Yes, well, right now he needed a healer, not a pep talk. The Inquisitor was holding onto the wound at his side where he’d been struck. The area was clear of enemies now, but that didn’t mean there hadn’t been wounded, and Kaaras was one of them. 

He tried desperately not to be impatient, considering there were others wounded–and he would rather them be healed first anyway. As a qunari, he had a much higher pain threshold, and a much thicker hide to pierce as well. Alas, he was not invincible. 

“That’s very spiritual of you,” he said through gritted teeth, a hiss in his voice–but not at the healer, no–it was because he was in pain, his hand now covered in blood. 

“I’m afraid words alone cannot heal this, though…” 

“ you are correct, while words may heal many things, and damage equally, they will not mend this wound . “

volthen looked intently at the qunari, his brow beading with sweat as he tensed from the pain. she took her hands and with one she held his--blood smearing between them. she held his hand gently, her thumb rubbing his skin slightly to soothe. while doing this, her other hand deftly pressed against the wound, just a slight pressure so as not to disturb. a blue light emitted from underneath this hand, illuminating her fingers. 

“ there will be a tugging, as the severed sides of the wound mold back together . “

she took but a moment, and it was done. she smiled at the qunari and continued holding his hand, but took the hand from the wound and placed it over her other one. 

“ how is the pain now ? I can offer a spell which would relieve anything lingering, for a short time . it may also make you feel drowsy . “

He winced and tensed up, a hand pressed firmly against his side as he held up his shirt for the elf to examine him. There, on his torso, was a deep stab wound. 

“Although,” he started to chuckle with embarrassment “, I think fate should have been kinder to me for meeting new people…and not letting me get stabbed over a petty bar fight to be the reason for it.”

talented and beautiful catches her off guard slightly. her cheeks flush against her will. she decides to focus on the wound as he lets her examine. her fingers are light as they touch, barely, to assess the damage the blade caused and which spells might best rectify the tear.

“ ahh, but we must remember ! fate is neither kind nor harsh--though it does tend to work out in the end. perhaps fate has decided we must meet, and like this--perhaps it is helping you meet new people !

she decides on three healing spells. the first emits a pale pink light. it is to numb the area, for the wound is deep. It is done quickly. the second will take a few minutes, and emits a blue light in the shape of an orb that looks as if it is made of water. she conjures it, and then prepares to press it to the rogue’s injury. 

“ you may feel some discomfort, like a light tugging, but it should not hurt. please tell me if it does. “

she thinks for a moment, eyeing the creature in question. it is a smaller beast, perhaps adolescent, but still fearsome with dark gray scales, gleaming an iridescent orange-yellow underneath. this dragon wielded electric currents through its hide, its horns, its teeth.

they say the isenatha’len do not know how to regulate their energy. without protective gear, this would be quite dangerous. fatal, if one was not careful. 

but she did oh so very much want to bet. volthen calms herself with a deep breath, lest she meet her brethren in an eternal dream too soon.

“ okay, tib “ – this was her nickname for him, which she used occasionally. the iron bull. she likes it, anyway.

“ I will bet you that I will strike the last on this creature. however, if one of us is seriously injured and cannot rejoin the fight, the other is winner by default, and must immediately carry them to the nearest medic. to the winner, the spoils, and the glory.

                        are the terms agreeable? “

Why do y’all RPG lovers continue to sleep on Divinity: Original Sin 2. There’s character creation including Lizard and Skeleton options, romance (you can be gay and the romance scenes actually change to reflect that), heartfelt companion quests, intriguing combat, like seriously the best combat system in any RPG I’ve ever played I cannot stress that enough, tons of fun spells, lots of hidden options in the maps if you explore… its just really excellent in so many ways idk why everyone isn’t playing it
