Years ago, I picked up this copy of The Shining (1980). It was someone's recording of a television broadcast version of the film. I have this one in my collection for posterity and because I enjoyed the effort they took into printing a tiny label for the title.

For absolutely anyone at Warped Tour 2006-2009 (and subsequently 2012 and 2013), you were in the crowd for this band when it came time for their set.

With an incredibly powerful live show and even more powerful fanbase/moshpit, Chiodos holds a coveted spot in the hearts of post-hardcore kids everywhere. The absolute largest Wall of Death I have ever witnessed was at the drop of "The Undertakers Thirst for Revenge..." at Warped Tour 2009. That memory holds a special place for me. I was young, impressionable, and had never seen so many people in my entire life. And each and every sweaty body moved and bounced and thrashed to the sounds of this record, becoming but marionettes to the slamming instrumentals and Craig Owens' heavenly vocals (even when screaming). It was my first Warped Tour, my first real view of the music scene that I love and I was drawn deep into that pit to become a manic marionette myself. True magic.

Providing fans with an unforgettable live experience wasn't the only blessing of being a Chiodos fan in their active days. The build-up and progression of talent showcased in their debut record found a cruising altitude with the sophomore Bone Palace Ballet, which soon became a must-listen for anyone being introduced to the genre. Their cult-like following filled MySpace pages with lyric Blinkies and Chiodos-based HTML themes. If you knew anything, you had one of their heavier ones as your MySpace profile song.

Chiodos was one of the great musical efforts in post-hardcore history. For a complete vibe of the 2000-aughts, give this one several listens.

One of the more thoughtfully crafted CDs, TOOL's AENIMA offers an incredible experience for the owner with FOUR (!!!) lenticular designs.

The CD insert itself offers three lenticular images (pictured here) that one could choose as the display cover for the album and when the CD is removed from the case, it reveals the fourth image which depicts California being overtaken by the ocean.
