Feminizer - Beneath the Harm (full album, 2023)

Officially, at least here within the network, we are kicking off what is to us, trans week or maybe to steal from G.L.O.S.S., Trans Week of Vengeance. No sorry y’all we don’t have any word on their whereabouts however, we do have something that is just as amazing and just absurdly terrific, Moon is fucking back with a second Feminizer album aptly titled ‘Beneath the Harm’! Y’all remember Feminizer from practically a year ago, yes literally a year ago we got the chance to work with Moon for the first time, and boy howdy was that a pleasure. And this time around Moon is really coming into her own here and her musical strength is just on full display. Feminizer is a force to be reckoned with on ‘Beneath the Harm’. Continuing that warm hug that is a strange and weird thing from dsbm, you do rather expect it to be cold and lonesome, Feminizer embraces you more so with these warm tones without losing anything that has made them such a unique force. Coming off her split with BTAKQ, Moon is still showing that she is growing and pushing herself into new boundaries such as a more symphonic and melodic element added to the repertoire. With these things added Feminizer is able to wield more emotion and texture within all these songs and create a stirring within oneself. Something that Feminizer has been great at and continues to be great at really. Moon takes you to the pain within and the pain from outside. What it can be to be a trans person or even a queer person within the world. ‘Beneath the Harm’ is a perfect album amongst other amazing albums created by trans artists this year such as Lust Hag, Transgressive, Lepra, Hypomanic Daydream, Everson Poe and the list just goes on and on.

We are very happy to announce the vinyl pre-order of Vægtløs’ new long length: ‘Aftryk’. Co-released with over 40 other labels!

Vægtløs is a Danish quartet of recent creation with scene veterans that have already reached a wide number of listeners with 'Kakofoni' the first 7" released by the band.

With ‘Aftryk’ they have poured every last bit of passion into their aggressive yet emotional music which can be described as intense and atmospheric post-metal with hints of black metal, post-rock, post-hardcore, and emo, even though it is not a distinct variation of either of those, but a mutated multifaceted modification of the sum.

It's no secret that here in the ABMN we have a soft spot for Tumultuous Ruin, and we can neither confirm nor deny reports that certain members of the network engaged in a harassment campaign towards sole member RH pestering him to release a full album already goddammit, but if they did, well, it was worth it, cause "An Abscess on the Heart of the State" is everything we hoped for and more.

Taking the grit and flowing riffage that we got to expect from an older era of USBM and upping the anger and despair, Tumultuous Ruin sound like the faster parts of Mizmor met the raw earthy sound of bands like Ash Of Cedars except instead of personal existential themes or rural americana worship, TR smell like tear gas, fracking chemicals, pipeline leaks and the barrel fires of homeless camps. This is a tale of a darkness many times more real and frightening than tales of demonic cults, this is a soundtrack of opposition to the very real death cult that is capitalism.

The band of course makes no secret of their allegiance, in their own words "This album and its lyrical content were inspired by the books Against His-story Against Leviathan, Ishmael, Desert, How to Blow Up a Pipeline, The Dispossessed, the 1991 film Clear Cut .... and a general desire to destroy all systems of oppression". Beautiful like the soaring flames engulfing a police department, this is RABM, impure and simple.

We are new here, and we'd like to rant about who we are!

Vita Detestabilis Records is an independent, female-run, antifascist label.

The logistics are based with Irene LF in Málaga, Spain, and the graphic design is based with Lucia M. in Northern Ireland (and open for commissions!). The decision-making and scouting are a joint effort.

VD was brought up so we could create that missing physical format that we ache for when we discover an album that we love and want to bring home with us somehow.

As analog lovers, we are mainly focused on cassette editions, and currently opening up to vinyl records. So, CDs will be rare to find in our catalog. Unlike our distro section, where you will find other forms of merch from individual bands and some of Fiadh Productions’s releases.

Our partnership with Fiadh aims to give bands we work with, together and individually, the chance to get exposure from different audiences. Within logical limits, as we can’t make it work for every single band.

We don’t sell digital - with very few exceptions that are always destined to be donated to benefit causes or name your price requested by the artist - which is why you will find our prices on BC as 131.2, 251.0, 666, or other puns/improbable to be real numbers. We don’t work with digital platforms (except for streaming on BC), and we consider those earnings should always go straight to the bands.

We are open for submissions now, which we request to be sent by email: [email protected]. But, before you submit your music, please keep this in mind: we are a political label. And, although bands don’t necessarily need to be explicit on their lyrics or themes, we want to work with artists that support the struggle against oppression.

As of right now, we don’t have a website, but you can listen to the bands we collaborate with on our Bandcamp page, and purchase through that platform or by sending us an email with your order.
