may I ask why we shouldn't hotlink the free-to-use stuff hosted on your site?

Basically if you hotlink, it'll use up my own site's bandwidth and resources. Hotlinking is generally not recommended for this reason, especially if you hotlink from independent websites

EDIT: If you want to use those images on other sites such as Toyhouse and Artfight, I would personally recommend using Dropbox. You can embed images directly from your Dropbox storage. That's what I did for my Artfight profile after I found out Discord isn't very good for that kind of thing

Just a heads up...

Since I mainly go on tumblr just to post art now, at some point I do plan on fully transferring my art posts onto a primary blog because it gets kind of annoying having this blog be a sideblog when it's essentially the main one I use.

Once I do i'll probably give it like a month or so before I fully stop uploading on this blog and post exclusively on the new blog, just to give people time to know where the new blog'll be when I do make a new one.

Though this particular blog won't be going anywhere either. It'll probably just remain as an archive

been watching vinny and was slightly inspired by the college doodles he shared recently so i just decided its time i finally used the pack of 100 coloured crayons i bought a long time ago and havent used until now

i posted this on my neocities activity but! i've noticed a reoccurring problem on neocities where really skilled artists will have these giant galleries full of hi-res images and the webpage slows to an absolute crawl because it's trying to download every single picture on your website at once.

from a user experience perspective, this sucks and turns me (and likely others) away from revisiting your site. nothing worse than getting the hughesnet treatment when you just want to look at cool art.

if you are an artist, or have a big gallery with tons of images (especially hi-res ones!), please consider doing the following to improve your website's performance astronomically:

if your art is hi-res, resizing your images to reflect the typical size of your website (there are even gallery widgets like EZGallery that allow you to have a small-rez thumbnail that you can click on to take you to the actual image that you can zoom into, so you can still have those hi-res images while improving website performance!).

using loading="lazy" on the images that do not immediately appear on your screen when you open the page. this makes it so that the only images that load are the ones in your viewport/screen, rather than all of them loading at once.

im actually impressed w how much notes my plight drawing got ... its the first time in a long time i've been truly proud of a drawing so it makes me real happy to see ppl enjoy it too 🥹🥹

#im impressed if anything i make reaches even like 30 notes so when i get 100 im like damn ok !! #and sometimes being obsessed with a guy pays off ig LOL
