Enter Dean Winchester — the guitarist and background vocals to a local band, Last Call — who has Castiel wondering if there’s still more to life than the endless rotation of repairs, payments, and subpar imitation rock bands that perform at their monthly Rock Nights. Dean Winchester is charming, witty, funny, and… stuck in a rut of disappointment and frustration. He’s still playing small, pointless gigs with his high school band while working at Bobby’s garage. It’s honest work, but a far cry of what his young self envisioned.  Now, the blue-eyed bartender at The Roadhouse has him questioning if maybe there’s still more in store for him than one night stands and frat party concerts.

Yesterday we had a very successful first round of art claims: 26 of our 34 amazing stories submitted for claims got paired with an artist!

However, we still have 8 stories in need of an artist. There will be a second round of claims today for artists who previously registered with us, but it is highly likely we will have a round of “public” art claims open to all starting tomorrow, Monday April 17, at noon/12:00 Eastern Time.

If you missed out on registering for the bang and would like a chance to claim a story on Monday, please fill out the form linked here. Registration for the public claims is still required so we have your contact information and can send you the list of what stories remain available, and their details, before claims happens. That’s the only way to access the final claims form, too!

There are still some amazing stories left, whether you are a Dean/Cas fan, love SPN angels in general, or are a fan of some rarer ships and characters. “In my amulet? In total? Nine thousand, two hundred fifty-two years, and twenty days,” Castiel answers calmly. “Give or take a few hours, accounting for the change in the axis of rotation of the planet.”

Dean has no idea what that means—rotation around what?—but he was not expecting that number.

“Ten thousand years?” he blurts. “In here?” Dean dangles the necklace, swinging it back and forth, and studying the dull blue glow coming from the—apparently empty—bottle. “Geez, that’ll give you a crick in the neck.”

On a quiet afternoon a week shy of Christmas, Dean is interrupted while poking through the news for a case. Someone is pounding on the Bunker door. After a brief huddle with Sam and Castiel, they investigate to find Charlie on the other side, a box of books at her feet. She needs to use their archive for research and a place to stay while she does it. Of course, she’s always welcome at the Bunker

After showing her to a room, Dean offers to help her unpack. He finds her collection of Dungeons & Dragons books in the box and asks to borrow one: Candlekeep Mysteries. Charlie offers to run one of the campaigns from the book, specifically, The Scrivener’s Tale. And Dean, giddy as a school girl, rushes off to gather his party for a good ol’ fashioned mystery.

But the game is afoot and has been since Charlie’s unannounced arrival. Between that and her awkward behavior, Dean can’t shake a familiar, nagging worry. There’s just one problem: he can’t remember what, exactly, it is about her or her behavior that’s got him on edge. And neither can anyone else.

The campaign unravels—along with Charlie’s secrets—as she tells the story of The Scrivener’s Tale.
