Below is an excerpt of Zagat's stellar review of Oceana Beach Club Hotel in Santa Monica. Click the link above to read the full review!
"Summer in LA means when you live on one part of town and it's 100 degrees, and the other side of town is a breezy 78 degrees, you swiftly high-tail it across the 10 freeway for cooler pastures. That's what we did when we just couldn't take our lack of air conditioning one minute longer and holed up at the Oceana Beach Club Hotel in Santa Monica for a night. The rooms are big, you're right on Palisades Park, a few blocks from everything in downtown Santa Monica and easy beach access. Plus - and this is our favorite new discovery - Josiah Citrin, yes, the award-winning chef from Melisse, created the menu for the hotel's Tower 8 restaurant. And even though he's not there cooking, it's actually really good."

Live from New Zealand, the sprawling front lawns of Otahuna Lodge, just outside Christchurch.
Originally built in 1895, this 7-room boutique property is situated on a 30-acre estate on South Island. It reopened in 2007 as the largest private historic residence in the country, A member of Relais & Chateaux, the lodge evokes a romantic British Colonial air, largely due to it's striking historic Queen Anne architecture and gorgeous manicured gardens.
Guests can enjoy horseback riding, fishing, mushroom foraging, cooking demonstrations, golf, wine tours, world-class heliskiing on the nearby Alps, and nightly five-course menus restore after a long day outdoors.
However, Otahuna's greatest attribute is its grounds, which overflow with lawns, rambling woodlands, orchards, gardens and the above pictured field that blooms with millions of bright yellow daffodils each September.
