hi @taylorswift!!

i thought i’d share this lil gay tidbit of my life with you. i shared a little about dana and me in a former post (which is here, you should read it), but i went to NYC Pride for the first time in my life with my girlfriend and it was the most fulfilling and euphoric thing ever. i brushed upon struggling with my sexuality in my previous post, but i don’t need to go into the super bad details because it’s just not fun to be negative. what i will say is that art has helped me so much. i’ve admired you for such a large portion of my life (i used to go to CMA Fest and was there when you did the 13 hour meet and greet, but my mom wouldn’t let me wait. so. thanks, mom). i digressssss. anyway, i never thought i’d be comfortable with that part of myself – i was literally convinced and came to terms with the fact that i’d just end up with a man to appease the people around me. i didn’t want to look like an attention seeker or someone who was trying to be ~different~ or stand out. i also never though i had the guts to live in nyc and pursue working in theatre. it’s full of PIRANHAS. but i had art and music that inspired me to push through that and end up coming out (literally) on the other side.

your music (and sara bareilles’s ;) were like two floaties on each of my arms keeping me afloat – not quite pulling me out of the water, but allowing me to work through it and save myself. analogies are my thing, clearly. it’s amazing what music can do. and now i have a girlfriend i love with every single fibre of my being. i didn’t think i’d ever be here to experience life this way, but i’m so grateful. thank you for the art you make. 

dana and i will see you at metlife night 1 (july 20) from section 332, row one, seats 1 and 2 (3, let’s go bitch! jokessssss; there’s only 2 of us). yeah, we’re high up, but we were meant to keep the party going up there.

i’ve been trying to decide if i wanted to do this b/c of putting myself out there and/or losing followers but you know what??? who cares. HELLO! my name is amelia, i’m 26, and you’ve been following me for most 3 years on here! you wouldn’t remember this, but you liked 2 or 3 of my posts that were funny. nothing personal from me before, just laughs. i don’t really like posting pics on here and i’ve been blogging about tv because that keeps me out of the drama and focusing on things that i like (but that’s changing today now isn’t it). anyway it’s been so long since that happened so i felt like now we’re in that awkward silent phase so i’m finally going to introduce myself. i’m amelia, i live in delaware, and i’m going to be seeing you next month in philadephia!!! i’ll be there with my brother (more on him later) for both nights and i am so excited. between the 1989 tour and now i’ve finished grad school and have been working with immigrants for the past 2 ½ years (what i’ve always wanted to be doing) - that is, until i got laid off (i’m writing this in my final week at this job!!!). that totally sucks but i’m going to be thinking of the rep tour as a victory lap into my unemployment and i’m ready to have a f***ing blast. i’ve been a fan for basically a decade. your songwriting and musical talent really taught me a lot about the wide range of human experiences and emotions, despite me not having experienced much of what you have (but i’m glad i’ll have a soundtrack prepared for when those moments come!). rep has been relatable with look what you made me do, i did something bad, and delicate because i do live that Bad Reputation Life so you know i’m gonna have the time of my life. anyway, your music has supported, comforted, and been there for me longer than anyone in my life.

that is, with the exception of the person i’m writing this post because of - my brother! his name is andrew, he’s 28, and he’s a family-based therapist. his job is super difficult and taxing since he’s dealing with children a lot, but you can see where he finds his sources of joy - movies, brooklyn nine-nine and law and order: svu, and your music. i would like to say that i’m your biggest fan in the family, but i’d be lying. we’ve both been fans of you for the same amount of time, but my brother has gone above and beyond what i could do to show that. he’s been to see you in new york during your album releases, traveled to even farther states to see you in shows, and has even gotten me into this whole concert thing when he brought me along to see you during the fearless tour. every concert that i have been to to see you, i have gone with my brother (he’s also in the pictures with me on this post from the last two tours, if you haven’t noticed that already) so that’s been a cool, fun bonding time. for example, him seeing mariska hargitay during the 1989 made his life! point is - he’s been looking out for me for my entire life, whether it’s obvious now that we’re adults or not. so i’m writing this in hopes that it gets to you that i’d love to surprise him during the tour! i’m doing this without him knowing about it (he doesn’t use tumblr even though he knows you follow me), but i know that meeting you would be a dream come true for him. i’m kind of surprised it hasn’t happened yet, but he really does deserve it. it’d be cool if you’d look out for him! i even see a box of snakes in his bedroom so i know he’s planning something for these concerts (btw do you know how scary it is to see fake snakes in a bedroom in your house?) so yeah, that’s what i have to say and i’m so excited to see you. our seats are: night 1 (july 13) - F10, row 32, seats 3-5 (he’s bringing a friend this night!) night 2 (july 14) - F7, row 7, seats 23-24
