Listen to Ghost of You by 5 Seconds of Summer while reading this if you wanna hurt like i did when writing it (:
Dally woke up reaching for your side of the bed in instinct, his heart sinking when the memory that you were gone hit him again. It’s been three months since you left and it seems to be getting harder for him every day.
He sighed standing up and going into the kitchen and starting up the coffee pot. As the coffee machine brewed he opened up a cabinet to get a mug, stopping when he saw one of the mugs still stained with your red lipstick.
“I don’t understand Dallas. I thought you loved me.” You stared at the man you loved, tears brimming your eyes. “I do love you.” He sighed running his hands through his hair. “No, you don’t. You don’t know how to love.” You shook your head, the tears falling down your face.
Dallas stared at the mug, considering chucking it against the wall and smashing it, but he knew he couldn’t throw away the little he had left of you. When you left, you didn’t take anything except the clothes on your back, so the house was still covered in you. He sat the mug on the counter, rubbing the stubble that has grown on his chin since he’s found no reason to shave it.
He made his way over to the shelf on the wall picking up a frame with the very first picture you two took together. You were smiling brightly into the camera and Dallas only stared at you. You could practically feel the happiness and love you both felt at that moment when you stared at the picture.
“I love you y/n. you think if I didn’t love you id be sayin it to you? You think id be here if I didn’t love you?” He moved closer to you, grabbing your arm making you pull it away.
“Then why’d you have to go and mess everything up? Huh?”
He moved to the next picture. It was a polaroid Pony took of the two of you. You were sitting on the Cutis’s couch, your legs tossed over his lap. He was smiling big, not looking at the camera in this picture either. It was clear you were laughing at something he must have said, your head thrown back, his tee-shirt you were wearing sliding down your shoulder.
He remembered this day clearly. You had a water fight with the boys and gotten soaked, so he ran home and grabbed you a tee shirt and a pair of his loose boxers. Your hair was tossed up in a scrunchie and you were wearing some knee-high socks. Pony took the picture when you were both sitting there joking around. He had gotten the camera for Christmas and had been taking pictures every chance he got. You didn’t even realize the picture was taken until the flash blinded the two of you. Dallas made a comment giving him shit for it but stole the photo off the table before he left.
He flipped the picture looking at your handwriting on the back. ‘Dally and me. December of 69’.
“I can’t keep doing this Dally. I can’t keep gettin hurt like this.” You cried shaking your head.
Dallas walked over to you “You can’t go. I thought we were happy.” Worry covering his features at the idea that he might have finally pushed you away.
“That’s not enough anymore Dally.” You whispered shaking your head slowly, tears running down your face.
“I love you y/n. What else is there?”
He dropped the picture back on the shelf, running a hand over his face.
Everywhere he looked there were memories of you. But they were just memories, you were gone. Your perfume no longer lingered through the apartment. Your voice no longer was heard when you sang in the shower. He couldn’t watch you dance as you cooked breakfast or hear you laugh a little too loud when he would be playful with you. He couldn’t feel your soft skin against his fingertips anymore or feel your heartbeat when he laid on your chest when you’d cuddle on the couch.
“This isn’t working anymore Dally.” You cried as the words slipped through your lips. Dallas shook his head walking closer to you, tears brimming his eyes. “Don’t say that y/n. I can make you happy I swear.” “You already make me happy Dallas,” you whispered looking him in the eye “but that’s not enough anymore. I need a future, I need a commitment. Maybe we were just too young to know anything about love.”
He stood there staring at all of your belongings. Your things were there but you weren’t. And he was there but not really. He didn’t live anymore like he lived when he was with you.

Tumblr media
I took a bit of a break on the request because I started reading That Was Then, This Is Now again. Sorry I suck.
You sat on the couch staring at the television but not paying any attention to the story on the screen, instead, your mind was wandering to all of the nauseating activities Dallas was probably doing right now.
You two had gotten into yet another fight earlier causing him to storm out.
“What in the hell is your problem?” Dallas scoffed down at you.
“You Dallas. You’re my problem.” You crossed your arms.
“Well, I’m sorry I’m such a fuckin problem for you.” He shook his head. “I’m sorry I’m not good enough for you y/n.”
“No. You’re not doin that. I’m so over this insecure bullshit.” You ran your hands through your hair.
“I am not insecure.” He laughed darkly, stepping towards you.
“Yeah, you are.” You nodded your head at him “Always actin like I’m gonna leave you, or that you’re not enough for me. The jealousy, all of it.”
“I am who I am. You knew that before you got into this relationship.”
“What relationship?!” you threw your hands up “You’re never around anymore! I never see you and when I do we’re fightin. I can’t keep doin this Dallas.”
“Then I won’t make you anymore.” He scoffed, turning and slamming the door on his way out.

Your buddy Johnny
Tumblr media
I watched the outsiders for the first time in what seems like 5 years because I remember falling in love with it in 7th grade. I still remembered every word and I still cried at the end. The love I have for these characters and all that it’s helped me through will never be forgotten. I don’t know how I would be without it. Johnny’s letter kills me at the end because he talks about dally as if he’s still alive and i can highly relate to Ponyboy. I just understand them and I think it helped me feel not so alone. Just some thoughts I had. So glad I found my way back to this fandom I missed it. <3

Imagine Dally Breaking Up With You
(Part 2)
Tumblr media
You had forgotten he had a set of keys since you kept losing yours. “Dal?” You asked sleepily getting up from pony’s chest careful not to wake him. “What are you doing here?” “Nothing just leaving actually” he said mad. You were confused by the anger but too tired to question it. “Oh okay” you said while reaching to get water from your water bottle that was next to all the snacks pony had gotten. “You know (y/n) I should’ve known you were cheating on me this whole time what a complete waste.” Dally said opening the door and slamming it right behind him. You get up and follow him “HEY!” You yelled after him “HEY!” You said as he finally stopped. “I never cheated on you ever so if that’s why you broke up with me —“ “I told you why I broke up with you” he said cutting you off. “Yeah Dal and it makes no sense I am ‘immature’?What does that even mean. I practically raise my sister because my mom works so much I take ap classes and ace them and I’m a captain on track how am I not mature?” “That’s exactly the issue” Dal said his voice raising. “What Dal im not cheating on you” “(y/n) I saw the flowers and the food and the way you two were sleeping your telling me you don’t like Pony? He gets you he understands you” “you lost me Dal” you said confused as hell. “Fuck (y/n) you’re too good for me okay. You’re too good for me and I can’t keep holding you back” he said stepping in closer “I came to tell you that I was sorry about what I said earlier but when I walked in and I saw you with pone it just clicked and it made me realize that we just don’t fit” he said now centimeters away from you. Taking a step closer every time he said a word he was basically towering over you his lips ghosting yours. “Dal just answer me one thing” getting as close to him as possible without being completely on him. “Do you still love me?” You said looking up at him. “Like you could never imagine” and that’s all it took for you to finally land your lips on his and he kissed you with so much passion as you felt tears touch your face you pulled away. “Dal are you okay?” You said wiping his tears. “ I’m just so sorry when I saw you with pone I thought I had lost you for good I should’ve never broken up with you I wasn’t thinking I was stupid I think I just got too in my head—“ you cut him off by stroking his hair “it was a mistake I get it I love you too” you said as you leaned in to kiss him again and pulled away once more. “Just don’t do it again” Dally just smiles and pulls you in closer never letting you go.

Imagine Dally Breaking Up With You
Tumblr media
(Part 1)
“Listen we got to talk” Dally said as he met you at the dingo for the lunch date you guys planned. “Yeah what’s up love?” you say while looking at the menu. “This isn’t working out anymore” he said looking down shamefully. “What?” You said confused out of your mind you had finally gotten dally to open up and he told you he loved you last week it was so out of the blue. “This is just not working anymore” he repeated again still avoiding eye contact. Yeah Dal i got that but what’s happening is everything okay” u asked reaching out for his hand. “Everything is fine doll I just don’t want to be with you anymore that’s all your ponyboys age you’re a child and you act like him so immature it gets annoying” he said with a cool tone a result from continuing to question him. You looked at him in disbelief and tried to process his hurtful words it’s almost as if he didn’t care how he handled your heart. Ponyboy has been your best friend forever you two are on track together in the same classes you were the girl version of him but you never thought Dal viewed you as too young or immature especially since you have proven yourself far from that on many occasions. You just nodded your head and gently whispered “goodbye Dal” as you got out of your seat and walked out. You hesitated to go to the Curtis house not sure if Dally would have made his way over so you called pony and told him to meet you at your house and it didn’t take a seconds hesitation. You had already done damage to your kitchen and Ponyboy showed up with cookies and ice cream and sunflowers to top it all off. Once you had opened the door he put down all the things and wrapped you in a hug. You weren’t worried about your mom since she worked late and you had already put your little sister to bed. “What happened I thought everything was going good?” Pony asked sitting you down on the couch and getting you a spoon for your ice cream. “ Idk pone he was so mean about it too he told me I was too immature and too young it just didn’t make sense to me” you said taking the spoon and opening the carton. “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about your a great girl your so responsible don’t stress about Dally he’s not worth it” pony said while sitting next to you with his arm around you as you leaned on his chest eating the ice cream. “Ik it still hurts tho pone” you said taking another bite of ice cream. “ I can talk to him if you want” pony offered. “No don’t hes probably just gonna be mean to you too “Do you just want to watch tv and eat your feelings away?”Pony said handing you a bag full of your favorite snacks. You nodded and stuffed your face with anything your stomach craved not caring about the consequences. You had fallen asleep on pony’s chest when you were awoken by some commotion at the door and got up to see a mad and distraught Dal.

What happened to the gang after the book
Tumblr media
* The gang buries Johnny and Dallas and take their deaths as a wake up call
* Steve and Soda get drafted into the Vietnam war
* Pony picks up his slack in school since he figures he is lucky enough to even continue it after everything that has happened
* Darry and Ponyboy tend to get along more because they know that’s what Soda would want
* Two Bit gets a job as a comedian at a night club and finally gets a consistent pay check
* The war finally ends and Steve and Soda both return from war with PTSD
* Darry puts both of them in a program that help soldiers get back on track after the war
* Pony graduates from his high school as valedictorian and gets a full ride to Stanford because of track and majors in film and writing
* Two bit eventually makes it big and moves to Hollywood to become a script writer for comedy films
* Steve and soda decide to open up their own shop once they get released from the program and name it “JD’s” after Johnny and Dallas
* Darry meets a nice girl while working a job and eventually settles down with her and moves to a county with better schooling since she is expecting
* Darry leaves the Curtis house to Soda and Steve
* Two bit becomes a good script writer and with everyone in Hollywood wanting him he helps Ponyboy get an internship with one of his friends
* Ponyboy gets a script offer his freshmen year at Stanford and even takes his chances with acting
* Darry has the twins and the whole gang flies out to be there for the birth of their nephew and niece
* Both Two Bit and Ponyboy make it big with a few films and used a lot of the proceeds to buy a shop in LA
* Ponyboy stays in school since he has a full ride because of track and because Darry is making him
* Ponyboy and Two Bit offer the shop to Steve and Soda and both of them end up moving to LA and get to work on “rich” people cars which allowed them to see so much more
* Because of this they ended up selling the Curtis house but not before the whole gang meets there one last time
* They all fly out to Tulsa and walk through the gate one last time as they reminisce over all the chocolate cake shared and the jokes told
* The Curtis brothers visit their old rooms and remember what it was like growing up with their parents and how this house was the last thing they had left of them
* Two Bit takes his last dive into the fridge and they all open a beer bottle and drink in respects to the moving on they all have done
* Darry let’s the gang out in front of him thanks the house for what it’s given him and locks the door for the very last time
* Darry eventually gets a solid job as a salesman and gets relocated to LA as well where he raises his family with all their uncles nearby
* Darry’s kids star in a lot of Two Bit and Ponyboys films
* Ponyboy also starred in a couple of his films and easily became the biggest heartthrob of the 70s
* Although there was really nothing left in Tulsa for the gang every anniversary of Johnny and Dallys death the gang takes a trip out there and visits their graves
* The whole gang catches Dally and Johnny up on what’s been happening in their lives “dally man you won’t believe the type of cars I’ve been working on” “hey Johnnycakes I’ve been working on a script based on our church hideout it’s getting along well”
* Although the gang all made it big in Hollywood it helps remind them of where they came from and who they knew. And it helps keep them close and they all watch the sunset together in silence as they think about their lives and how they managed to get out of that town but how it cost them their two friends. And they think about how they will never get to experience all the things life has to offer with the two that never got to grow old.
