For just €36.4 A beautiful set with five large plates from the renowned Bavarian porcelain manufacturer Edelstein. The founder of the company was Julius Edelstein (1882–1941). In 1919 he and his partner Isidor Grünebaum bought the Upper Franconian porcelain factory founded by Friedrich Ohnemüller and Emil Speiser. The factory in Kronacher Strasse was renamed Porzellanfabrik Edelstein GmbH, modernized according to plan and converted into a stock corporation in 1923. The distribution took place through the Edelsteinsche Handelsgesellschaft Glas-, Porzellan- und Steingut-Handels AG, based in Berlin. Edelstein developed into a leading brand in Germany. Edelstein was able to compete with Philipp Rosenthal on the market. In 1924 a representative office was opened in the Mädlerpassage at the important Leipzig trade fair location. After all, there were also showrooms in New York. When the National Socialists came to power, the Jewish entrepreneur Edelstein lost an ongoing bankruptcy procedure. Edelstein and his wife Margaretha were deported to Riga in 1941 and murdered. After the war, Julius Edelstein's daughter, Marianne Wald, unsuccessfully tried to return the stolen company. In 1972, Edelstein was sold to Slater Walker Bank, which in turn sold it to Heinrich Porzellan GmbH in 1973. Heinrich Porzellan GmbH shut down production on December 31, 1973.
