So I just saw on Twitter that MLB (Major League Baseball) changed their Pride profile picture on Facebook back to normal after one day.

With this right-wing psychosis being as.. loud as it is, it's actually kinda nice to see which brands are going to commit to their allyship, and not just go for brownie points from queer people.

Long, overdue good news: Negro League statistics will be integrated into MLB historical record!

Stats from the more than 2,300 players from seven iterations of the Negro Leagues from 1920-1948 will be included in the MLB’s database — including legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Josh Gibson, who will become the single-season record holder in batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS. Previous record holders for those three categories were Barry Bonds, Ty Cobb, and Babe Ruth.

Hey so I've given a lot of dough to artists via patreon and commissions over the years, something I'm thankful I can do thanks to that mythical disposable income. I've never pirated from indies and don't plan to.

That being said. I've subbed to patreons that don't have an archive, or stagger content by putting them behind a mega link with a password that changes, or posting it in a secret discord where the invite link doesn't work.

I unsub every time after I've paid because I don't like being treated like a criminal. Remember when itunes and steam would do that shit and people would clown on them? Did you forget?

Listen, people who didn’t pay aren’t going to pay. Making it easy for people to see and know you only increases your audience size. There’s artists I was convinced only drew once a year because they’re that withholding of their patreon works. And I only found out cause I had nothing better to do than dig, a normal person will just go "lol dead account" and move on.

If you think acting like this is going to make you more money, no it won’t. You’re just driving people away. Work on your marketing and networking skills instead of taking the time to create a custom password for every patron's access (A THING THAT'S HAPPENED AND CHRIST I UNSUBBED AS FAST AS I COULD LMAO). Those sound like gross corporate words but it literally just means your skill at making connections with other artists and widening your community and audience. Post consistently, have an archive! You can't suddenly be against the concept of piracy as soon as it applies to you.

The midjourney stuff just reminds of when we were trying to find a new platform to host the ao3 donation form, and companies kept trying to tell me about all their "ai" features that would track donor engagement, and figure out the optimal pattern to email individual donors asking for follow up donations, and all the ways they suggest we manipulate people into staying on our websites. It was a great way to filter out who either wasn't listening to us when we described our ethics and donor base, or just didn't believe us.

Now granted ao3 is a unique case based on a) the amount of page views we get in any given time period and b) the fact that most donors absolutely do Not want to be identified as such anywhere, (the default "list of recent donors" module got nuked Immediately) but it surprised me some that the concept of "donors who value their privacy and would be furious at even the whiff of AI" is unique. Some of us really are just existing in different worlds.

We are well beyond canary in the coalmine warning levels with the way trans people and particularly trans women are treated on this site.

Maybe you've heard the metaphor of allowing wolves and sheep to share the same space, welcoming everyone. You end up with just wolves because allowing them in that space makes it unsafe for any sheep. Or the story about how a nazi goes into a dive bar and is refused service. The bartender then explains to someone else at the bar that if you serve them once they tell their friends and before you know it you're the nazi bar they all go to and normal customers don't feel safe.

Terfs and other bigots are seeing these targeted harassment campaigns succeed against trans women and rejoicing. They see Tumblr ban them and officially stand by those decisions as endorsement for their harassment. It's a sign to bigots across the internet that Tumblr is a good place for them.

And what's more is that a lot of us probably don't realize just how much trans women contribute to Tumblr. The women banned recently were sources of site-wide memes and posts I wasn't even aware originated from them.any years old memes and references can be traced back to trans women on this site.

How many of these folks have to be removed before this is no longer a site you want to be a part of it? Sure you cultivate your own experience, but you can't follow or interact with people who aren't here. And if I wanted to interact with the nazis and terfs I'd go to reddit.

I encourage everyone to reblog this. Trans women shouldn't have to be the only ones speaking out against the bigotry they're experiencing. They shouldn't be the only ones risking their blogs being nuked by staff. We have to stand with them.
