people think it's just a bit?

Listen to me. This is your life– no one else’s. At the end of the day, it is you who has to be happy with the choices you are making, food you are eating, things you are doing, goals you are pursuing. Do not let the opinions and judgments of others stop you from doing what you feel and know in your heart is right for you. Eat the food that makes you feel best. Do what makes you feel at peace. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good, who make you laugh, who sincerely make you smile. Go after what you want– not because someone else is telling you to, but because you want to. Listen to that inner voice, trust your gut, and trust yourself.
