Psa that your witchcraft is tailor made to you. You can obviously adopt practices from others that you like, but your craft is your own. It can be as messy or as organized as you need/want. It can be inconsistent as fuck, or scheduled. Never feel bad for the way you practice. Witchcraft is meant to be tailored to each individual

Celebrate whenever you feel works best, whatever “works best” means for you. If that’s when your local season is better suited to the holiday, go for it! If that’s next weekend, when it’s well past the equinox but you’ve actually got time to make that bread and cider you picked up the ingredients for and your friends have gotten the night off to come celebrate the season with you, go for it! If that’s the calendar equinox because you don’t have the energy right now for anything more involved than googling Mabon 2023 and picking up donuts and an apple cinnamon scented candle to enjoy while you watch Over the Garden Wall again, go for it! (Guess which one of these is me this year.)
Witchcraft is not an exact science and the universe is not a computer that only executes command functions by system time programming. It’s okay to work with “eh, close enough.” If you didn’t have a calendar or a phone to tell you the exact time and date of the equinox, how would you know when to celebrate? Would you accept being a little bit off, or would you rather not mark the occasion at all if you can’t be perfectly accurate?
Personally, I don’t think the exact precise moment is when the magic happens, for lack of a better term. The magical part is when you notice the world around you, when you become a part of it and when you let it become a part of you. I genuinely cannot tell what day is the precise equinox without asking Google, but I know that next weekend with my bread and cider and friends it’s going to feel like the equinox, because I’ll be taking my time to experience the current season and share that experience with the people I love. I don’t believe any ritual or working I do that night is going to be less magical or effective than one I do alone and burned out on the actual precisely calculated night of the equinox. If the season is mostly approximately right and you are willing to meet it with your own energy and intentions, it will all work out in the end.
I've only been practicing witchcraft for 3 ish years, and I don't always celebrate the wheel of the year holidays. But I've been wondering about the autumn/spring equinox. It's supposed to be the day that it's equal night and day aka 12 hours each. Obviously it's never exactly like that, and it's different in different areas, even in the same country. So for me it would actually be on Monday, when the sun rises at 7:02am and sets at 7:03pm. Would it be wrong to celebrate it then?

Something to mark the occasion. I must admit, I'm pretty pleased with how this one turned out. Enjoy.

My favourite deck I keep in regular use is the Ostara Tarot. I love the art style and the unique perspective it has on the classic tarot themes, and it’s one of the few decks I own made as a collaboration between multiple artists that doesn’t feel jarring or mismatched, artistically. When I’m doing public readings it’s always one of the decks I bring to the table.
My favourite deck in my whole collection is probably the Idiosyncradeck. I don’t use it for public readings or take it out of the house at all any more because it’s out of print now and I wouldn’t be able to replace it if anything happened to it. But I adore the art and working with it feels like sitting down for tea with a beloved and absolutely ruthless old friend.
What's your favorite tarot deck, everyone?
I've collected a few of the "big" ones over the years and never felt quite a connection to any of them as I do the Wildwood Tarot.
Just want to see what your thoughts are and which decks you've found connections with!

To celebrate I've put my newest Bottanical Expansion pack up in my shop: the suit of Sweets!

I made a sigil to keep in my apartment to prevent dishonesty and encourage people to be genuine in my space and let me tell ya…
It’s a god damn double edged sword and I wasn’t ready.
Universe, I take it back.

people on here are always saying “we NEED a story where the art of storytelling is abandoned” like ugh literary devices are soo annoying like that wouldn’t happen in real life that only happened to further the story (why is there story in my story) why would orpheus turn around when he was explicitly told not to why would icarus fly so close to the sun romeo&juliet catcher in the rye why are they so earnest why pour your heart and soul into anything why bother why cant all art be quippy logical monotony like my marvel movies there’s a void in my heart bc i refused to fill it and the curtains were blue

I have had readings done for me with guidebooks that were meaningful and eye-opening experiences, and I’ve also had readings done with guidebooks that felt like a total waste of time and money, disrespectful of me as a querent and of the craft of reading tarot. It wasn’t the book that made the difference, it was the reader.
mainly I've been thinking of doing in person readings at some local art events, but I have SO many decks and some that have 100+ cards, I can't memorize them all, but I don't want to look like I don't know my stuff or the message isn't from Spirit. Feel free to comment or add in tags any extra thoughts!
